4 H.D.A.o.T On behalf of The Highland Dancing Association of Taranaki (HDAOT) a warm welcome to the City of New Plymouth Open Championships and Supporting Events for Thank you all for braving the recent cold snap and joining us for the weekend. I look forward to watching some amazing dancing over the course of the day. I m pleased to also welcome our three judges; Judith Monteith from Sydney, Kim Roe from Tasmania and Christine Panapa from Auckland. Thank you for travelling to be with us this weekend, I hope you enjoy the dancing you see today and your time in New Plymouth. I would like to take a moment to thank those who have worked so hard to make today happen. Countless hours are volunteered and thousands of dollars raised, donated and granted to make an event such as today s run smoothly. If you would like be part of organising future competitions (we do have fun as well!) please don t hesitate to come and have a chat! I hope you all thoroughly enjoy the day s events. 25 HIGHLAND CHOREOGRAPHY WORKSHOP SUNDAY 15 JULY MASTERCLASS DANCE STUDIOS 50 Gill Street, New Plymouth Intermediate and Premier 9.00am 10.30am Novice and Beginner 10.45am 11.45pm All dancers who attend the choreography workshop will learn/receive: - A dance choreographed by Kim - Tips and help on how to choreograph plus the chance to choreograph a segment - A copy of the music used in the class - Will be able to reuse the dance or steps learnt at their class for any occasion (as long as Kim Roe is recognised as choreographer).!!! It s not too late to enrol !!! $20 per dancer, per class $5 for spectators (SOBHD members or associate members only) NB: Beginner/Novice dancers should know all 6 competition dances competently Kim ROE, NDAA; BATD; BAL; Adj.SOBHD; B.Ed; M.Ed(subjs) - dancer, teacher, adjudicator and administrator. Kim is the Principal of Tasmania s largest and one of Australia s most successful highland dance schools. Kim combines her formal training in education with a love of, and commitment to, dance to provide classes in highland, national, classical, jazz and contemporary dance through her studio in her home town of Launceston. Her initial training as a teacher of physical education enables Kim to provide a fully rounded tuition in dance, with a significant emphasis on physiology and anatomy, stretching and warm-up/warm-down and injury management. Kim s expertise is not limited to traditional SOBHD technique. Her skills as a choreographer in adapting and improvising highland technique to deliver entertaining theatrical and stage items of the highest quality are well-known
