Bring your reels to the meeting and get new line for each one. In addition, there will be some discussion and demonstration on how to make a good fishing knot and an open discussion on great fishing stories. Ask the experts and they will not only tell you but show you. Don t forget, FREE PIZZA, SODA & WATER. COME EARLY AS SEATNG IS LIMITED Raffle drawing will be held. 2 FISHING REPORT Ocean anglers have had some good days loading up on dolphin and kingfish outside the Boynton and Lake Worth Inlets. If the ocean goes near flat calm the ocean fishing is going to slow down. However, the weather forecasters are watching a tropical disturbance which should keep the ocean with a two to four foot chop on it for the next few days. If the weather disturbance comes our way the ocean will get too rough for most boaters. The heat of summer along with the heavy scattered showers is driving this good fishing action and this is the time to be filling your freezer. You should be out fishing right now. Do not let the threat of heavy rainstorms keep you away, most of the rainstorms will not last too long and the fish will be biting. Offshore most of the dolphin caught have weighed in over 15 pounds and many of the kingfish caught have tipped the scale over 10 pounds. These fish have hit a variety of baits and artificial trolling lures, man of which are the same ones your frequently use. For kingfish, anglers can use any live bait available to you around the inlets. Use gold hooks or rings to catch a variety of live baitfish and then head off to the rock reefs located in 65 to 125 feet of water. Most local anglers know where to get their baits wet so head off to your favorite area for kingfish. For those of you who do not know where to fish for kingfish, look for the drift boats or the area where many boats are all drifting and fish your baits in the same area. Early morning, late afternoon and then again as the moon comes up, anglers will be able to boat their daily limit of kingfish. Kings have been caught near the bottom at 40 feet down and at the surface. Dolphin are taking baits from 150 to 300 feet of water. Use whatever trolling lure you prefer, but make sure you use a strip of bonito with the artificial lure. Once you hook into a fish there is a good chance you will attract all the other dolphin swimming with the hooked fish. These free swimming dolphin will stay with the hooked dolphin and that makes them a very vulnerable fish to smart anglers who have pre-rigged rods with half-ounce feathers at the ready. Cobia are often caught at the same time big dolphin are caught while trolling. It is well documented that cobia often travel with large dolphin pairs making the cobia just as valuable a catch. The other good news cobia will strike the same baits you are using for dolphin. Wahoo are active for anglers trolling purple and dark blue lures between 25 and 40 feet deep. Wahoo can be located just outside the kingfish schools and in the open water areas just east of the rock reefs usually fished for kingfish. Troll slightly faster than you would for dolphin and there is a good chance you will catch a wahoo. This months fishing tip: If

3 you trailer your boat, go check your boat trailer tire valve stems. Valve stems can rust and if this happens tire will go flat when you try to put air in the tire and there goes your fishing trip and that means more fish a still alive because you had a flat tire. 4 Please remember to turn in your fish affidavits so that we can keep track of your catches for the running of Fisherman of the Year On Tuesday, July 23 rd we will be visiting Connely Rods Facility for our monthly meeting. Their facility is located at 352 Tall Pines Road, Unit H, West Palm Beach, FL. This is located just west of Jog Road off Southern Blvd. ANYONE who would like to carpool please give me your name so that we can set this up. Several people will be leaving from the clubhouse and will be taking people that want to come along. A map and directions will be provided to anyone who needs one. On Saturday, July 27 th we will be having a No Frills Open Offshore Tournament. This will be King, Dolphin, Wahoo and Blackfin Tuna. Cash prizes will be $250, $150 and $100. The cost is $25.00 per person with a maximum of 4 people per boat. If you want to fish and do not have a boat, please check the website for the Fishing Buddy list and call your fellow members and see if they want to fish. Please visit the website for tournament rules and tournament application. Our Teach Kids to Fish day is rapidly approaching and we need volunteers to help us out. This will be on Thursday June 27, 2013 from 9:00-12:00. This is a great event and all the kids have a great time. We need help with baiting hooks, fixing broken lines and teaching the kids what they need to know about the basics of fishing.

5 The club has a page on Facebook. Please go to Search for Boynton Beach Fishing Club and like our page and join as a member. You can post your fishing pictures and comments for all of us to see. Just a reminder to those of you who actually get to go out fishing. Please fill out your weigh slips and turn them in at the meeting. We are keeping track of all fish caught for our fisherman of the year award You never know you might just be in the running. We would like to have ideas from the members of the club as to what activities you would like to see the club do. If you have any ideas please share them with any of the Board Members so that we can put them on our Agenda for discussion.
