Eight of LSU s nine all-time wins at the SEC Tournament have come under the helm of Brian Lee. LSU (13-6-2) will be making its second all-time appearance in the SEC Tournament title match with the lone other berth in the finals coming in Arkansas (13-4-3) is back in the SEC title game for the third-straight year and fifth time in its history. Both squads will be attempting to win their first ever SEC Tournament championship on Sunday. The Tigers are playing some of the best soccer in America as of late having won seven of their last 10 for a record that includes two top 25 wins. LSU will lace up the cleats for the fourth time in the last eight days on Sunday as they attempt to become the first team in SEC Tournament history to win the tournament title after playing in the opening round since this format was instituted in Series History - Arkansas Interestingly enough, LSU and Arkansas have never met before in the SEC Tournament. Arkansas prevailed earlier this season on Oct. 4 with a 2-1 win in double overtime. Tori Cannata scored both goals in that match, and LSU s lone goal came from senior Alex Thomas on a penalty kick in the 43rd minute of play. LSU owns the all-time series advantage having won 14 of the 24 matches between the two programs. Arkansas has won eight and there have also been two draws. Brockmeier in the Books Caroline Brockmeier is having a career year in the net during her senior campaign. She owns career bests in goals against average (0.99 avg.), save percentage (.815), wins (13) and shutouts (9). Her 23 career shutouts are the second most in program history. She has racked up 97 saves this season to bring her career total to 275 which is also the second most in school history, only nine behind Megan Kinneman s school record of 284. Her 28 career wins are the second most in school history, and her nine shutouts this season are tied for the second most in a single season in program history alongside Valerie Vogler (2007). Timely Thomas Alex Thomas has played the best soccer of her career as of late and leads the Tigers in points accounted for (18) and is tied for the team lead in goals (7) with Adrienne Richardson. Her career-long point streak of eight matches came to an end in Tuesday s game against Tennessee, but her presence was felt as she took six shots, four of which were on goal, and one forced a diving save by Shae Yanez, Tennessee s keeper. The eight match point streak was the second longest in LSU history, only falling behind the streak of Mandy Heintz that lasted 10 matches in Sixteen of her team-leading 18 points have been registered against SEC opponents and all those sixteen came within the eight-match streak for the senior from New Orleans. Her hat trick against Missouri on Sunday was the first by an LSU player at the SEC Tournament; it was the 22nd in LSU history. Thomas has played wherever she has been needed this season playing either on the back line or front line. Her 6,940 career minutes are the sixth most in LSU history and she just cracked the top 10 with the eighth most starts in school history with her 80th on Friday against South Carolina. She also ranks tied for second alongside Ashley Mitnick in the LSU record book for penalty kicks scored in a career with five; four in 2018 and one in Her four penalty kick scores ranks as the second most in the NCAA. Attacking Adrienne forward Adrienne Richardson ranks second on the team with 16 points registered and is tied for the team lead in goals (7) with Alex Thomas. Her dynamic skillset to LSU s attacking front has immediately bolstered the LSU offense. The Oakdale, Minn., native has scored multiple goals in three games this season against Texas State, Lamar and Alabama. Three of her seven goals have come against SEC opponents with the most recent one coming against Mississippi State on Oct. 25 that was an upper 90 rocket. She picked up the second assist of her LSU career in Tuesday s result against Tennessee when she and Marlena Cutura assisted Shannon Cooke s first-career goal. Richardson is the first player since Jorian Baucom (2016) to score multiple goals in at least three games for LSU in a single season.

Parker was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 10 as she helped LSU record three shutouts in a single week the previous week against Lamar, Stetson and Samford. Assisting Alexander Tinaya Alexander owns the team lead with six assists in 2018 and is the jump starter to an abundant amount of LSU s offensive opportunities. During the two SEC Tournament matches, Alexander has only been credited with one assist, but she has been involved in three of LSU s four goals at the conference tournament. She assisted Thomas on her first goal of the league tournament against Missouri, and then in the second overtime against Missouri, Alexander dribbled down towards the end line and sent in a cross that eventually wound up in Adrienne Richardson getting pulled down and resulting in a penalty that Alex Thomas would cash in to send the Tigers to the quarterfinals. On Tuesday against Tennessee, Alexander played a ball nicely into the Vols territory that Marlena Cutura was on the receiving end of. A couple of more passes and it resulted in the lone goal for LSU that came off of Shannon Cooke s foot. Alexander s.33 assists per game rank has her ranked sixth in the LSU record book for assists per game. Her six total assists in 2018 are the eighth-most in the SEC. Fab Freshmen LSU has received quality minutes from five freshmen in Abbey Newton headlines the class with four goals scored to go along with two assists for a total of 10 points. Molly Thompson adder her third goal of the season in the regular season finale against Mississippi State and Shannon Cooke just scored her first goal donning the Purple and Gold on Tuesday against Tennessee. Reese Moffatt has added an assist this season and played in all 20 matches. Meghan Johnson (has played in six matches) had the biggest moment of her young career on the biggest stage of her life on Tuesday. With LSU tied 6-6 in penalties against Tennessee, Johnson toed the spot with a chance to win it for the Tigers in the ninth round and her strike was phenomenal and sent LSU on to the SEC semifinals. International Flavor LSU has seven student-athletes on the roster that hail from outside of the United States. The foursome of Tinaya Alexander, Shannon Cooke, Lucy Parker and Chiara Ritchie-Williams all came across the pond from England. Reese Moffatt and Jade Clarke came to Baton Rouge via British Columbia, and Caitie Cantrill arrived in the states from Australia. Cooke, Ritchie-Williams, Parker and Alexander are all products of the England and Arsenal youth systems back home. Youthful Resurgence Seven of LSU s top nine scorers in 2018 are underclassmen. Adrienne Richardson, a sophomore transfer from Florida State, leads the way for underclassmen with 16 points (7g & 2a) and is followed by freshman Abbey Newton, who has accounted for 10 points (4g & 2a) in her debut season. Lindsey Eaton (2g & 2a), Lucy Parker (3 goals) and Molly Thompson (goals) have all chipped in six points apiece, and sophomore Tinaya Alexander has dished out a team leading six assists. Shannon Cooke scored the first goal of her career on Tuesday against Tennessee in the SEC quarterfinal round to move her point total on the season to four (1g & 2a). LSU has played up to as many as eight underclassmen on the field in LSU has received 43 percent of its points (37 of 80) from newcomers to rank as the second most in the conference. Newcomers who have scored in 2018 are Richardson, Newton, Thompson, Cooke and Moffatt. The Winning Streak LSU reeled off six straight wins after dropping the season opener to Villanova 2-1 in overtime before dropping its SEC opener to Texas A&M (Sept. 14). The Tigers outscored their opponents in the sixgame stretch by a tally of It was the seventh time in program history that LSU has registered a win streak of at least six games during a season. It s the second time in program history that the Tigers have registered at least a five-game winning streak in back-to-back seasons. LSU won seven in a row to start the 2017 campaign to go along with six straight this year, and the other occasion came in 2002 (nine in a row/school record) and 2003 (five in a Cutura Clicking Marlena Cutura is having the best season of her collegiate career in The junior has career highs in goals (3), assists (5) and total points (11). Two of her three goals this year have been game winners for the Tigers squad that is when she scores a goal or assists on one. She registered the first multi-assist game of her career earlier this season with a matchup against Stetson (Sept. 6). The first came off a corner and the second was a delicately delivered lead ball sent in to Thompson. She scored seven points (2g & 3a) in a four-game stretch from Aug. 30 to Sept. 9. The Tigers have won 13 and drawn 12 matches against nationally-ranked opponents in their history with 12 of those wins and all 12 draws coming during the Brian Lee era. 3 Tigers Drop Double Overtime Contest Against Arkansas Fayetteville, Ark. A goal in the 105th minute by Arkansas Tori Cannata gave the Razorbacks a double overtime victory over LSU on Oct. 4 at Razorback Field with a final tally of 2-1. The loss drops LSU to (1-3-1 SEC) while Arkansas improved to (4-1-0 SEC). Thomas Cashes in Penalty Kick As the first half was winding down, Tinaya Alexander was the recipient of a loose ball after an LSU goal kick. After making a couple defenders miss, she moved the ball out to the right side to Courtney Henderson. Henderson sent a beautiful ball into the box from deep and an Arkansas defender was charged with a handball in the box. Thomas was selected to take the penalty kick and she put it in with ease in the 43rd minute of play. It was her second goal of the season and both of them have come via penalty kicks. Arkansas Evens It Up Less than four minutes into the second half, Tori Cannata of Arkansas was credited with the equalizer. Cannata was the beneficiary of a skirmish inside the box that saw the ball bounce around for a couple of seconds before she put her foot on the ball and snuck it into the net. The Game Winner In the 105th minute, Cannata s redirected left-footed chip from four yards out on Arkansas 11th corner of the evening proved to be the game ender. Taylor Malham took the corner and her initial service into the box was headed into the ground by Kayla McKeon. Cannata was in the right spot at the right time and did the rest to give the Razorbacks the win. Overtime Chances for the Tigers LSU had two solid opportunities in the second overtime that required Arkansas keeper, Taylor Beitz, to make saves. The first one originated when Adrienne Richardson and Marlena Cutura executed a well-manufactured give-and-go from near midfield. Richardson ended up with the ball and beat an Arkansas defender to her right and tried to sneak a shot to the far post from just outside the 18 but it was turned away by Beitz. Less than 45 seconds later, the duo hooked up again for another opportunity. Cutura s original shot was blocked but she recovered the blocked shot and dished it to Richardson whose shot from 20 yards out was saved by Beitz.
