To achieve this, our cadets are required to uphold rigorous academic and athletic standards while also displaying the necessary leadership qualities of discipline, integrity, and honor; qualities that depict the pillars of the United States Air Force Academy. To say our cadet-athletes are exceptional is an understatement. The Air Force Athletics staff embraces the mission of ensuring our cadets, coaches, and support groups are positioned to succeed in today s ever-changing, resource driven Division I climate. Recently, the Falcon Pride Club has adopted the phrase Be a Champion for In these words, you ll also discover our commitment to you, our loyal fans, and especially our Falcon Pride Club members. As we embark on another year together, the future for our cadet-athletes will continue to rely on support from you, our loyal fans and supporters. It is your generous support that directly allows our 1,000 amazing cadet-athletes to pursue championships in their respective sports, and compete at the highest levels of competition while ultimately serving and protecting the long blue line. We invite you to help us achieve our goal of raising $2M in annual fund contributions. Thank you for dedicating yourself to the spirit of Falcon Athletics and constantly reminding us that truly, We Fly Together! 4 ANNUAL REPORT 2015 Air Force Academy Athletic Corporation Annual Report In an era of increasing demands placed against tighter resources, Air Force and Academy leadership recognized that maintaining 27 Division I athletic programs required a new model. Through an agreement with the Academy, the AFAAC receives government grant funding to perform five athletics-related objectives: recruiting, coaching services, logistics, ticketing, and sports conference administration. This grant, however, does not fully fund these objectives. In 2016, these functions will cost over $12 million while the government grant provides $8.2 million. Furthermore, in an industry (Division I college athletics) that experiences expense growth rates eclipsing 10% annually, future government support will not keep pace as the Academy s athletic programs must compete against Air Force training and warfighting requirements for increasingly scarce taxpayer funding. Our cadet-athletes rely on you and the Falcon Nation Air Force athletics patrons, alumni, and supporters world-wide to fill the shortfall so our programs maintain a competitive edge AFAAC COMMITMENT: $12.4M 2016 Shortfall: $4.2M (filled by ticket sales, merchandise sales, concessions, corporate partnerships, events, and private donations) 2016 Grant Funding: $8.2M Why do we need our fans to donate, buy tickets, and purchase merchandise? 48% The AFAAC is responsible for nearly half of Air Force Athletics expenses. $1M Private annual fund donations to the Falcon Pride Club eclipsed $1 million for the first time in When the AFAAC experiences a shortfall of commitment, Air Force Athletics must pull resources from other areas to fill the gap. 4 JOIN TODAY!
