5 2 nd Annual Houghton Lake Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing When: Tuesday August 13, 2013, Registration begins at 8:00am. Shotgun start at 9:00am. A continental breakfast will be provided as well as a post event meal, available in the clubhouse. Lunch is on your own, available in the clubhouse. Where: The Quest Golf Club, 119 Questview Dr Houghton Lake, MI (989) Format: Four (4) person team scramble format (single players, twosomes, and threesomes will be paired at the discretion of the tournament committee). 7 Know Your Numbers Screening Helps in Understanding Health Risks HOUGHTON LAKE, Mich. -- MidMichigan Community Health Services will help you Know Your Numbers during a health fair at MidMichigan Health Park Houghton Lake, 9249 West Lake City Road, on Tuesday, Aug. 13, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Knowing your numbers can predict risk for heart disease, stroke or diabetes and provide the information needed for living a longer, healthier life. By knowing these important numbers, individuals can create a plan for improving those that need to be better and developing a lifestyle to keep those numbers in line. In fact, taking steps to lower blood pressure and cholesterol will also bring other vital numbers - pulse rate, body mass index, blood glucose and bone density - into a healthy range. Also, information will be provided about diabetes prevention, exercise and physical activity, skin safety and nutrition. Included will be a free Know Your Numbers screening for the following tests: body mass index (BMI); blood pressure check; blood glucose screening; (fasting not required); cholesterol screening (fasting required); and heel bone density screening. This health fair is being held in conjunction with the Houghton Lake Ambulance service open house (located on site, south of MidMichigan Health Park-Houghton Lake, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Ambulance tours and child safety seat checks will be available. Registration is required for the cholesterol screening only. Call MidMichigan Health Line tollfree at (800) for an appointment time. All other screenings will be provided on a firstcome, first-serve basis. MidMichigan Community Health Services is a federally-qualified community health center (FQHC) serving Houghton Lake, Michigan and the surrounding areas and providing primary and specialty health care for all, with a particular emphasis on access for the underserved. MidMichigan Health is a non-profit health system now affiliated with the University of Michigan Health System. It is headquartered in Midland, Mich. and covers a 14-county region with medical centers in Alma, Clare, Gladwin and Midland, and urgent care centers, home care, nursing homes, physicians, medical offices and other specialty services. MidMichigan has 6,300 employees, physicians and volunteers. Last year, MidMichigan provided $88 million in charity care and other benefits to improve the health of the communities MidMichigan serves.

8 MERCY HOSPITAL GRAYLING NEWS RELEASE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Date: August 1, 2013 Internal Medicine Physician Joins Mercy Physician Network Prudenville James Gee, MD, will begin seeing patients in August GRAYLING, MI The Mercy Physician Network is pleased to welcome Internal Medicine physician James Gee, MD to its Prudenville team. Dr. Gee will begin caring for adult patients in August. Dr. Gee attended medical school at the Ross University School of Medicine and completed his residency at St. Joseph s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. Dr. Gee is a former Officer of the United States Army having served several years in the military s Medical Corps. As an internist, I am able to enjoy ongoing, long-term relationships and follow my patients over the course of years. I strive to take an approach where my patients and I function as a team to address health issues, recognizing that each patient is an individual with different backgrounds, preferences and beliefs, said Dr. Gee. Having grown up in a small farming community, Dr. Gee is anxious to get back to his roots of small town living. Moving to northern Michigan with his wife and their five boys, Dr. Gee and his family are looking forward to becoming part of the community.
