The schl uses cmputers as active learning tls t assist the students t interact with their envirnment. This includes the use f vice utput cmmunicatin aides t assist with speaking and ral cmmunicatin as well as cmputer, technlgy and peripheral devices t enable students t access prgrams and learn mre abut their envirnment. Every classrm has an electrnic whitebard. The use f interactive whitebards are an integral part f ur teaching prgram. Fr a number f students acrss the schl, the schl is currently investigating the use f ipads bth as a cmmunicatin tl and means f accessing the curriculum. The schl has a range f sftware t supprt student learning.

All parents are invlved in the develpment, implementatin and review f their child s Individual Educatin Plan (IEP). These plans are reviewed every 6 mnths. Written reprts are prvided twice a year. All students have a daily cmmunicatin bk which prvides daily cmmunicatin between hme and schl. Parents are mst welcme t meet with staff at any time t discuss their child. Parents and members f the wide cmmunity are encuraged t participate in schl activities such as sprts day, special schl assemblies. Vlunteers are particularly needed fr swimming prgrams.

The schl has slar panels installed n the schl gym/hall enabling the cllectin f pwer fr the electricity grid hping t reduce Geebung Special Schl s electricity. Hwever, the schl has a new heated swimming pl which has impacted n ur electricity usage. Measures have been put in place t help reduce the impact f the heated pl n ur usage. Staff are als reminded t turn ff air-cnditining, fans and lights when nt in use. Water tanks cntinued t be used t water gardens. 11 Perfrmance f ur students Descriptin f hw nn-attendance is managed by the schl Nn-attendance is managed in state schls in line with the DET plicies, SMS-PR-029: Managing Student Absences and SMS-PR-036: Rll Marking in State Schls, which utline prcesses fr managing and recrding student attendance and absenteeism. Nn-attendance at Geebung Special Schl is nt an issue fr the schl administratin team. All students attend regularly. Any lng student absences ccur due t illness r pst surgery related events. Absences are fllwed up in a timely manner by the schl administratin team.
