Approximately ¼ Mile South of Gateway s between NE 20 th St. & Oak Street, Boynton Beach, FL February 21, 2013 February 26, 2013 Meeting Mark Sosin Plan to attend our February 26th meeting and learn the Techniques & Tactics that make a Successful Fisherman directly from Mark Sosin. He will be there to tell you how it's done. As an award-winning writer, photographer, radio personality, and television producer, MARK SOSIN has an impressive list of credits that span virtually all phases of outdoor communications. He is the Executive Producer and oncamera host of Mark Sosin's Saltwater Journal, which aired nationally and internationally for 27 years. Mark also writes and produces television commercials, as well as, instructional videos for private organizations, the State of Florida, and the federal government.

2 More than 3,000 of his articles have been published in major magazines and newspapers and he is currently working on his 31st book Considered a leading educator, journalist, and one of America's most knowledgeable fishing authorities, MARK SOSIN teaches outdoor techniques through a series of seminars, lectures, and clinics, serves as a consultant to national companies, is an advisor to the International Game Fish Association, and shares his expertise with government agencies and conservation groups. He is a Director Emeritus of The Billfish Foundation and a former Trustee of the University of Florida's Whitney Laboratory. A Past President of the Outdoor Writer's Association of America and recipient of its coveted Excellence In Craft Award as well as its prestigious Ham Brown Award, Sosin holds membership in and received Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Southeastern Outdoor Press Association and Florida Outdoor Writers Association. He has been enshrined in the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame, the Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame, the International Fishing Hall of Fame, and Legends of the Outdoors Hall of Fame Come Early Seating is limited Mark will be selling and Signing his New Book "A Sportsman Memoir" after the Meeting. FISHING REPORT The wind and the ocean have picked up since the weekend but that has not curtailed the fishing action that much. Kingfish and Spanish mackerel are dominating the fishing action for anglers fishing north of the Stuart Inlet. Dolphin fishing is improving for anglers in this area. Fish the rock piles in water 90 feet deep and you may boat your daily bag limit of two kingfish per angler per day even if they remain a lot smaller than the kingfish being caught north of the Jupiter Inlet. If you are looking for Spanish mackerel, head north to the Jupiter Inlet and work the rock reefs, or spend just a little

3 more time on the road and fish south of the St. Lucie Inlet. Use strips of mullet to find the Spanish mackerel then change over to chartreuse colored jigs with a red work trailer. Use a three to four inch wire leader with the jig because some of the Spanish mackerel hitting right now are over 10 pounds. A big Spanish mackerel can bite through heavy monofilament leaders. Vermillion snapper have been the most active reef fish anglers will keep as a rule. Blue runners, triggerfish, porgies and grunts are all taking baits on guppy rigs. Pompano have become active for the past week and this trend should continue for the next month as long as the weather doesn t get any colder or the winds stay brisk for over two weeks, which could happen. It all depends on the cold fronts this time of year and how strong they are. 4 Just a reminder to those of you who actually get to go out fishing. Please fill out your weigh slips and turn them in at the meeting. We are keeping track of all fish caught for our fisherman of the year award You never know you might just be in the running. We would like to have ideas from the members of the club as to what activities you would like to see the club do. If you have any ideas please share them with any of the Board Members so that we can put them on our Agenda for discussion.
