THE RAGING BULL Season 2013 Volume 15 Bulls overrun Seagulls. A wet, cold and muddy day at the Bullpit on Saturday as Karingal showed just how far they have come in Season The under 18 began the day playing out a draw, a top effort from Triepys Troopers to get a draw against a team in the Top 5. The reserves came from 2 goals down in the last quarter to record their first win since Round 8 against Bonbeach while the seniors continue to prove their strength by thumping Chelsea by 108 points, Justin Peckett kicking 4 majors for the Bulls. Only one game was played on the netball courts due to unforeseen circumstances in A Grade and C Grade having a bye, but that didn t stop B Grade making 3 out 5 wins on the day with a draw. A Grade will play the rematch on Thursday night at Jubilee. Make sure you get down and support the girls. Seafood Luncheon There is just two more weeks until the Karingal FNC annual seafood luncheon on August 3 rd at the home game against Mornington. If you would like to take part in this event it is $75 per person. See the flyer in the newsletter for more details on how to get involved.

This weekend the Bulls will travel up Nepean Highway to Regents Park to take on Edithvale-Aspendale. When the Bulls last met Edithvale at the Bullpit it was hard fought day with the Reserves getting back to back wins. The seniors were overrun while the Under 18s took up to the Eagles only to fall short by 2 points. While the girls had a disappointing day on court. Hopefully, things are different this time around. Hoping to see a large contingent of Bulls supporters at Regents Park on Saturday to have a presence as we look to push for Finals births. Get behind the Bulls at Regents Park (the Eagles nest). In 2013 We are smart phone compatible so you can get all your Bulls News anywhere, anytime...know someone who follows the Bulls but doesn t get The Raging Bull? 4 The Week in Review Round 14 vs Chelsea On a cold, wet and windy day, the footballers dominated coming away with 2 out of 3 wins with the Under 18s fighting out a draw. The seniors never looked challenged by a Chelsea side that was dominated all day, the seniors ran out 108 point victors. The reserves were challenged all day and stepped up in the last quarter coming from 2 goals down on muddy ground with a waterlogged football. The Under 18s were in the hunt all day, leading for the majority of day against a team that is in the top 5, only to fight out a heart stopping draw. Only one match was to be played on court as the A Grade girls had to reschedule their match against Chelsea to Thursday night at 6:30pm due to unforeseen circumstances. Which they won While the C Grade girls had the bye. B Grade flew the Karingal flag getting over the line against Chelsea 30-24, All eyes look now to the A grade girls in their match on Thursday night. Go Bullettes!

Football Report Season 2013 Senior Coach Report Brendan Dunne This week we had Chelsea and the weather was the toughest it had been for the whole year, wet, windy and cold. When conditions are like this any result is possible so it was important to keep our heads about us and play the right style of football to get the result. The game played out and it was a one sided game all day the boys were switched on and from the very first bounce, they had come to play. Harley was great in the first quarter kicking 3 goals and setting us up for a big day. It was great to see the return of some of our senior players in LVR, Noble and Jacko all played a great part in the win. Stand outs for the game were Harley who played a great game from on ball kicking goals, Grant was fantastic again dominating in the hit outs, Cal is in career best form and worked hard all day and I thought Peckett and Burke were also great setting up a lot of our major plays. All in all a great win and it now sets us up with the chance to capitalise and finish top three. A great quote: If it s meant to be, it s up to me. Destiny is in our hands, it s what we can do with it. Cheers Dunney

Reserves Coach Report Pete Jordan Our game was played in conditions we haven t had for the majority of the year and it was a really type of game against Chelsea who we beat quite comfortably last time around. However, this time around was not the case. Chelsea came to play and we were caught off guard. The last couple of weeks our preparation had been good but this weeks was exceptional. I said to the boys before the game that it was important that we had to get the first couple of goals of the game to get ourselves up and going. Although we didn t get the first couple of goals we definitely worked hard, the pressure around the ball running and linking up. Smitty was outstanding in the first quarter kicking the first two goals for us and using his run and agility to his advantage every time he got near the ball and roving the packs when the forwards bought the ball to ground. At half time we assessed the first half even though we were tailing, we were still in it and it was imperative that we don t have the 3 rd quarter like we had against Frankston YCW. Fortunately we fought really hard in the 3 rd quarter to stay in touch. At 3 quarter time we had done the right things but we also had a 10 minute lapse like we ve had earlier in the game. We were 2 goals down at three quarter time it was up to the boys what they did, of course they wanted to win The last quarter showed just how much character and how much it meant to the boys who kicked 4 goals in the last quarter lead by Gonz and Taz, Taz had been great up forward all day. At the end of the game, the boys were glad to get the win and they cannot wait to get up in the rooms and sing the song. Despite the rough conditions and the slippery footy. The thing that really stood out by us today was our character and the spirit that was missing during the 5 games we lost and it was just good to finally snap that streak. The seasons not over by any means, obviously there s a lot of work that needs to be done but I think we have the side that capable of doing anything in this final games of the season. Best Players vs Chelsea: Gonz, Hicksy, Paulie, Smitty, Taz, Trav Kellerman, Bobcat.

Racism, It Stops with Me! Everyone would remember the incident between Adam Goodes and the 13 year old Collingwood supporter at the beginning of the AFL Indigenous Round. Furthermore, would remember the comments made by Collingwood President Eddie McGuire only just two weeks ago. Racism, has not just been involved in Australian Rules football, but in sports across the world. Especially in sports where international players are a part of clubs. The Karingal Football & Netball Club takes a zero tolerance towards racially abusing or vilifying of a player, official or supporter based on gender, race or religion. Without these three components of a club and league, there would be no football to watch and there would be no talent from local level. Football is about having fun and enjoying getting together on a Saturday and playing with your mates, against your mates and meet new mates along the way regardless of who they are or what they believe in. So whether you are Indigenous, a person from another culture or religion or you are just a regular Australian. No-one should EVER be subject to racial abuse in Australian football and this needs to be stamped out of our game!

CLUB 44 - Honouring Justin Groves Club 44 was struck in honor of the memory of Justin Groves, a player who tragically passed away in his twenties. Justin was a passionate Karingal person who wore his heart on his sleeve and it is hoped that members of Club 44 share the passion and desire for success that Justin possessed not only for Karingal but in life. The Groves family has had an association with Karingal for over 30 years and those who have witnessed Justin s father and brother David and Paul supporting the club will understand how much victory would have meant to Justin. The number 44 is symbolic because this is the number Justin wore in all of his games for Karingal. Club 44 retains an element of exclusivity because of its limited with the Club 44 insignia printed on them. In 2004 the Groves family struck an annual award to be given at each Presentation Night. The Club 44 award is given to the player exhibiting the qualities that Justin displayed throughout his career. Courage to perform under adversity, Determination to succeed against stronger opposition and Tenacity to persist until the result is achieved. In addition to a trophy the winner can elect to wear jumper number 44 in the following season, his family feels truly touched by the warmth with which this club has been accepted. Even with Justin s passing he continues to have an emotional and tangible influence on the success of the Karingal Football Club CLUB 44 Winners: 2004 Ben Gothard 2005 David Measham 2006 Matt Jakobi 2007 Justin Peckett 2008 Steve Charalambous 2009 Robbie Clements 2010 Justin Farrelly 2011 Bevan Malloy 2012 Troy Hoad 2013 Package: $250 Paid by Round 1 (Club 44 Day), otherwise $275 Club Membership Entry to All Home Games Insider Regular updates straight from the coach. 4 Guest passes To allow people entry to game & half time as required C44 Corporate Hat Supplied by Blue Gum Clothing $80 Voucher To be used for drinks, merchandise or Pre Season Lunch / Seafood Lunch Tickets 1/2 Time Functions In Rooms for Showtime Attractions Park Club 44 Day Beer, Wine & Soft Drink Round 2 April 13th V Langwarrin 12 pm Onwards.

Netball Report Robyn Burke The weekend saw us coming up against Chelsea, who only field 2 sides so the C girls had a well earned break & had a team bonding session going out to lunch then the movies, while A & B headed to Monash Uni to play. B grade started out slowly with only 2 goals on it at qrt time, Jess unfortunately popped her shoulder out again which left the girls one player short as they had no sub, lucky Claire was there to throw on a uniform & slot into the game, with a couple of position changes one of them moving Anna into goals seemed to work the girls were down by 5 at half time but once they settled into the new set up they came back to be level at 3qrt time & go on to win by 6 goals with Sara shooting from all over the place & Anna stepping in nicely to contribute in GA all the girls worked fantastically to get a great win. A grade followed & unfortunately due to the fact that we could not supply an Umpire & were relying on Chelsea's Umpire for both games, she went down injured so with out an umpire we had to call the game off, we have rescheduled the game for Thursday night at Jubilee park at 6.30pm. Next week we take on the mighty Edithvale girls who are the measuring stick of the competition at Sturdee street from am so of your free get down & support the girls Go Bullette's!
