The Club has reserved a time slot of 12:00 to 4:00 so that travel time to and from the Gardens is provided to those wishing to return to Flagstaff that evening. This is a great opportunity to see these spectacular glass sculptures. Please contact Sallie Page at to reserve your tickets. Sally needs the entrance fees no later than April 4!!! 4 ROUTE 66 COURIER PAGE 4 GARAGE TALES. This month the /2 Mustang of Jim and Alana Velez is featured. In Alana s words : In the year 1964 my mother, Eleanor Weiss, bought this car brand new from Ralph Williams Ford in Encino, California. Jim and I had our 2nd date in this car when it was brand new and was one of only two times the top had ever been down. Today, the top has not been up since we restored the car. The car never left the San Fernando Valley from 1964 to My husband maintained the car for her all these years. In the year 2000, Eleanor passed away and we had the choice of a 5 carrot diamond or the Mustang as our inheritance. I took the Mustang, my sister took the ring. In 2001, my husband and son restored the car in what you see today. The car did not have any rust and had never been in an accident and been in the garage most of its life. Today the Mustang now has its own heated garage. My daughter-inlaw always wanted a red convertible Mustang, so thats what you see today. Various modifications and upgrades to the Mustang include the replacement of the original straight six engine with a Ford crate 302 CI V-8 which has a Comp Cam camshaft, Edelbrock intake, Edelbrock 600 CFM Carburetor, Mallory Distributor with Peridonics Ignitor and Coil. The engine exhausts through Patriot Ceramic Coated Tri-y headers and Dynomax mufflers. (Con t)

5 ROUTE 66 COURIER PAGE 5 As for the chassis, Randall Rack and Pinion Steering, Global West upper and lower control a-arms w/1 lower coil springs, and front 1 and rear 3/4 Grab-A- Track Sway bars have been added. A Ford Posi rear end with Grab-A-Track 1 lowered leaf springs, and KYB shocks round out the suspension. Grab-A-Track chrome Monte Carlo and export braces have also been added. With the interior, Dakota Digital Gauges and a Grant steering wheel have been added to the stock dashboard. Stock seats with TMI padding have been installed, and for those road cruises a 12 disk Pioneer stereo system has been added. Overall, this makes for one sweet machine. 8 PAGE 8 And doing what club members love to do..eat! This month we cruised over to the Cracker Barrel for a Sunday morning breakfast. Eighteen hungry members had a scrumptious breakfast with flap jacks, cackle berries and sow bellies, not to mention all the extra hot rolls and grits CB served. Yummy!
