We welcome the team from Fethard and Cloomel Commercials in the Senior Final and Lattin/ Emlv and Templemore in the Minor game. We hope that the standard'of football in the games will be high and that patrons attending will have an enjoyable day and will find the facilities provided in Kilsheelan to their satisfaction. Sean 0 Nuinseain Runai Paudie O'Neill (Commercials) A. 8. Kennedy (Fethard) The Captains of both teams in today's Senior ~inal are Paudie O'Neill, Commercials and A.B. Kennedy Fethard. Both are a fine example of all that is best in Gaelic games, being outstanding sportsmen and having represented their County at minor, under 21 and senior level. Both are also accomplished hurlers and have won South Senior Hurling medals with their respective Clubs. Paudie is a teacher ahd A.B. is studying for the Priesthood.

Commercials wor the sp,"ciai Under 14 National title in the competition which was fun off under the auspices of Gavan while Fethard won the UmJer 15 7-a-side competition played off in Gormanstown. 6 Fiodh Ard By Miceal MacCormaic.Runai It has been established beyond doubt that Football had been played in the Fethard area long before the establishment of the G.AA. had been founded in 1884 in Hayes Hotel in Thurles. In 1987 we in Fethard will celebrate the first winning of the Co. Tipperary Championship in From 1917 uotil1924 the Cup took up permanent residence in Fethard with the exception of In 1927 and 1928 it made a brief visit again. Records show that the Blues were going through one of its best periods of success during this decade and that football was the predominant sport in the Parish. For the nine year period between 1928 and 1937 we went through a lean spell contesting a number of finals but unfortunately not winning. In the latter days of 1938 we arose again and took the honours. Four years later we again emerged as County winners. The fifties saw us champions in 1954 and The seventies saw us playing good football but we had to wait until 1978 for our turn to claim the championship once again. Every Club must have a supply of players to supplement teams and it is in this aspect that we are blessed to have football as an added extra subject at the Patrician Schools in Fethard. Down through the years a never ending supply has filtered out of the Rocklon Rd. school field. Today alone the panel has three members still at school in the Patricians Schools and all the panel have been educated at one time or another in the P.B.S. Behind the scenes it is very important to have the back up crew. TOOay's selectors for the "Blues" amass a total knowledge of the game and hold the distinction of each and every one of them winning a Co. Senior football championship with the club. TOOay's game brings together two great teams and regardless of results "Tipperary Football is a winner". Fethard U!15 Og Sport Gael winners at Gormans town Co. 8 SEEK 9th TITLE Founded in 1934 with tho main object of providing healthy recreation for the youth of Cion mel, Commericals won its first championship (the South minor title) in Thereafter the Club met with outstanding success and graduated to Senior ranks in 1938 after winning the South Junior title in the previous year As a senior club the success story continued with the winning of the Tipperary men's Cup in 1939 and the County Senior title in Thus by the end of that year, just ten short years since the club's foundation the green and gold colours had seen victory on playing fields allover the country and had won South and County honours in all grades. The years from 1944 to the present day have been equally successful yielding many more South and County titles and Tipperarymen'5 Cup victories. Today the club caters for all age groups from under 125 to senior. In the past in victory or defeat Commercials has not only lived up to the highest ideals of the Association but has made an invaluable contribution to the physical well being of the youth of Clonmel. Today the club seeks its ninth County Senior crown. The current club chairman is Tom Pollard, John McNamara is Secretary and Mick O'Connell is Treasurer. 14 The referee for the senior game today is George Ayan from Lattin. George is, of course, a National figure in the refereeing area, having an All Ireland final to his credit and a host of National league games and Munster Champ ionship games also. George is, of course, also very active at administration in his own division, being Chairman of the West Board and also active on a number of Committees. His contributiion to the running of the Association is indeed considerable. The referee for the minor final is Tommy Lonergan from the host Club Kilsheelan. Tommy plays in goal for the local S.F. team and is also very active at all levels of Club activity. Over the past few years Tommy has been the most active referee in the South Division and he is now getting recognition both inside and outside the County, having charge of a national league game and Munster Club Championship game last year. Tommy Lonergan has a great future in front of him as a referee and one day we hope to see him as the man in the middle on All Ireland final day. FETHARD CONSTRUCTION LTD. 17 THE MINOA FINAL Today's curtain-raiser is the Co_ Minor Final between lattin/emly a/ld Templemore_ This will be lattin/emly second year in suceession in the final and they will be hoping to make up for the loss of last year's decider this year, They had fine victories in their own division over Arravale Rovers, Cashel after a replay and beat Aherlow/Soluhead in the West final. They had a Co. Semi final victory over St. Augustines. Their team includes 2 of Tipperary All Ireland minor Hurling team in Mike Cunningham and Mike Corcoran. T emplemore are somewhat of an unknown quantity but it is certain that they have a fairly strong team. They won the Under 16 Co. title in 19BO and their team for teday's final will include many of those players. They had fine wins in their division over Holycross after a replay, Moyne Templetuohy and had a Co.
