RWGA LOCAL RULES USGA Rules of Golf shall govern except as modified by the following local rules: 1. When a winter rules notice is posted, a ball lying in your fairway may be lifted and cleaned, without penalty, placed within 6 inches of where it originally lay, not nearer the hole, and so as to preserve as nearly as possible the stance required to play from the original lie. A ball so lifted is back in play when the player addresses it or, if she does not address it, when she makes her next stroke at the ball. 2. Anywhere through the green a ball embedded in its own pitch mark may be lifted without penalty, cleaned and dropped as near as possible to the spot where it lay but not nearer the hole. Note: Through the green does not include bunkers and water hazards. 3. Hole #6. There will be a drop area for a ball hit in the water. You may re-tee, but will be hitting 3 either way. Ball over green on cart path can be moved to drop area to left of green. No penalty. 4. Hole #17. If you hit your tee shot into planted area in front of Blue Tee Box you may drop on the Gold Tee Box and you are hitting All in-ground yardage markers to be treated as immovable obstructions. Nearest relief, no nearer hole, no penalty. 6. The 2017 Local Rule for Accidental Movement of a 9
Ball on the Putting Green is in effect. This means that if a player accidentally moves her ball on the green, she must replace it. There is no penalty. If wind moves the ball, there is no penalty and the ball must be played from its new position. Note: All sand areas are bunkers. There are no waste areas on the course. 10
PACE OF PLAY RECOMMENDATIONS 1. Watch each player s ball as they hit, especially off the tee or into the sun. 2. Take more than one club to the ball; take the club you think you need along with those you might need. 3. Park the cart past the green and move onto the next hole before scoring. 4. Do your socializing or talking in the cart on the way to the next shot, not while it s your turn to play. 5. Play ready golf whenever possible including on the putting green. Implement continuous putting when possible. 6. If movement does not interfere or disturb the player addressing her ball, the next player should WALK to her ball and be ready to play. Cart partner can then move cart up to her. 7. Adjust your speed of play to push the group ahead of yours rather than staying ahead of the group behind yours. 8. Consider allowing the group behind you to play through if you are having difficulty staying up with the group ahead of yours, or if you are looking for lost balls. 9. Support and comply with the requests of the course Marshall. He is there to do a service for all players. 11
RWGA HANDICAPS AND USGA SCORING GUIDELINES Course Handicaps and USGA Handicap Indexes. The RWGA Constitution requires members to maintain an 18-hole course handicap. Prospective RWGA members shall have a current 18-hole handicap index not to exceed the USGA maximum for women. Members play to a maximum course handicap of 40 for RWGA Playdays, Tournaments, and Guest Days. Adjusting scores. The maximum score the golfer can post on any hole, depending on handicap, is as follows: Course Handicap Maximum Score to be Posted on Any Hole 0-9 Double Bogey and up 10 Posting scores. For events designated as tournaments at Rivermont or other courses, post as a "tournament" score. (A list of designated tournaments is posted in the locker room.) For play at other courses that do not qualify as tournaments, post as an "away" score. (Note: The computer used for posting contains the slope and course ratings and names of all Georgia courses.) 12
Post all scores when at least 7 holes have been played for 9 hole posting, and 13 holes have been played for 18 hole posting. (e.g., you leave the course before completion of 9 or 18 holes). Scores for holes not played are entered as par plus handicap strokes for each unplayed hole. If you start play on a hole but do not hole out (e.g. match play or team play), for handicap purposes record the strokes you most likely would have made within your equitable stroke control limit. Scores for incomplete holes should be preceded by an "X" (e.g. "X6") on the card. Do not post scores for formats where you are hitting from someone else's shot (e.g. Ft. Lauderdale) or you are limited to a specific type or number of clubs (e.g. all irons or less than 14 clubs). RWGA GENERAL INFORMATION RWGA Playdays. Sign up to play on Thursday mornings from March to November in Locker Room. Player may sign-up only one other player on sign-up sheet (sign-up sheet is put out one week prior to the next playday). If a player fails to sign-in, in the locker room before play, she will be unable to receive any prize money. All cards must be filled out completely, signed and given to Golf Shop at end of play. The last players of the day are responsible for giving the Golf Shop the next week s playday sheet. Participants play to a maximum handicap of 40. Prizes, by flight, are awarded as Golf Shop credit. Beginning in 2015, signups also become available online 13
after the playday. Also introduced was the Game of the Week (GotW) wherein players could turn in a scorecard any day of that week and be eligible for prize money. Playday Game of the Week Rules Play days with asterisks may be played anytime Friday to Thursday prior to the play day. You must play with another RWGA member. You must exchange scorecards. If you are playing any day other than Thursday Play Day, you must turn in your scorecard (signed, dated and attested by another RWGA member) to the Pro Shop that day and let them know that this is the scorecard for the RWGA Game of the Week. Should you decide to also play on Thursday, the scorecard turned in prior to Thursday is the official scorecard. Putt Cup is for Thursday participants only. Pins for breaking 100,90,80. Notify Handicap Chair within 20 days. Awards are made only for participation on organized RWGA playdays. A pin is awarded to member who has not previously broken said score with an organized women's golf association. Guest days. The Member/Guest day, held each year charges an entry fee. For the other designated guest day, RWGA members may invite golfing friends to play at Rivermont. Guests must have an established USGA 18-hole handicap index and play to a maximum handicap of 40. A golfing member of Rivermont is not eligible as a guest. Greens fees are waived for guests. 14
Birdies, chip-ins and ringers. Prizes are awarded at end of season by flight, for the most birdies, chip-ins and best total scores based on ringers posted on playdays and RWGA tournaments. Must only include events where your own ball is played tee to green. Pay fee to committee at anytime. Hole-in-one fund. This fund optional. Participants pay when joining and as needed after a hole-in-one payout. The hole-in-one must be made during a round of 18 holes any time of year at Rivermont and witnessed by at least one other player. Cancellation of Event. If the Pro Shop deems the course to be unplayable or the weather dangerous, the event may be canceled. If a play day is not canceled and as many as 4 people play and finish, 1/3 of the money will be paid in prizes. If just one player finishes, with an attested score, she will receive a prize determined by the play day chairman. RWGA ANNUAL TOURNAMENTS Match Play Tournament: Single elimination match play event.
