6 Well, there are seminars: Jiu Jitsu Seminar on Saturday Dec. 15th from 11 to 12:30 Protek Seminar with Master Mayes on Saturday Dec 1 from 2 to 3:30 Then there s the Buddy Board break night at PAMA on Thursday, Dec. 6th in all classes. This is your chance to get a friend to train with you AND you both get a month FREE! Don t forget about Parents Night Out! On Friday Dec. 7 from 6:30 to 9:30 at PAMA or Sat. Dec 8 from 6:30 to 9:30 at UMAC. Kids get to have fun, see a movie, eat some pizza and parents get to shop, have dinner, relax, whatever they want to do. WHAT ELSE IS HAPPENING IN DECEMBER? You re going to be busy! How are you doing on your forms? Do you love to break boards? Here s your chance to get a neat trophy for your space doing what you love. The Forms & Board Break Tourney will be on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 11-12:30 at PAMA. But wait there s more. CDB Testing at PAMA on Dec. 3rd from 7-8:30. 7 Page 3 FUN TIMES Don t miss the next Glow Chuck Seminar. They are one of the most fun events we have (besides the Halloween Party it s hard to beat that.) This one was held on November 9 and you can t see it in the photo, but hose are smiling faces holding the glow chucks. Almost as much fun as the Glow Chuck Seminar was the Sparring Seminar. Our newest sparring folks learned even more on November 17 when they were all geared up and beating on one another. Oh, the Places we ve been We didn t get out too much this month since it was so busy with in house events. The Halloween Party kicked it off. Then of course we had the wonderful Grand Opening at UMAC. Close on the heels of that party was the party for the new Black Belts on November 17..If you have any photos from the event, please share them with us.

8 Page 4 Arm yourself with Confidence, Self Defense, Respect, Fitness and FUN! BLACK BELT HAPPENINGS 1 st DEGREE to 2 nd DEGREE Here s what it takes to get that level 2 Belt. REQUIREMENTS TO PROGRESS To test for 2nd Degree Black Belt you need the following 3 Bo stripe test tracked (bo stripe testing is the stripe testing performed every 6 months) 2 years since your 1st Degree Test 12 years old at time of testing Participate in 18 events - see below Perform CDB and 1st Degree Forms EARLY TESTING requirements Bo stripe test 2 times (instead of 3) 1.5 years (instead of 2yrs) since 1st Degree Test 12 years old at time of testing Participate in 18 events - see below Perform CDB and 1st Degree Forms EVENTS * voluntary tournament participation * voluntary belt testing participation * seminars participation * leadership team member - class attended * demo team event performance Belt Meanings White: Seeking Knowledge in martial arts Yellow: Just as a seed needs light to grow, the student needs knowledge to learn and grow. Orange: The sun rises and the sun sets. As with the morning's dawn, only the beauty of the sunrise is seen rather than the immense power. The beginning student sees the beauty of the art of Taekwondo, but has yet to experience the power in the technique. Purple: As the rays from the sun cause the plant to grow it blossoms into beautiful colors, just as the student begins to discover their ability and potential. Green: As the seed grows into a young plant, the student s ability and knowledge of the art begin to develop. Blue: The plant continues to grow and reach for the sky, the student continue to grow and reach for more knowledge. Brown: A solid root has grown into the ground and holds the plant firmly in place. The student has built a solid foundation of basic techniques upon from which to build on and learn new, advanced techniques. Red: As the plant grows closer to the sun it s red-hot heat scorches the plant. Here the student learns that with knowledge comes responsibility. The student has black belt technique but without black belt wisdom, maturity or sensitivity. Black: Master of the Basics
