There were 18 Model A s which I believe may be an all-time record. We carried some of the athletes that were in Edmond for a world volleyball tournament. It did sprinkle rain on us during the parade but while we were at Charleston s having lunch, it got serious about raining. It was a real steady rain all the way home. It was a fun day and, of course, much cooler than most 4th parades. The Board is currently making great plans for the Fall Foliage Tour that we are hosting in Lawton and the surrounding area. It will be on October There will be goody bags, tours, great food, pretty scenery, great food, and camaraderie with the Tulsa club (oh did I mention great food). It will be loads of fun so be sure it is on your calendar to join us on Thursday or come later if you need to. Plan to drive your Model A since it is quite close to Oklahoma City. I have again decided to run for MAFCA Director this year. I know I said I probably wouldn t but it seems like the thing for me to do. You will be receiving your ballots to vote for five new directors and also make some changes in the MAFCA By-Laws in August. Be sure to vote and get your ballots back to MAFCA by October 15. 5 VOLUME 43, ISSUE 7 Page 5 Meet Your Fellow Members!! The Jensen Family Rick and Lesa Rick and Lesa Jensen joined the Sooner Model A Club in 2008, after moving to Oklahoma City from Jenks. They had been members of the Tulsa Model A Club while working on a 1928 Tudor, which has since been sold. Rick was originally from Lawton, OK graduating from Lawton High School and receiving votech training in paint and body and welding. He worked at Ft. Sill and owned a body shop in Lawton. He moved to Oklahoma City and worked for several sign companies as a painter, finally settling at Metro Signs. He has a daughter, Sarah Jensen, age 21, who is a senior at Oklahoma City University. She has competed in the Miss Oklahoma Pageant three times so far as Miss Lawton, Miss Oklahoma City and Miss Grand Lake. Lesa graduated from Mannford High School and then moved to Sapulpa. She married and was later widowed there. Lesa graduated from UCT with a B.S. in Elementary Education after taking her first college class at the age of 30. She has two children, Billy, a firefighter in Sapulpa, and a daughter, Melissa, who works at a dental office in Glenpool. There are four grandchildren Rick and Lesa get to be Nana Booboo and Peepaw to; Luke, Lauren, Garrett, and Zack. Rick and Lesa met in June Lesa was living in Jenks and teaching at Jenks. In, Rick quit his job and moved to Tulsa. The two quickly decided they had a relationship worth pursuing. Both enjoyed cars, motorcycles, the outdoors, road trips, and spending time with the family. Lesa likes to fish and bowl. Rick is a NASCAR fanatic (according to Lesa). When they met Lesa was in an all ladies Corvette club called Lace and Rick was into his Harley, complete with the biker pony tail and beard. After marrying in December 2006, and finally admitting they were no linger spring chickens and needed to slow down, they traded the vette and Harley for something slower, a Model A Ford. In the spring of 2008, they found it necessary for Rick to go back to his old job at Metro Signs in Oklahoma City, so they moved there, where Lesa acquired a teaching position with Putnam City Schools. They found a sweet little 1930 Coupe, which Rick named Bonnie. There are two huge dogs named Gracie and Jake that rule the Jensen household. Rick and Lesa now keep the turnpikes hot between Lawton and Tulsa when not participating in the Model A Club activities. They treasure the great friends and relationships that have developed with people in both the Tulsa and Sooner Model A Clubs.

General Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the months of January thru November. Meetings commence at 7:00 p.m. and are held at Will Rogers Garden Center at 3400 N.W. 36th in Okla. City. Membership dues are $20.00 per year. Membership in the Model A Ford Club of America is encouraged. Ownership of a Model A Ford is not required. All members are welcome to attend the club s Board Meetings, which are held on the first Tuesday of each month at a location designated by the President and advertised in the Scuttlebutt.
