3 NATIONAL र ष ट With a view to resolve the stress and revive such assets, the Government has decided to set up a High-Level Empowered Committee headed by Cabinet Secretary, Pradeep Kumar Sinha with representatives from the Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Power, Ministry of Coal and the lenders having major exposure to the power sector.

4 NATIONAL र ष ट The Committee would look into the various issues with a view to resolve them and maximise the efficiency of investment including changes required to be made in the fuel allocation policy, regulatory framework, changes required in the provisioning norms/insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), Asset Restructuring Company (ARC) Regulations and any other measures proposed for revival of stressed assets so as to avoid such investments becoming NPA.

6 NATIONAL र ष ट The two-day Unified Commanders Conference (UCC) for the year 2018 started at New Delhi. The Annual Conference provides a platform for discussions at the Apex Level on all Joint Issues amongst the three Services & Ministry of Defence and enables stock-taking of the previous year and planning the way ahead for the next year. During the conference, under the chairmanship of the Chief of Integrated Staff (CISC), a large number of Tri-Services issues would be deliberated thoroughly to arrive at a solution to challenges faced and to evolve plans for the future.

8 NATIONAL र ष ट Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Radha Mohan Singh launched the Meghalaya Milk Mission in Shillong. The mission will facilitate in achieving the Centre s goal of doubling farmer s income by 2022 through the promotion of milk business in the state. The amount sanctioned for the project is of Rs 215 crores through National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC). The amount will be utilised for various training under dairy farm, chilling centre and purchase of milch animal. The Milk Mission will enable the state to substitute the import of milk with the state s own production.

12 INTERNATIONAL अ तरर ष ट The first Nepal-India Think Tank Summit will begin in Kathmandu tomorrow to foster greater collaboration and knowledge-sharing among the think tanks of the two countries. The summit is being jointly organized by the Asian Institute of Diplomacy and International Affairs and Nehru Memorial Museum Library. Former Prime Minister of Nepal and Co-chairman of ruling Communist Party of Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda is scheduled to inaugurate the summit. The main objective of the summit is to strengthen bilateral relations between India and Nepal through multi-faceted collaboration among think-tanks in both the countries.

13 THINK TANK SUMMIT The summit will have four sessions with different themes. The first session will deal with Building innovative cooperation between Indo-Nepal think tanks, while second session will deal with Bolstering bilateral economic ties for the shared prosperity. The third session will focus on Managing security dilemma, whereas fourth session will be on Redefining Nepal-India relations in 21st century. Think tanks, policy makers, diplomats, academicians, businesspersons, journalists and government officials from both the countries will participate in the summit.

15 DEFENCE र Two types of indigenously built highpower multi-fuel engines V-46-6 and V92S2 were handed over to Indian Army for first time under Make in India. These engines were manufactured by Engine Factory Avadi (EFA), a unit of Ordnance Factory Board (OFB).

16 KEY FACTS These engines are based on Russian design. V92S2 is high power diesel engine with 1000 HP capacity and it is fitted in T-90 Battle Tank (Bhisma Tank). V46-6 is also high power diesel engines with 780 HP and it is fitted in T-72 Main Battle Tank (Ajeya Tank). They are manufactured with 100% Made in India parts.

18 DEFENCE र India is in talks with United States to procure National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System- II (NASAMS-II), an advanced air defence system at $1 billion to defend National Capital Region (NCR) from aerial attacks. The proposal is in Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) stage now which was approved by Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) chaired by Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

20 NASAMS-II NASAMS-II is an upgraded version of the NASAMS developed by Raytheon in partnership with KONGSBERG Defence and Aerospace of Norway. It has been operational since It features new 3D mobile surveillance radars and 12 missile launchers for quicker reaction. NASAMS-II is highly adaptable mid-range solution for any operational air defence requirement. NASAMS-II is armed with 3D Sentinel radars, short and medium-range missiles, launchers, fire-distribution centers and command-and-control units to quickly detect, track and shoot down multiple airborne threats. It is part of the air defence network guarding US capital city Washington DC. It is also deployed in several NATO countries.

22 AGREEMENT समझ त Rajasthan Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a private trust Sohanlalji Buladeviji Ojha Gaushala Samiti to build its first 'Cow Sanctuary', a shelter for cows. The cow sanctuary will be spread over an area of more than 220 hectares in Bikaner district.

23 RAJASTHAN S COW SANCTUARY This will be the first cow sanctuary in Rajasthan and will be situated in Bikaner s Napasar. The objective behind this initiative is to dedicate the entire area for cows, much on the lines of a wildlife sanctuary. Facilities in the sanctuary will include hospitals and Sewan grass as fodder for the animals. The Sewan grass is considered to be among the best quality fodder for cows. Animals rescued from cattle smugglers will find shelter in this cow sanctuary

26 AGREEMENT समझ त Invest India and the UAE Minister for Artificial Intelligence (AI) signed an MoU for India - UAE Artificial Intelligence Bridge in New Delhi. This partnership will generate an estimated USD 20 billion in economic benefits during the next decade for both countries. The MoU was signed in the presence of Minister of Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, Suresh Prabhu and H.E. Ahmad Sultan Al Falahi, Minister Plenipotentiary Commercial Attache, UAE Embassy at the India leg of GovHack series of World Government Summit.

(GCMMF), the marketers of the popular Amul brand of milk and dairy products, was awarded the Marketer of the Year award by the International Advertising Association of India (IAAI). Amul, the brand worth Rs 41,000 crore, is marketed by the GCMMF, the biggest cooperative owned by 36 lakh farmers of Gujarat. Amul, the most preferred brand in milk and dairy products, is not only known for its cooperative structure and farmer s faith, but is also known for its marketing and advertizing strategies.

Pradip Chowdhury is a former Mohun Bagan captain. He is the 18th recipient of Mohun Bagan Ratna award. This award was first given to Sailen Manna in 2001.

37 SPORTS ख ल Ace Indian shuttler Sourabh Verma lifted the Russian Open Badminton trophy at Vladivostok. In the title clash, he defeated Japan s Koki Watanabe and won his first title of the season. Sourabh had won the Chinese Taipei Masters in 2016, and finished runners-up at Bitburger Open the same year. In Mixed Doubles, the pair of Rohan Kapoor and Kuhoo Garg, lost in the Final against the Russian- Korean team of Vladimir Ivanov and Min Kyung Kim to settle for a runners-up finish.

44 MISCELLANEOUS अन सम च र A city college student, Prabhat Koli (19), who crossed the English Channel when he was 16, has become the first Asian to swim the choppy water from Jersey (an Island in the UK) to France in cold weather. The long-distance sea swimmer covered 25km in 6 hours and 54 minutes. He started off from La Coupe Point of Jersey, behind St Catherine s backwater and touched the shore of St Germain Plage on the Normandy coast of France.
