However, please feel free to contact me for any specific questions that you may have. Our Club is a sparkling gem nestled atop the Blue Ridge mountains. We are located on one of the heights mountain ridges in all of Western North Carolina. Our private club takes country club living to new heights. Our Club combines a great golf course, superb food, a caring staff and most of all - our friendly membership that makes new members feel at home. Since 1999 our membership has grown to approximately 300 members, enjoying the golf and country club experience. There has never been a better time to join Wolf Laurel Country Club. 5 Social Equity Membership A Social Equity Membership entitles the member to all of the dining, lounge and social facilities of the Wolf Laurel Country Club. Members may use the golf facilities, three (3) rounds annually, in accordance with the Wolf Laurel Country Club rules and upon payment of the required fees as set by the Board of Directors of Wolf Laurel Country Club. Wolf Laurel Country Club is your center for dining, social activities, WIFI and shopping in our Pro Shop. The dining room is open Tuesday through Saturday for lunch and dinner and on Sunday for brunch. Join the Mah Jongg group on Monday s and the Bridge group on Tuesday s. Check out the Wolf Laurel Country Club annual calendar for more social events at Golf Equity Membership A Golf Membership entitles the member to unlimited use of the golf facilities with privileges to reserve tee times as established by the Board. They will not be charged green fees, but will be charged cart fees as established by the Board. In addition, the member may use the dining, lounge and social facilities of the Wolf Laurel Country Club. The golf course is open seven days a week from May 1 st through October 31 st, weather permitting. Pro Shop hours of operation are daily from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Other membership services available are golf club storage, golf handicap service and lessons from Bobby Anglin, PGA Pro. 8 Swing of Things: Elevate Your Game at Wolf Laurel by Chuck Werle The Laurel of Asheville Elevate your game? That slogan, which should be mandatory for all golfers here in the mountains, really rings true at Wolf Laurel Country Club just 45 minutes north of Asheville off I-26. If you missed the opportunity to play this incredible course at a special reduced greens fee in August, you will have to wait until next year when the 300 member private club will be receptive to new members. What makes Wolf Laurel special? For one thing, it is the highest course in the Eastern half of the United States-at nearly 5,000 feet. Secondly, Wolf Laurel is the only course in the entire nation where the course is higher than the adjoining ski slopes. Much higher. Admittedly, the Telluride Ski and Golf Club in Colorado at 10,000 feet is higher. I ve played that course, however, and the ski slopes there are far above the fairways, which do not compare to Wolf Laurel. Wolf Laurel is set in a high-mountain gated community and has more elevated tees than my ancient eyes could fathom. And, yes, the scenery is spectacular. William B. Lewis, who must be part mountain goat, designed the course. Yardage fro the blue tees is a mere 6, 301 but the slope rating from there is 144. Ouch. Bobby Anglin who has been golf pro at Wolf Laurel for four years, confesses there are more of the 18 holes stretching toward the sky than downhill. And while the entire course is beautiful, there is very limited rough bordering on lots of tall trees and underbrush. Many shots off the fairways are yet t be found. There are four sets of tees to accommodate golfers of all skill levels. The last three holes have been designated The Wolf Pack - very treacherous with a total of 13 strokes to match par. My golfing partners were intimidated and so was I. Many of the members and staff are still talking about a midsummer achievement that is difficult to imagine. Two members from Chicago in their 40s, Chris Stec and Mike Gordon, walked the entire course while toting pedometers and verified a distance of six miles, mostly up those steep slopes. No one is mentioning their scores. As seen in There is another distinction at Wolf Laurel. It is truly a masterpiece of environmental habitat. The William Lewis designed golf course is a challenging 18 hole course with some of the most breathtaking and dramatic mountain vistas in the country. It is 6, 300 yard golf course from the blue tees with a USGA slope rating of 132, and fairways that wrap around our mountainsides for awesome scenery. Our signature hole drops more than 150 from tee to green. With our scenery it may be a challenge to concentrate on golf. One very unique feature is our direct access to the Appalachian Trail. The AT runs along the northern boundary of Wolf Laurel making hiking a very popular pastime. There are three access points in the resort to the Trail. The Trail runs across Big Bald Mountain where NC and TN boundaries meet. Several acres surrounding the AT have been sold to the National Forest to protect this pristine treasure. In summer months, horseback riding is a favorite pastime. With Wolf Laurel having three boundaries joining protected lands, there are many trails to ride back into the woods. Many properties in the resort are secluded and join the protected lands giving the privacy a lot of folks seek. The Village Amenity Program offers many activities for your enjoyment. Activities include: Community center with library and Wi-Fi, Tai Chi, Yoga, Summer kids camp, Water aerobics, Swimming & Tennis. Fitness classes including strength, balance, & stretching, Craft & Cooking classes, Tours of the area, Fishing in our Stocked trout pond, and Friday nighters with entertainment from local musicians and storytellers.
