With Wing Ding in Tulsa the first part of the month and our own Brad and Connie Garner competing for International Couple of the Year, the month starts off with a bang. At the end of the month is the Michigan District Rally in West Branch. Our Chapter is responsible for the door prizes this year at the Rally, so plan to attend. I know that there are several couples that are leaving for Tulsa at varying times the next couple of weeks and I wish them all a safe trip and especially to Brad and Connie a great big GOOD LUCK from Chapter W. In the middle of the two big events going on in July is many rides that are sure to be fun and not good for the waste line. I know that my bike has a bad habit of pulling into at least one ice cream place on any given ride. I wish that I could disable the control module that does that. With riding season now in full swing, please be careful and watch out for the other guy. They do not always look out for you. I have heard of too many accidents and near misses already this year. We do not need to have any of our own involved in an accident. Having just returned from a rather long trip of my own, I can attest to not all drivers are aware of motorcycles being on the road. We had a very good trip and only had a couple of times that we did not know if we were seen, but they reminded us that we needed to be extra careful. We traveled between 4500 and 5000 miles and seen everything from riders wearing full riding gear to some that were wearing only enough to not be pulled over for indecent exposure. I do not understand why someone would feel safe on a motorcycle without wearing safety gear. Have a safe riding month and see you all on some event this month. Pre registration is due by July 1 st, shirt orders also! Vicki and I are planning to camp and would love to have your company for the weekend. I haven t seen a schedule of events yet but I know Chapter W has the door prizes again. We have a good time and a lot of fun. I will try to get with the program on the dress for the day this year. I m sure that the seminars and classes will be as great as usual. The venders are also feeling the slow economy and without your support, many will not come back. We all feel the pinch, but we need to at least talk to them and let them know we need them. We will be going up on Thursday afternoon so if anyone wishes to ride with us, let us know. On Tuesday, June 23 rd, Chapter H2 will be installing new Chapter Educators, Ron and Judy McKelvey. Randy and Lori Westcott will be doing the installation. It would be nice to show our support, so if anyone wants to go, call Vicki or our answering machine. I ll call you back when I can. Chapter H2 s monthly gatherings are now at Leo s Coney Island 9845 Telegraph Road Taylor, MI They eat at 6:00p.m. With the gathering starting at 7:00p.m. The Region D Circus Carnival [Rally} is at the Mercer County Fairgrounds, Celina, Ohio on September 17t h to the 19 th. We are also planning to camp on the fairgrounds and would like to invite you all to do the same. We have till August 15 th to preregister. The posters and registration forms for both rallies are on the web. Our next task that Vicki and I will be looking at is the toy run. This is our 25 th year and our goal is to have any past officers, brag books, T-shirts, or anything all of you can come up with from the past at Dexter s fore the day. The following is from an from Bill Bower - Chapter A2 Educator Hello Everybody, We have had 3 bikes go down recently and I got to thinking. I bet most people do not carry their medical information written down as to what medications they are taking or their current health conditions. Level II Safety by Education You are in luck fore I have an easy solution. Type this web address down exactly like I have typed it, in order to get to the right web page. (medids.com) On the left side click on Free ID Wallet Card. Scroll down, fill in your information, print it out, laminate it if possible and then carry it in your wallet or billfold right next to your drivers license. First responders will check for your ID and they should also find your new Medic ID Card. Peggy and I have been doing this for years. HAVE FUN - RIDE SAFE. Bill Bower Chapter A2 Educator Level III Safety by Preparedness Level IV Safety by Enhanced Commitment and Preparedness This is what the card will look like when you print it from your computer, with all your own medical information. When you fold it in half it will be wallet size and fit right behind your drivers license. It is a good idea for a couple to carry a copy of each others card along with their own. The website will let you preview your information before printing and then you can print out multiple copies of the same card. It was suggested that you could put one in your helmet or on your bike as well as in your other vehicles. There is now a link to MedID.com on the Chapter W website so all you have to do is click and it will take you right to the online form to print your cards. Remember if you have a change in your medical condition or your medications you need to print yourself a new card so your information will be up to date and accurate. Fred & Randa Page 3
