2 RDU Airport Owns the property that is Lake Crabtree County park, 286 and Rocky Road trails (Parcels 1-4) Generate $120 million in revenue Parking is a $48 million business for RDU Parking fees changed in 2016 to increase revenue by $15 million The airport should serve the community, not the other way around. We the PEOPLE are the owners of the RDU Airport.

3 Lake Crabtree County Park First county park established within Wake County in 1985 (33 acres) and the biking trails were established in year history for the biking trails The trails attract approximately 100,000 of the park s 300,000 annual visitors. Historical site: remains of a 19th-century tenant farm. You can see the ruins of a tenant house, a stone-lined well and a tobacco ordering pit. 5 mile hiking trail (Lake Trail) 9 miles of multi-use trails (natural surface trails)

4 Lake Crabtree County Park RDU owns the land, but it would be a net loss to the region to take a unique feature that has a trackable record of attracting visitors, and turning it into a business park that only benefits a few. Possibly a financial gain for RDU authority, but absolutely a net loss for the greater Triangle community We the PEOPLE are the owners of the RDU Airport. 6 What does it look like if we lose all the trails? Lost revenue for the local bike shops Fewer people to frequent the local restaurants (Neomonde, Rally Point, Firewurst, Thai Café, McDonalds, Chickfil-A, Wendys, etc.) Environmental impact- water runoff, noise pollution from rock quarry, decrease in property values, animal habitats destroyed Greater congestion and traffic on Aviation Parkway Fewer people exercising and getting healthy Post-ride meal at Rally Point, Cary, NC

7 What does it look like if we lose these trails? No distinction in living in the Triangle People will no longer admire and comment on how green the cities are when flying into RDU Loss of appeal in recruiting employees for the area User conflicts in Umstead Creation of illegal trails by ignoring the demand for singletrack trails

Sign the petition Submit opposition to the RDU s land use plan Request Wake County to purchase the land to preserve open greenspace Write your representatives and ask them to prevent the destruction of Crabtree and the 286 and Rocky Road trails: Spread the word at your company, at the grocery store, at the library, at the gym, everywhere!
