Dear Boys Championship Neshanic Valley Golf Course (Meadow & Lake Nines) Neshanic Station, New Jersey Wednesday-Thursday June 27-28, 2018 MEMORANDUM TO PLAYERS PLEASE READ CAREFULLY ** PLAYERS MUST CHECK IN AT REGISTRATION UPON THEIR ARRIVAL ** ** PLAYERS MUST REPORT TO THEIR STARTING TEE 10 MINUTES BEFORE THEIR STARTING TIME ** TIME OF STARTING Rule 6-3 states: The player must start at the time established by the Committee. Penalty for breach: If the player arrives at his/her starting point within five (5) minutes after his starting time, the penalty for failure to start on time is two strokes. Otherwise, the penalty for breach of this rule is disqualification. WITHDRAWAL PRIOR TO 6:30 a.m. on 6/27: Notify the NJSGA by phone ( ) or AFTER 6:30 a.m. on 6/27: A player must call the Neshanic Valley Golf Shop at (908) and ask that a message is forwarded to the NJSGA. No-shows will be suspended from competitions for one year. EQUIPMENT 1. The USGA Groove and Punch Mark Specifications (effective Jan. 1, 2010) are in effect for this competition. ** The NJSGA strongly suggests that all players verify the conformance of their clubs well in advance of the competition. It is the player s responsibility, not the NJSGA s responsibility to ensure that all clubs conform. Waiting until the day of the competition is the fault of the player. The Committee is under no obligation to test the club, nor will testing mechanism(s) be available at NJSGA competitions. The competitor may play. However, if it is later determined that the club is non-conforming, including after the competition has closed, the player will be disqualified.** 2. Only brands of golf balls on the USGA s latest list of conforming golf balls may be used. a. The One-Ball Condition is NOT in effect. 3. Only drivers on the current USGA s Conforming driver-head list will be permitted. 4. Spikeless shoes only are permitted on the course and practice areas. Spikeless shoes include Soft-spikes, golf shoes with rubber treads, and sneakers. 5. The NJSGA permits the use of Distance Measuring Devices in accordance with Decision 14-3/0.5 which states that players may use devices to measure or gauge DISTANCE ONLY. However, the use of a distance-measuring to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect a player s play (e.g. gradient, wind speed, temperature) is NOT permitted. Refer to Rule 14-3 for penalty schedule. For more details regarding equipment, please refer to the notice posted at DRESS CODE Players and spectators must be dressed appropriately. The Committee reserves the right to determine appropriate dress. Girls: Acceptable Attire: Sleeveless shirts with a collar, round neck shirts with sleeves, and turtlenecks. Shirts, without hems must be tucked in. Appropriate shorts and skirts; Capri pants and slacks. Unacceptable Attire: Denim; cargo pants; short or tight-fitting shorts and skirts; athletic and tennis attire; warm-up suits; tank tops, tube tops; halter tops; and revealing tops exposing bare midriff or low cut necklines. Skirts must be no higher above the knee than the length of a fingertip. Boys: Cargo shorts/pants, denim, t-shirts, undershirts, flip-flops, and sandals are not permitted. Acceptable dress includes: A Collared Dress Shirt, Golf or Polo Shirt (tucked in). Hats/visors must be worn forward. CONDUCT & COURTESY 1. Exemplary conduct is expected of all players and spectators. Conduct deemed to be inappropriate may result in disqualification and/or future rejection of entries. 2. Players must use the locker room for change of shoes and clothing. 3. The use of cell phones is PROHIBITED on the golf course (this applies to players and spectators).

2 SCORECARDS & SCORING RULES Official Scorecards will be distributed by the NJSGA starter on the starting tee. Upon completing the round, players must report directly to the scoring table where scores shall be checked for each hole and doubtful points settled with the committee. Both the player and marker must sign each scorecard. LOCAL RULES 1. USGA Rules shall govern play. Local Rules will be distributed on the starting tees. 2. Please refer to the NJSGA Conditions of Competition Hard-Card posted at CLUBHOUSE/LOCKER/PRACTICE FACILITIES All facilities (clubhouse, locker room, driving range, putting green) will open at 6:30 a.m. The range fee has been waived, compliments of Neshanic Valley Golf Course. PACE OF PLAY Timing guidelines will be established and indicated on each official score card. Slow play will be monitored; consistent slow play will be penalized. FORMAT. SCHEDULE, & ROUND 2 STARTING TIMES The Girls Championship and Boys Championship will be conducted at the same time, however the championships are separate and independent of each other. The competitions will be held at different yardages (see separate document for details). Each Championship is 36-Holes, Stroke- Play Gross Scoring; 18 holes will be played on Wednesday, June 27 and Thursday, June 28 with starting times beginning at 7:30 a.m. each day. Players will be re-paired for the second round on June 28 according to their round 1 score. This information will be available at approximately 90 minutes after the conclusion of play on 6/27. In the event of a tie for the championship, a hole by hole playoff will be held to determine the champion. Prizes will be awarded to the Champion, runner-up, and third place finisher in each competition. TRANSPORTATION / CADDIES CADDIES AND MOTORIZED TRANSPORTATION ARE BOTH PROHIBITED in this competition. A player must walk; he/she may carry his/her bag or bring a pull/push cart (there are no pull/push carts available for rent). FOOD & BEVERAGE Food and beverage, snacks, breakfast and lunch will be available on a cash basis in the restaurant each day. INCLEMENT WEATHER The NJSGA will exhaust every effort to conduct the competition on its scheduled dates. Play would only be disrupted in the case of lightning or unplayable course conditions. Anyone in doubt as to whether play might be delayed, suspended, or cancelled should check the NJSGA web site: for information. PRACTICE ROUND AND COURSE YARDAGE See separate notice. Players and their parents/guardians are reminded that the player will be held accountable for his/her conduct, as well as the conduct of the parent/guardian both in relation to the practice round and during the championship. SPECTATOR POLICY All spectators are reminded that Caddies are NOT permitted in this competition. An outside agency (i.e. parent/ spectator/ guest) is NOT permitted to offer advice or information, carry clubs or equipment, or otherwise assist or interfere with any player during his round. Parents, spectators, and guests are advised that a breach of this condition may result in the removal of the spectator from the premises, and/or a penalty to or disqualification of the player depending upon the circumstances. NJSGA Officials and Staff will NOT issue warnings. In the interest of protecting the field and ensuring a rewarding and enjoyable experience for all, please DO NOT engage in any action which may possibly be viewed (or misconstrued) as interference. Spectators should keep their distance from play and the players, and remain clear of fairways, tees, and greens. SPECTATOR CARTS ARE NOT PERMITTED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Dear Boys Championship Neshanic Valley Golf Course (Meadow & Lake Nines) - Neshanic Station, New Jersey Wednesday & Thursday, June 27-28, 2018 PRACTICE ROUND NOTICE Neshanic Valley Golf Course has graciously offered one (1) practice round at a reduced rate for contestants entered in either the 64 th NJSGA Junior Girls Championship or 48 th NJSGA Boys Championship in advance of the event. The designated dates, times, and rates follow. Please be advised that no non-playing (or paying) person is permitted to accompany a player on the golf course during his/her practice round. Appropriate conduct by the player and his/her parent/guardian is required. Please also note that players will be held accountable for the conduct of their parent/guardian during the practice round. * The Meadow Nine is the Front Nine (1-9); the Lake Nine is the Back Nine (10-18) * A player who wishes to take advantage of his/her one (1) practice round at a reduced rate must call the Neshanic Valley Golf Shop at and ask for Al Conover or Brendan Faust. Practice Rounds must be scheduled in advance. Walk-ups will NOT be accommodated at the designated, reduced-rate. Designated Dates/Times: Weekdays (Mon.-Fri.): June 19, 20, 21, 22, 25 & 26 10:00 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. for a $45.00 fee; 2:30 p.m. 3:30 p.m. for a $30.00 fee. Weekends (Sat.-Sun.): June 23 & 24 2:40 p.m. 3:40 p.m. for a $45.00 fee. Conditions & Other Information: Practice rounds will be walking unless a player has a valid Driver s License to operate a golf cart. Pull carts are allowed but players must bring their own. There are no pull carts available at Neshanic Valley. There are no spectators, no caddies, and no non-playing cart drivers allowed for any rounds of golf at Neshanic Valley. (Spectators are welcome during the Championship.) Players must have a valid Driver s License to operate a golf cart. Regular rates and tee time rules will apply for any additional rounds beyond the one designated, reduced-rate practice round. Friends and family may play at regular rates but must have their own golf bag and set of clubs.
