3 The Canadian Cup Dressage Festival is a Gold / Bronze sanctioned competition member # of Equestrian Canada, and is governed by the current rules of Equestrian Canada, 308 Leggett Drive, #100, Ottawa ON K2K 1Y6. Equestrian Canada Rules Gold and Bronze Divisions Every class offered herein is covered by the rules and specifications of Equestrian Canada will he held and judged in accordance with the current EC General Regulations and Dressage Rule Books. (A602.2) Knowledge of the rules is the responsibility of the competitor. Please direct any questions regarding rules to the stewards on the grounds at the competition. (A801) Every entry at an EC-sanctioned competition shall constitute an agreement by the person responsible that the owner, lessee, trainer, manager, agent, coach, driver or rider and horse shall be subject to the Equestrian Canada (EC) constitution and all rules of EC and any additional rules set by the competition. It is the responsibility of all individuals participating in any capacity in EC-sanctioned competitions to be knowledgeable regarding the EC constitution and the applicable rules of EC and the additional rules, if any, imposed by the competition. Do not participate in this EC- sanctioned competition in any capacity if you do not consent to be bound by the constitution and rules of EC and any additional rules imposed by the competition. (A602.7) Statement of Principle Equestrian Canada (EC), the national equestrian federation of Canada, supports adherence to humane treatment of horses in all activities under its jurisdiction. EC is committed to: Upholding the welfare of the horses, regardless of value, as a primary consideration in all activities; Requiring that horses be treated with kindness, respect and the compassion that they deserve, and that they never be subjected to mistreatment; Ensuring that owners, trainers and exhibitors or their agents use responsible care in the handling, treatment and transportation of their horses as well as horses placed in their care for any purpose; Providing for the continuous well-being of horses by encouraging routine inspection and consultation with health care professionals and competition officials to achieve the highest possible standards of nutrition, health, comfort and safety as a matter of standard operating procedure; Continuing to support scientific studies on equine health and welfare; Requiring owners, trainers and exhibitors to know and follow their sanctioning organization s rules, and to work within industry regulations in all equestrian competition; Reviewing, revising and developing competition rules and regulations that protect the welfare of the horses. The standard by which conduct or treatment will be measured is that which a person, informed and experienced in generally accepted equine training and exhibition procedures, would determine to be neither cruel, abusive nor inhumane. All Competitors are required by EC rules to wear proper fitting, approved protection headgear, with the safety harness correctly secured, at all times while mounted on the competition or event grounds. Approved headgear meets the ASTM (American Society for Testing Materials) standards and displays the SEI (Safety Equipment Institute) seal. The British Standard, BSI, is also acceptable. Equine Medication control fees are mandatory for Equestrian Canada competitions and must be included with entry fees on entry form. Gold Fee $7.00 Bronze Fee $3.50 payable Any horse entered in any class at a competition may be selected for equine medication control testing while at the event. (A602.5) 2

4 Horse Identification numbers are required for Gold Division entries. The Horse ID number replaces horse passports. All Gold division horses are required to be registered with a current Equestrian Canada Horse Identification number, or must pay a $45.00 Temporary Horse License fee when checking in at Show Office. Horse Identification registration is available online through the EC online sport license renewal process at Equestrian Canada Please complete this process or contact Equestrian Canada for assistance prior to submitting your entries to transition an existing horse passport to the Horse Identification number; or to obtain a Horse ID number for a new horse that does not have an ID number for Gold division entries. For assistance with Horse ID and or EC sport license renewals contact EC Toll Bronze division horses are not required to have EC Horse Identification numbers. (A602.4) Canadian Cup Dressage Festival General Rules Neither Maple Ridge Equi-Sport Center, any employee, volunteer, or member of the organizing committee will be held responsible in any way for damage, injury, or loss to persons, horses or property of spectators, owners, trainers, riders or grooms. The Canadian Cup Dressage Festival Organizing Committee reserve the right to limit the number of entries, refuse any entry for any reason, or to split, cancel, combine, and or adjust any class or awards presented subject to entries and at their sole discretion. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to govern all conditions of the competition, and to make decisions on matters not specified in the EC Rulebook in consultation with EC stewards. The maximum number of tests per horse per day permitted at this competition is four tests, regardless of the number of competition levels, categories, and or horse / rider combinations entered in the competition. Horse / rider combinations may not enter more than two consecutive levels at the same competition. Competition numbers assigned and provided by show office are required to be worn by the horse or rider/ or handler at all times when outside the stall. Failure to display the number may result in first a warning card and second offense possible disqualification. Please do not use any other type of number on horse other than the number assigned. Foreign Riders must provide photocopies of their National Federation Association membership cards on arrival at competition for verification. All Gold and Bronze Division competitors are required to hold a minimum of a current Equestrian Canada Gold or Bronze Sport License (or proof of purchase), and a current Horse Council BC membership. All Gold Level Riders must be current members of Dressage Canada and listed on EC Membership cards. Dressage Canada Memberships are purchased online prior to entering the competition at Fines may be applied by Equestrian Canada for any Gold member competitor who competes without a valid Dressage Canada affiliate membership at a Gold dressage competition. Please complete all EC & HCBC membership requirements online prior to the closing of entries. Late Entries may be accepted at the discretion of the Organizing Committee for an additional late fee of $ One Entry Form for each horse / rider combination. Parents or guardians of junior exhibitors must sign all forms as person responsible for the junior competitor. Hors Concours entries are not accepted at this competition. entries will be accepted attached to with both the completed entry form and entry agreement, with credit card number and authorization on entry form with signatures required. Declined or incomplete credit card information on entry forms may be charged a $15.00 additional handling fee. 3

Payment is required by either credit card authorization details provided on entry form, by cheque or bank draft payable to M.R.E.C. not later than the Entry Closing date. Competitors may pay by Visa or MasterCard where included on entry forms. Entries without payment will not be accepted. A stall deposit of $30.00 is due on arrival at M.R.E.C. grounds when checking in at the Show Office. Payment by check, cash, or credit card number deposit on entry will be accepted. Entry Secretary will confirm receipt of entries with an confirmation when accepted. Please review entry confirmation carefully to ensure all information is correct as submitted when received. Notify entry secretary of any discrepancies, errors, or omissions when confirmation is received and no entry change will apply. Any entry change request after the confirmation is accepted will incur an entry change fee of $15.00 added to entry for each change. Substitution of Horse entered may be accepted at the discretion of the Organizing Committee when received not later than 12:00 noon, Thursday, July 28, 2017, in the show office. Horse substitution will be accepted where the horse substituted is entered in the same classes as the original entry. Substitution at a different level than the original entry may not be possible to accommodate, however, may be accepted at the discretion of the Organizing Committee where possible. Music for Freestyles must be submitted in the form of a CD on audio formatted compact disk (CD) only, when checking in at show office. Include your name on the CD and on the CD- case. A sound check will be scheduled prior to the Freestyle classes with day and time posted in the competition office. Horses are not required for the sound check. Rider Times Schedule will be posted at and on Fox Village Ride Times & Results Webpage at prior to the competition. Ride times will be ed to all competitors in the competition where address are provided on entry forms. Final Ride times will be included in competitor entry package at the competition and posted on the scoreboard. Splitting or Combining of Rider Categories Junior, Adult Amateur, or Open: If there are fewer than three entries in any category of an Open class, entries will not split into separate categories for class placings. Instead they may be combined into one Open class at the discretion of the Organizing Committee. Classes will be split into rider categories and placed separately for classes where 3 or more entries per category are entered in the class. The class will be placed accordingly for each category when final results are posted on the scoreboard. Competition & Warm-up Rings will be designated for National Gold and Bronze competitions. Competition rings will be available for schooling on warmup day 1pm 8pm on Thursday, July 26 th prior to the competition. The Competition arena(s) will be closed to all horses after 8pm on Thursday July 26 th and remain closed at all times except during competition. Warm-Up arenas will remain open for the duration of the competition hours. 4

6 Stabling and Tack Stalls for the Gold and Bronze competition horses will be located in either the Cupola and or International Barns as required. Cost of stalls is $ for 4 days from 12 noon Thursday, July 26, to 7pm Sunday, July 29 th, Sawdust bedding is provided. Stalls may be occupied after 12 noon Thursday, July 26 th Competitors wishing to arrive early must confirm and have approval directly with show manager by prior to arrival. A fee of $25.00 per day will apply for horses arriving prior to Thursday, July 26 th, Refunds on stall fees after the stalls have been assigned are at the sole discretion of show manager. Haul in Horses All horses not stabled on grounds must pay a daily haul-in grounds fee of $25.00 for each day on grounds including warm up day. Haul-in fees are payable on entry form. Haul in parking is only permitted in designated parking lot on Cross Country Field north side of show grounds. Awards for First place will be presented, with ribbons awarded to sixth place in all classes. Dressage tests must be signed for when picked up at awards desk. Test of Choice (TOC) classes include all EC National and FEI tests except Freestyle tests. TOC Class numbers, Name, Description and test number must be listed on entry form for all test of choice classes. Horse Council BC western dressage tests or WDAA western dressage tests may be used. Please specify on the entry form. Current HCBC rules will govern non EC classes. Para Equestrian Test of Choice classes will include all of the para-equestrian Grades in one open class. Current FEI PE Tests will be used. Indicate on the entry form which Grade and FEI test of choice is requested for Para Equestrian TOC classes. Schooling Horse entries are permitted for the duration of the competition for a fee of $90.00 for the competition. All EC rules and show fees apply with the exception of EC Sport licenses, Dressage Canada membership, Equine medication and levy fees are not applicable. Schooling horse entries must complete all entry forms and be received prior the closing date to avoid the late fees. Schooling horses will be assigned an entry number which must be worn at all times when outside of stall and on competition grounds. Tack Checks are the responsibility of the competitor to present themselves to the Ring Steward for a tack check immediately following their ride. Failure to do so may incur elimination. It is the competitor s responsibility to check in with the Ring Steward at the competition arena gate at least 10 minutes prior to their ride time. Competitors on deck should remain in the competition holding ring under the supervision of ring stewards until their ride time. Competitors arriving late for any ride time may be eliminated at the discretion of the Judge. Test Callers are permitted in all national level classes and must be provided by the competitor. All FEI Tests must be performed by memory in all divisions. Whips to a maximum length of 1.20m (1.0m for ponies) and may be carried in all national Gold or Bronze Division classes. Championship C classes are designated on Saturday and Sunday competition days. The two C classes of each level must be both ridden with the average combined percentage of the Test 2 and Test 3 determining the Championship and Reserve Championship standings for each level and category. Championship categories will be split and awarded where there are 3 or more entries per category in a championship class or division. Where there are less than 3 entries in a championship rider category scores will be included in the Open Championship division. Rider Times schedule will make every effort to accommodate each horse rider combination allowing for suitable warm up time for all tests entered. A minimum of 30 minutes between start of ride times will be 5

7 the minimum time allowed between tests scheduled. When it is not possible to schedule a riders times within the minimum 30 minutes warm up the competitor will be notified and class fee refunded. Competition Office will be open for check in on Thursday, from 12 noon to 7 pm. The Show Office will open each morning 45 minutes prior to the start of the first scheduled ride time each day. Lunging is permitted only in designated lunging arenas One Test only may be entered in all Test of Choice classes. Test of Choice classes are placed on total percentages for all tests ridden in the class. Classes may be scheduled at any time on the day listed in the prize list and in any order. Ride times will be altered only in the case of an error, overlapping times, or to facilitate the running of the show due to unforeseen circumstances. Current Day Sheets will be posted and available in the competition office, and posted on the scoreboard. Categories for each level offered are Junior, Adult Amateur, and Open: Refer to EC Rulebook for eligibility requirements. All entries must if requested provide a current EC sport license card (Back Side) indicating rider status or will be entered in the Open rider category. Date of birth must be included on entry form for all junior competitors Any protest at an EC sanctioned competition other than those covered in division rules must comply with the following provisions: a) a protest is eligible only if made by an officiating judge, owner, lessee, trainer, coach, rider or authorized agent, in the division in which the question arises; b) the protest must be made in writing and addressed to the Show Secretary; c) protest must be signed; and d) must be accompanied by a deposit of $100 in cash. For full details see rule A1206 Vet Out / Refunds and Scratch Entries Refund Policy Cancellations before the Entry closing date, with or without veterinary or medical certificate, will receive all fees refunded less the Administration fee which is non-refundable. Cancellations after the Entry closing date and before the start of competition received by the show secretary with a veterinary or medical certificate in writing will be refunded 50% of Class fees, Equine Medication and Levy fees, and GST on refunded amounts. Administration fee and 50 % of class fees are nonrefundable. Stall fees may be refunded at the discretion of the Show Manager where stalls have not been occupied. Canadian Cup Division Championship Specifications All Division Championships will be determined by combining the total percentage scores awarded in the 2 Championship Classes C of the level for each horse/rider combination. The competitor with the highest average percentage from the two C Classes shall be declared the Champion, and the competitor with the second highest total averaged percentage shall be declared the Reserve Champion. In the event of a tie, the competitor with the highest total percentage in the Test 3 will be declared the Champion. Championships will be awarded in all rider categories where a minimum of 3 or more exhibitors compete in the Championship Classes. Competitors must compete in a minimum of 3 tests during the competition (includes Freestyles) to be eligible for Championship awards. THE MREC CANADIAN CUP will be presented to the Highest Single Score achieved at the in any Competition each year and is a perpetual Trophy to be returned to MREC the following year. 6

If a competition is dual sanctioned with both Bronze and Gold Divisions, a Champion and Reserve Champion will be awarded in both Divisions. Levels and age categories subject to entries: Gold: Bronze Training, First & Second levels Training & First levels The Riders equitation skills will be evaluated and judged by a second judge during the regular Championship Test 2 C Class technical test for each level and division. The class will be judged by two judges with the regulare judge seated at C, and a second Equitation judge seated at H or M who will be evaluating only the rider s equitation during the technical test. A Rising Stars Equitation score sheet for has been developed for the Equitation judge and must be used for this division. Scores from the Rising Stars Equitation scoresheet will be calculated with the top 2 scores in each age category, and or level qualifying those riders for the Ride Off Final which will be run as a dressage seat equitation hack class. The Ride Off Final will be comprised of the top 2 riders from each age category and levels combined to determine the Champions and Reserve Champions. All Scores will be posted. The first and second place riders of the Ride Off Final will be awarded the Rising Stars Equitation Championship and Reserve Championship awards for both Bronze and Gold Divisions. 7

10 Bronze Division Class List The Bronze Division Competition is restricted to Junior and Adult Amateur Competitors only. Exception: Western Dressage Division is Open NON EC sanctioned Division General Rules of the Gold Division apply to Bronze entries as stated in prize list general rules. Equestrian Canada Horse ID numbers are not required. An EC Bronze Sport License is required Awards for first place with ribbons to 6 th placings in all bronze division classes. Training and First Level Junior and Adult Amateur categories must ride the Dressage Seat Equitation Group Classes to be eligible for Bronze Championship awards. Equitation score is combined with the Test 2 C and Test 3 C percentage scores. The combined total percentages of 3 classes will determine Champions and Reserve Champions for Training level and First level Junior and Adult Amateur Bronze Division Championships.
