This time it was a picnic ride to Red Rock Canyon in Hinton, Oklahoma. In the photo are Kay and Smitty Smith, Tom and Carla Arnold and Pam and Steve Pollard. On Saturday September 16th we will be heading to the Tom Stafford Air Museum in Weatherford, OK. First we will stop for lunch at an historic restaurant: Lucille s Roadhouse. Yes, we MUST eat first!! 2 CHAPTER DIRECTOR OK-B SHAWNEE, OK CAROL HAYNES Many of us are going down to Grapevine, TX over the Labor Day weekend to join with our fellow wingers at WING DING. But, what is Labor Day and why do we celebrate this summer-ending holiday. Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contribution workers have made to the strength, prosperity and well-being of our great nation. The first Labor Day was celebrated on Tuesday September 5, 1882 in New York City in accordance with the pleas of the Central Labor Union. The form of the observance was to be a street parade to exhibit to the public the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and labor organizations of the community, followed by a festival for the RECREATION and AMUSEMENT of the workers and their families. So since we are ALL workers, the Labor Day weekend is the perfect time for WING DING!!! There will be street parades, esprit de corps of the Goldwing owners, followed by a festival for the recreation and amusement of all. Have a great time at WING DING!! Has wood bumper which has been refinished. Cooler holder on the front. Enough space for a couple of suitcases and all the rest of the equipment you need on a trip.
