Aug. 8th & 9th The club is hosting its annual 3-person Hotter N Hell Open golf tournament Aug. 8th and 9th at 8:am and 2:00 p.m. start. The format is a 3 person scramble on Sat. and shamble on Sun. 5 More Course News Mark your calendars!!! Sept. 12th & 13th SFAGC Club Championship There will be a division for everybody. Young, old and everybody in between. Gross and Net divisions for every age. The cost will be $10 per person. Please sign up early in the golf shop!! Brazos Cup Results We would like to thank all the players who participated in the 6th Annual Brazos Cup Matches. A good time was had by all! Congratulations to Team Schroeder for taking home the trophy.

7 Annual Board Meeting July 26, 2015 Board President, Jim Havel, called the meeting to order at 2:40 p.m. and welcomed everyone. Mr. Havel then introduced he board members present; Steve Smith, Dusty Yantis, Brian Sodolak, Judy McFarland, John Holmes, Kathy Baker, and David Diestel. Jim Havel asked for approval of the 2014 ABM minutes. Motion made by Mark Boles and 2 nd by Tom Golson. The agenda for the meeting was presented via Power Point (via on a screen on the wall). John Holmes presented the new by-laws and stated the need for the new updates due to the fact that the old by-laws were done over 50 years ago. High-lights of the new by-laws were for 200 members with an initiation fee of $1,000.00, charging interest of past-due members, adding categories for different types of memberships (such as equity, non-equity, and junior). Wayne Schroeder expressed views of existing members cart shed rentals to remain at $20.00 per month with new members paying $40.00 per month. Patricia Walters asked, how many members we currently have. Bobby Browne stated there is 194 regular members, 17 or 18 preview members, and 55 social members. Mark Boles expressed concerns that all members did not receive 30 days to read nor review new proposed by-laws. Sandy Brooks expressed that the new proposed by-laws should be been mailed. Terry Hendley mentioned 50% of votes needed to approve new by-laws. Motion was made by John Sherwood and 2 nd by Andy Fryer to accept the new proposed by-laws. Vote taken. 11 people were against the proposed by-laws, with the remaining in favor of approving the new by-laws. This included all proxies. Butch Baumann brought up discussing trail fees. Cindy Hendley brought up a discussion of past initiation fees of $3500 or $2500 and how that applies to equity members. This and other questions will be addressed at the October meeting. David Diestel discussed the financial condition of the course and the need for the assessment. Dusty Yantis presentation showed the following: Cash $19, Money Market $15, General Fund We are expecting: Income $1,159, Expenses $1,148, Net Income $ 11, An assessment of $500 will be a band-aid to get SFA through February Dusty Yantis discussed the new accounting firm of Seidel-Schroeder taking over the accounting. Bobby Browne explained the problems with RPower and the new system that went into effect this month for future billing statements. Bobby passed around a sample of what the new monthly billing statement will look like.

8 SFA s greatest loss of income was due to inclement weather (Memorial Day Flood 2015, river flooding and a tornado) closing the course for several weeks with a loss of green fee players. Andy Fryer expressed concern over loss of members due to an assessment. Rodney B. wants to know SFA plans to do going forward. There is tractor work, water lines, and bridge repairs to be made. Other concerns about course management concerns: Butch Baumann stated that boxes were made for broken tees on every tee box were broken and thrown away. Susan Baumann stated that suggestions were made last year for a member work day to help with clean up. Mike McFarland stated that the lack of care for the course equipment is obvious and the eye-sore of the tractor barn on Hole #16. John Brooks stated there needs to be better course marketing. Brian Sodolak stated there needs to be more restaurant support. Should Pro-shop be taken over by regular membership. Don Palmer suggested maybe some members would be able to donate more than the requested $500 for an assessment. Citizens State Bank in Sealy has given us a 3-month extension on our principal loan payment. Steve Riley asked if the club was operating effectively before the flood. The response that was stated, no it was not. Now it is a must to raise revenue. Tom Golson made a motion to approve the assessment, 2 nd by John Brooks, motion passed. Other items of interest and suggestions: Matt Webb has very generously donated his time, equipment, and crew to complete the repairs on Hole #12. He has also volunteered to help with regular maintenance at his expense for one year, if we will close the course for a half day once a month. We pay for the parts and he will furnish the labor. Mike McFarland suggests charging past due accounts 2% monthly and posting on the bulletin board. Joe Peel suggest up-grading the restaurant in regards to food and beverage being offered. Motion made by Butch Baumann to adjourn and 2 nd by Ed Wilder. Motion passed.
