Tri-State members will be notified by as soon as the site goes live. The Tri-State Section PGA Annual Spring Meeting will be held at Montour Heights Country Club on Monday, March 25. Registration will begin at 8:00AM. A buffet breakfast will be available from 8:30AM until 9:45AM. The meeting will be called to order at 10:00AM. A special thank you goes out to Dick s Sporting Goods and PGA National Resort & Spa for sponsoring our Spring Meeting! Members will earn 2 MSR Required Meeting Credits for attending the meeting. A free Education Seminar will be held immediately following the Spring Meeting hosted by Mizuno. All members attending this seminar will earn two MSR Required Education Credits! PRESIDENT S MESSAGE NEWS UPDATE Please see the enclosed information sheet for the new rules and regulations for MSR (Member Services Requirement) as defined by the PGA Membership Committee effective June 16, The new MSR period will run thru June 15, 2015! Fifty-four (54) credits are required for the three-year cycle. 36 of the credits must be earned thru Required Meeting/Education/Golf 2.0/Player Development Category! The 2013 PGA of America National Special Awards Program is now available. The PGA of America has requested that all applications be done electronically. If you would like an application, Karen at kdarak@pgahq.com and she will the form to you. Please take time to nominate a deserving Tri-State Section PGA professional! Complete the 2013 PGA Golf Professional Compensation Survey at PGAlinks.com prior to March 15th and earn MSR credit provided the maximum for this category has not been met. Completing the Survey will update your Profile and is required to stay active in Career Links. 5 PGA Financial Assistance Fund Scholarship Program Fact Sheet Graduating high school seniors and college students who are the children or grandchildren of PGA members are invited to apply online at the home page (before you log in) of PGALinks.com to be considered for financial support for college through the PGA Financial Assistance Fund Scholarship Program. The scholarship program is an academic based scholarship program that takes into account the following depending on the class level of the student: High School Graduating Senior - High School Cumulative Grade Point Average must be at least 3.4 (60% of the scholarship weighting scale). This number is to be an unweighted GPA based on a 4.0 scale. - ACT and/or SAT test scores (30% of the scholarship weighting scale) - Extracurricular activities in high school such as sports, clubs, student government, community service, part time employment, etc. (10% of the scholarship weighting scale). Current College Student (has not reached their senior year in college) - College Cumulative Grade Point Average must be at least 3.4 (60% of the scholarship weighting scale) - Most recently completed college semester or quarter GPA (30% of the scholarship weighting scale) - Extracurricular activities in college such as sports, clubs, student government, community service, part time employment, etc. (10% of the scholarship weighting scale) The amount and number of scholarships is determined by the availability of funds, and may vary from year to year based on these factors and IRS guidelines. In 2012 eight $5,000 scholarships were awarded and 126 $2,000 scholarships were awarded out of 848 applications. Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the PGA Scholarship Committee. The scholarship is for accredited Universities or Colleges in the United States only. The application process is live online ( between November 15, 2012 and March 15, 2013 and students are asked to wait until they are in possession of their most current grade report (first semester) or transcript before applying. The applicant must enter the students Social Security number and the PGA affiliated parent or grandparents PGA ID number to gain access to the application. 9 TSPGA Players Code of Conduct Any participant deemed guilty of conduct unbecoming a professional while participating in TSPGA tournaments or in activities related thereto (e.g. practice rounds, charity events, etc.) shall be subject to fine, suspension and/or permanent disbarment from tournament play as provided in this policy. A fine of up to $100 shall be levied for the 1st offense. A fine of up to $150 shall be levied for the second offense, and a prohibition from participating in TSPGA events for 1 year will be levied for the third offense. Any participant that is found guilty of more than 3 offenses for conduct unbecoming a professional may, at the sole discretion of the TSPGA, be permanently prohibited from participation in TSPGA tournaments and also may be subject to PGA of America Code of Ethics Charges as provided in the PGA of America Constitution and By-laws. All fines must be paid in full before a participant is eligible to compete in future events. * Club throwing/ club breaking. * Damage to course equipment or property. * Profanity directed to tournament staff, other competitors, sponsors, volunteers, or others. * Talking negatively at a tournament site about sponsor, golf course, host professional, etc. * Not settling your cart rental or any other charges at a host club by the end of the day. * Improper golf car etiquette (not obeying rules on course or around clubhouse). * Consumption of alcoholic beverages during tournament rounds. * Usage of cellular telephones on the golf course during a tournament round. * Wearing a hat in the clubhouse (particularly eating area). * Changing shoes and clothes in parking lot when locker room services are available. * Any other conduct deemed by the TSPGA Tournament Committee as unbecoming a Golf Professional.

10 2013 TRI-STATE SECTION AMATEUR PRO-AM EVENT ELIGIBILITY PRO-SCRATCH EVENTS To be eligible to participate in a Pro-Scratch Amateur Event an amateur must: Be invited by an eligible TSPGA Member or Apprentice in Good Standing. PRO-AM EVENTS USING HANDICAPS To be eligible to participate in a handicapped Pro-Am Event an amateur must: Be invited by an eligible TSPGA Member or Apprentice, and; Possess a current USGA Handicap Index, proof of which must be presented at the tournament site. This regulation pertains to Pro-3 Amateur events and does not include the Las Vegas Pro-AM. Once a team wins a TSPGA Pro-3 Amateur the professional is only permitted to bring back as playing partners two (2) of the original winning team members for future Pro-3 Am events. Once an amateur has won twice with the same professional, playing partner, he is NOT permitted to play with that professional, as an amateur partner, for the remainder of the calendar tournament season. Penalty for non-compliance will be disqualification and suspension from all TSPGA events for one (1) calendar year. SPECIAL NOTE If a professional intends to invite an amateur(s) who is a member at a facility other than his own, the inviting professional is required to ask permission of the Head Golf Professional at the amateur s facility before he invites that amateur(s) to play in a Pro-Am Event. Failure to ask permission will be considered a breach of the PGA Code of Ethics. The penalty will be suspension from all TSPGA Events for one (1) calendar year.
