Colima Road Walnut, CA Clubhouse Website The Team Play season has come to an end. As always we came together as a team to represent Royal Vista. It is always a very enjoyable experience to play against the other clubs. If you ever have the chance to participate in Team Play, please do so you will have a great time. A big thanks to Captain Arron Esparza for this efforts in organizing and running the team. The Spring Fling is scheduled for May 4th and 5th. Two days of golf in Palm Springs, seeing old friends, and spending time with loved ones. Come joins us this year, bring your wife, girlfriend, or come alone, everyone is welcome. You get 2 days of Golf, Breakfast and Lunch both days, a Cocktail Party, very generous Payouts, and Tee Prize. The flyer and information will be sent out this month. Please make your plans to come out to this event; you will be glad you did. As always, this is your club, if you have any suggestions to make us stronger, please let me know. 4 Aaron Esparza Vice President Members, After a couple of weeks of postponements due to bad weather and related conditions we finished up our Team Play season. I would like to congratulate Eagle Glen as they won our grouping and will be moving on to the playoffs. Even though we are not advancing, I am very proud of our team members for their commitment and their passion for competition. I would like to thank Azam Aleemuddin, Rafael Barajas, Kevin Bowers, Pat Canty, John Cawdrey, Tim Devaney, Mark Gallant, Rick Gonzales, Ryan Husted, Randy Jackson, Jim Jastrab, Alex Lira, Efren Lira, Pancho Lira, Bob Mora, Jorge Morales, Craig Ozols, Kriss Ozols, Al Parsakian, Doug Peterson, Carl Salamon, Kevin Smola, and John Walker for teeing it up and representing our club. I would also like to thank my MVP OK Doyle for participating in all 6 matches while commuting from Palm Desert. I love his positive attitude and cheerful disposition, and great golf game, he won 5 of 6 matches (wow). Coming Soon! Saturday Skins Game with CPs (4 holes) Our hope is to have enough participation to have 2 flights. This event will also be open to guests with established verifiable handicaps. More information to come. The credit belongs to the person who is actually in the arena; whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again; who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions and spends oneself in a worthy cause; who at best, knows in the end the triumph of high achievement; and who at worst, if they fail, at least fails while daring greatly, so that their place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat. Doctor asked, Do you smoke or drink. No, I don t Doctor asked, Do you Eat a lot of red meat? No I don t. Doctor asked, Do you spend a lot o time in the sun golfing, sailing, or biking. No I don t Doctor asked, Do gamble, drive fast cars, or have a lot of sex. No I don t Doctor asked, Then why the hell do you want to live to be 80?

6 Kriss Ozols - Secretary Rain Rain Rain Rain Rain Rain Well once again we are having a wet winter, and if you look at the hills and mountains it is green everywhere and looks like we are getting the well needed rain. As for golfing my game has gone downhill in the last 4 months and the SCGA has realized that I am playing really bad and it is much worse than my potential. Therefore they have given me a gift with my Handicap Index this past month, it is an R next to my index. This is an restriction saying that I am playing much worse than my potential as seen in my tournament scores posted within the past year. All tournament scores remain as a factor for one year with regards to calculation of your handicap. This is what I received from the SCGA in their words: If you have an R after your Handicap Index (i.e., 13.7R) it means your Handicap Index has automatically been reduced due to two exceptional tournament scores within the last 12 months (Section 10-3 of the USGA Handicap System). In a nutshell the SCGA has labeled me as a Sandbagger, as will many of my playing partners, but somehow my wallet has been getting thinner each time out. I guess this is just part of the game we all love to play, see you guys out there.

8 Doug Peterson - Treasurer From the Treasurer---Gentlemen, we are "solvent" with $20, in the bank and all current expenses paid. We have a few team play costs to be figured in over the next few weeks but I doubt solvency will be challenged. It seems many of you want to spend what the bank has to offer so we are looking to add a men's club touch to the bar area...costs unknown but your wishes will be fulfilled as new accouterments will adorn the computer corner...eta to be determined. "ETA to be determined" is also what we have for the arrival of Spring, which forgot to get here last year with El Nino, but seems to be lagging this year with our record rains reeking havoc on our courses and our handicaps. That will not be the case with our 36th Annual Spring Fling tournament, which will go off as scheduled on May 4th and 5th. As in recent years, we will play Tahquitz Creek both days with a blind draw for teams once our participants have identified themselves. We've gotten a break in costs from the golf course, which will be reflected in the entry fee ($250-$260, vs. last years $275), but our host hotel and rates are still..."to be determined"...sorry, but new management at the Marriott is playing hardball with us. Suffice to say, rooms will be around $100 per night and the host hotel will be close and comfortable. A flier will be attached to this Birdie...if I can nail down the details...or be forthcoming asap...time "to be determined". Look for it, expect it, and plan for it. The weather is great, the rain has created unusually lush conditions on the courses, the tournament is a great chance to catch up with guys you haven't seen in awhile and the hit it, find it, hit it again experience in the desert might find you collecting part of the $5000 in prize money. Come join the fun, and bring a friend.

10 Tim Devaney Past President Kriss and Craig Ozols growing up in Georgia as related by their father Andy. Kriss as a 6 year old asks, "You know what? I think it's about time we started learning to cuss." 4 year old Craig nods his head in approval. Kriss continues, When we go in for breakfast, I'm gonna say something with hell and you say something with ass." Craig agrees with enthusiasm. When their mother walks into the kitchen and asks Kriss what he wants for breakfast, he replies, "Aw, hell, Mom, I guess I'll have some Cheerios. WHACK! He flies out of his chair, tumbles across the kitchen floor, gets up, and runs upstairs crying his eyes out, with his mother in hot pursuit, slapping his rear with every step. His mom locks him in his room and shouts, "You can stay there until I let you out!" She then comes back downstairs, looks at Craig and asks with a stern voice, "And what do YOU want for breakfast, young man?" "I don't know," he blubbers, "but you can bet your fat ass it won't be Cheerios!"
