3 President s Report May 2014 May 3 rd I went to Littlestown Aerie #2226 to welcome all the State Pool Tournament shooters and kick the tournament off. They had a huge crowd. I then went home and picked Jan up to head to Clarion for Jan s Testimonial. Jan and I had a beautiful ride to Clarion. We checked into our hotel room and then met up with Larry and Genie and headed over to the Aerie for the Festivities. There was a great turnout for Jan s dinner---there were about 120 people there. Jan has had a great year. She will be a bell ringer and she has raised over $30,000 for her charity which is SAFE. As most of you know, the ladies have baten us in membership this year---so they say. Jan thought we didn t see her showing off the Gold spandex that Larry and I will have to wear at the Convention--- behind our backs. When she left the area Larry asked me where they were. I showed Larry where the pants were and he took them. When Larry was up giving his speech, he decided to drop his pants and low and behold he had the spandex on. Since this will be my last Newsletter I would like to say a few things. First, it has been an honor to serve you as your State President this year. I have met so many wonderful people along the way and the hospitality was overwhelming. Thank you all so much for being a part on the best organization in the USA. Good luck to Donnie Moffitt on his year as President and I hope he enjoys his year as much as I have. I would like to give a special thank you to Larry Lutseo for being my Membership Chairman. I could not have had a better man. Larry represents what the Eagles are all about. He is a hard working person that likes to have fun and is willing to help anyone. We have had a lot of memorable moments on our trips including all the detours. Larry and Genie, you will always have a special place in my heart. Finally, one last thought, the times are not what they were 10 or 20 years ago. What worked then does not necessarily work now. We all have to change with the times and we need to start thinking outside the box to keep our organization strong for another 100 years. Please give new ideas a chance to work because it may be the next best thing to sliced bread. Fraternally, Remember: Keep thinking outside the box. Eric Barnes PA State President

4 Membership Chairman s Report May 2014 Larry Lutseo On May 2 nd Genie and I traveled to Clarion for PA State Madam President Jan Shirey s Testimonial Dinner. When we got there, we went to Clarion Aerie #3807 and had a delicious dinner. Early Saturday morning we met PSP Joe Schumacher, Bunnie Pipher, PA State Vice- President Donald Moffitt, Shirley and PSP Tim Livengood for breakfast and a tour of some of the Aeries. We started off visiting Brookville Aerie #983 where Rachel was bartending. Second stop was Punxsutawney Aerie #1231 where they were having a craft show. Off went Bunnie, Shirley and Genie. Sykesville Aerie #4454 was our third stop where Jane Young was bartending. I told her with a last name like that she would never grow old. Last stop was Reynoldsville Aerie #540 where Cindy was bartending. Then it was back to the motel to get ready for Jan s Testimonial. I want to thank PA State President Eric Barnes for asking me to be his Membership Chairman. What an honor---eric and Jan along with Genie and myself have traveled throughout the state of Pennsylvania visiting every Aerie and passing out pens and promoting membership. Remember those pens on May 31 st! Genie and I would like to thank all the District Directors and Aerie and Auxiliary Officers who took time out of their busy schedules to meet us. Thank you for all the great food, hospitality shown us and the many gifts we received. We had a great year and have many great memories. Finally, thanks again to Eric and Jan for your friendship. It s a special bond we will have always and Eric you did an excellent job this past year. It was an honor to be your Membership Director. Jan, try to keep it under 100!!!!!! Hope to see all of you at the Convention and Good Luck to Incoming President Donald Moffitt. Fraternally, Larry Lutseo State Membership Chairman
