2 A2 Fellow breeders and friends, Welcome to the Duis Farms Shorthorn Dispersal! Twenty some years ago, I shut the combine off, drove 30 miles to Barry Jordan s Waukaru Sale and bought my first Shorthorn cows. We sold Angus and crossbred steers in the 1980 s and decided the kids would show Shorthorns. Both Julie and Robbie did well (Kate dropped out) and Robbie ended his junior show years showing Waukaru Primabella 807 to three expo wins and Reserve Senior Champion at the 99 Junior Nationals. While the kids were in college, cattle were sold private treaty and on consignment sales. DF Vegas was born in March of 2002 at Duis Farms and I decided to find my own donors. The Lily family, Lora and Golden Polka were bought in Dick Hahn s Sales. Red Hot was a feature lot at Jason Farmer s Sale, Roan Sue at Louisville, and finally B Good Dottie 3R and her dam 12H through Tim Loudon and Ward Bakenhus in All seven females have matured into tremendous cows and proven donors. Robbie came home and Duis Farms had their first production sale in October It was small, but successful and two more followed- each bigger and better. Robbie left for the Star Lake Hereford position in March of 2009 and with Craig Fuller as herdsman we had two more fall production sales. Each year we worked harder and the quality got better. I feel this set of Shorthorns is the best I have had and I hope you will come and evaluate them June 4th. All cows, including recipients, have tested negative for TB, BVD-PI3 and Johne s. Vaccinations were done in early April and the cattle look great. Current breeding information will be provided at sale time.
