3 1. CATEGORIES All categories are open as far as bike/wheel size. Categories depend on age. The age class a rider is eligible to ride is determined by his age, which shall be calculated by deducting the year of birth from the current year. Participation in races is organised on the basis of the age categories set out below: CATEGORY AGE COURSE Cadets years old Black Minimes years old Green Benjamins years old Blue Poussins 9-10 years old White Girls years old Pink Youth Girls 9-11 years old White 2. REGISTRATIONS AND CONFIRMATION OF RIDERS Each National Federation shall sign up their selected riders filling up the official UCI entry form, available here. Registration fees are not charged for the UCI Trials World Youth Games. Pre-registration for the UCI Trials World Youth Games is subject to the following restrictions: In total, each national federation shall be permitted to register up to 5 riders in each category. The host federation may register a greater number of riders, with a maximum of 6 riders in each category. The opening/closing dates are indicated hereafter REGISTRATION DATES VENUE OPENING AT 12:00 CET REGISTRATION DEADLINE AT 12:00 CET ENTRIES LIST PUBLICATION Lazzate (ITA) All riders or their team managers must attend the riders confirmation presenting their licenses and picking up their race numbers. The riders confirmation deadlines are indicated on the official programme available on page TRIALS YOUTH NATIONAL TEAMS PARTICIPATION The rider s participation for the trials youth national teams competition must be done by the team manager at the rider s confirmation. The maximum number of riders in a trials national teams competition is 6, one per category: 1 Poussin (9-10) 1 Benjamin (11-12) 1 Minime (13-14) 1 Cadet (15-16) 1 Youth Girl (9-11) 1 Girl (12-15) The minimum number of riders in a trials national teams competition is 4. They must belong to different categories. 3. TEAM MANAGER As per article , each member organization which registers riders must appoint a national team manager to represent the interests of all of its riders at the UCI Trials World Youth Games. 4 4. TEAM MANAGER AND COACH MEETING We strongly recommend the participation at the Team manager and coach meeting scheduled on Friday 3rd from 12h00 to 13h00. All relevant information and the development and procedure of the Trials Youth National teams competition will be explained. The meeting will be held at following place: Scuola Media "Matteo Ricci" Via Franco Laratta, Lazzate, Italy 5. NATIONAL JERSEY As per article , riders taking part in the UCI Trials World Youth Games represent their country, the wearing of the national federation outfit is strongly recommended, although not mandatory. 6. ON FOOT INSPECTION Riders have the right to do the on foot sections inspection on a specific period of time; these periods are indicated on the 2018 UCI Trials World Youth Games schedule published on the UCI website. 7. COMPETITION FORMAT 7.1. INDIVIDUAL RACES The UCI Trials World Youth games shall include a ½ finals and a final. If the category has more than 16 riders, the best 12 riders in the ½ finals will be eligible to compete in the final. If the category has between 11 and 16 riders, the best 8 riders in the ½ finals will be eligible to compete in the final. If the category has less than 11 riders there will be no ½ finals ½ FINALS The ½ finals shall consist of 5 sections and 2 laps. The competition time will be set by the commissaires panel FINAL The penalty points obtained in the ½ finals do not count in the final. Each finalist starts with zero penalty points. 5 7.2. COMPETITION FORMAT AT THE TRIALS YOUTH NATIONAL TEAMS STARTING PROCEDURE The cadets total UCI points of each national team will determine the start order in the trials youth national teams competition. The national teams without UCI points will start first. The start order will be determined at random. The national team with the lowest total UCI points will start after the national teams without UCI points. The start order of the riders in each national team is determined by each team manager. The first riders to start the competition belong to the national teams without UCI points. The remaining riders are from the national teams with UCI points and so on. The same procedure applies for the remaining riders. Riders ride the sections one by one and only once RIDING SYSTEM The penalty points will apply as per art to A rider starts the section with zero penalty points and zero points. A rider can choose the level (gates) he/she wants to ride in each part of the section or skip some of them. The level gates chosen in each part can only be passed once. If the rider finishes the first part of the section with zero penalty points, his/her score will be the points corresponding to the level (gate) chosen. The same procedure must be followed with the other parts in the section. A part in a section starts when the front wheel s axle passes the cross-wise tape on the ground. Once the rider starts the second and following parts of the section, he/she can go back to the previous part. In the case that the rider commits a penalty point on the part that he/she has already finished, the penalty point will count as a penalty point for the part which is about to start. The rider can only make five dabs in the whole section. If a rider has got five penalty points before finishing the whole section, he/she has to leave the section, but he/she keeps the score from the completed parts. Example: A rider finishes the first two parts with zero penalty points on the blue level. This means that the rider scores 40 points. Then, on the third part the rider makes one penalty point, which means that he/she won t score points in this part and he can only commit four more penalty points on the other two parts. If on the other parts the rider finishes with zero penalty points on the red level, this means that he/she scores 60 points. So, this rider finishes the section with 100 points RESULTS The points scored by each rider count as points for his/her trials national team s overall score. The winner is the trials national team with the highest score. In case of tie, the trials national team that scored points riding on the highest level (gate) will break the tie. 7 9. RECOGNITION AND AWARDS 9.1. INDIVIDUAL COMPETITIONS The UCI shall bestow upon the first place finisher in each competing category the title of «UCI trials world youth games winner». This title shall remain the property of the UCI and may not be used in conjunction with any product endorsement or for any other commercial purpose without UCI s prior express consent. The UCI will award the first three positions in each category with world youth games medals. Official ceremony The official ceremony shall take place immediately after the race. The first three riders in each category must attend the official ceremony. Bicycles cannot be taken onto the podium YOUTH NATIONAL TEAM COMPETITION At the world youth games as per article the UCI shall bestow upon the first place the title of «UCI trials youth national team winner». The UCI will award the first three teams ranked. These titles shall remain the property of the UCI and may not be used in conjunction with any product endorsement or for any other commercial purpose without UCI s prior express consent. Official ceremony The official ceremony takes place at the town centre at Piazza Giovani XXIII after the opening gala (see map in appendix). All members of the first three national teams must attend the official ceremony. Bicycles cannot be taken onto the podium. 10.
