5 PRESIDENTS REPORT Welcome to IHC October 2018 General Meeting. Summarising the salient events for the month and outcomes of the previous committee meeting: Membership Fees We have received approximately 75% of the membership fees so far, noting they were due by 30 th September. If you haven t paid yet please take this as reminder to those who have not yet paid to action this item. The membership fees account for most of our income it is important they are paid prior to deadline which was at the end of last month. Upcoming Events Some members have inquired as to the whether the Ignition South West Car and Bike Show to be held on the 28 th October is an event supported by the IHC. While the IHC is not organising a display any member from the club is welcome to attend on their machine. Noting Bert s Mystery Ride is on the same day. Leith and Bert have been busy setting the next year (2019) calendar of the events which will be available soon. Bridgetown Show: 24th November I have contacted the Secretary for the show and she was very happy to receive our offer, she advised that their committee meeting will be held tomorrow, and she will get back to me of their interest. I did request that we are located on the oval not on the hill, we will see what happens. We will be looking for someone to organise this ride, can we have a volunteer. The committee also decided to review the calendar of events at each meeting for the next 3 months ahead to ensure we have a nominated person to organise the event. Two Day Rally Wish to thank Steve Armstrong and Andrew Repton for volunteering to join the Two-Day Rally organising committee. Collie Motoplex Great to see several our members went to the Collie Motoplex a couple of weeks ago to assist in bolting together tyres for the track. A big thank you to those members that made the trip up to Collie to assist. I will leave Dave to talk about last Sundays ride, it was a great day. However I would like to extend on behalf of the club a big thank you to Muriel Melvin and her family for her support to the IHC over the past 6 years to host Roys Hamburger Run Muriel has advised us that last Sundays ride would be her last in the current format and has volunteered to host a new event in the 2019 calendar year possibly the Spring Rally. The committee is continuing to look for ideas for the annual presentation event and in keeping with some current ideas we agreed that it would be good idea to prevent the winners of trophies where possible at the club general meetings. Tonight, we are pleased to present the trophy to the winner of the Spring Rally, could I ask John Churchill to step forward and receive the winner s trophy. Good to see the AMC marque take out the award. 5
6 CAPTAINS REPORT 9/18 PM Ride to Waroona Dam Mid-week Run 16 bikes, 17 people went to Waroona Dam to see the dam overflowing, plus a nice place to visit. It was good to see Leith & John waiting for us with hot soup, cake, tea & coffee. John was kept busy keeping the Kookaburras & Magpies away from the food. Yes, just like clockwork Jenny turns up as we are heading out. The ride out went smooth but got a little drizzle at Waroona and on the way home, just enough to cover the road and make rainbows. Glen Britza was given 2 more chocolate bars to add to his collection maybe we should have a morning tea at Glen s house to help him out. But always good to get out. Another good afternoon spent. Collie Track Day Help Out A little cool but nice the road was wet, but we missed the rain. We went there to bolt tyres together for the extended track, we got a few done, had lunch and afternoon tea then rode home via Pile Road. We had a talk with the boss man and told us we could have half hour on the weekend, I asked about week days he said not a problem could have the track all day, see what happens. Always a good day out at the track. Wheatbelt Run 2018 Started from Eaton and went to Williams to catch up with the Mandurah Mob. JC never fails he went to Arthur River missed Williams and the turn off to Narrogin. He did catch up at Lake Grace. Got to get John to do the route sheets as he goes everywhere. Harrismith pub for a stop and watched the Eagles close win? Sunday Kulin and went to the museum to see the old tractors. Next stop Corrigin to pick up a bike that was sick. thanks Tammy 1st to try out the new trailer. Next stop was the dog cemetery, then Yealering where JC was the pied piper missed the turn and nearly made it to Brookton. At Yealering had a look at Steve's collection nice man cave stuff. A look at the lake and a stop at the Pub. Cuballing Pub for the night. Some people went to Narrogin for the night. Monday went to Pumfrey's Bridge for a look and stretch your legs, next stop Boddington from there the Mandurah Mob went to Dwellingup, and we went to Waroona and home via the Southwest Hwy. Another top weekend away. AM Mid-week Run A ride to Preston Beach via the back roads and tried out a new road with 3 Km of gravel not bad hopefully will get done this summer. Made it to the beach had a look at the ocean. Then rode to the Crooked Carrot it was packed so we left. School holidays but another nice ride for a Wednesday. 6
7 The Distinguished Gentleman s Ride 30/9/18 9 of our members turned up for the ride on the most perfect day that you could wish for. All up there was well over 70 riders who took part in the Busselton ride to prevent and highlight prostate cancer and men s mental health. Worldwide there was 108,907 registered to take part. So far worldwide there has been $5,500,000.00US raised. After the pre-start gathering we set of down Queens St and at the last roundabout headed back up Queen St R at Marine Tec, L into Geographe Bay Rd then down Guerin St then out on to Layman Rd, left at Tuart Dr, left at Ludlow N Rd stopping for regroup and photo shoot. Then on to Capel via Stirling Rd where the ride ended. We all made our own way home from there. A good and worthwhile ride. Peter W Busso Mid-week Ride Report 3/10/18 14 members and one visitor turned up for the ride, the weather was quite nice in Busso but as we were to find out after going up the hill it got a bit chilly, never the less there was no rain so that was good. John H had a ride to Manjimup lined up. We headed straight to Nannup along Vasse Hwy, stopping to thaw out a bit, a few turned back here, the rest headed off to Manjimup via Graphite Rd stopping for a late morning tea. The café was very crowded, so we did not get to sit together for a chat, never the less the coffee was very good. We headed home via Donnelly River, Nannup and then Mowen Rd and Sues Rd arriving about 1:30PM. A good ride thanks John. Peter W Roy s Hamburger Run Another top day to be outside. Roys Hamburger Run the last one. A big thanks to Muriel for all those lunches she organised. 30 odd bikes turned out, we meandered to King Tree in Ferguson Valley. First stop to pick up Russell and his trusty BSA Sloper. So, on the trailer to King Tree made it and had a cuppa in the bush. Thanks to Leith for the morning tea always appreciated. Time to leave, Glens bike no spark so on the new trailer lucky I have a bus. Then on to Muriel s house for the hamburger. All went well. Another top day out exploring our beautiful backyard. 7
