Providence College will travel to Milwaukee, Wis. to face BIG EAST defending champion Marquette on Friday, Feb. 2. The game will tip-off at 8:00 p.m. (ET) at the Al McGuire Center. TUNE-IN... 2 tallied 27 points, including the game-winning shot with five seconds left in regulation. FIRST MEETING OF THE SEASON... Providence College fell to #RV/RV Marquette, 77-60, on Jan. 10 Providence, R.I. The Friars trailed by just five points (55-50) with 8:31 remaining in regulation, but the Golden Eagles out-scored Providence down the stretch to take the victory. The Friars shot 66.7-percent (8-12), including 80-percent from threepoint territory (4-5) in the first quarter to mount a seven-point lead (20-13) after the first 10 minutes of action. In the second quarter, Marquette took its first lead (26-25) with 6:55 on the clock. The Golden Eagles outscored the Friars in the frame, as the Friars went without a made field goal for the final 8:15 of play. However, Providence still remained within striking distance heading into halftime, trailing by seven (37-30). Providence battled in the third quarter to get within three (48-45) with 2:13 remaining. Marquette used a 6-3 edge in the scoring column to close the quarter and take a advantage into the final 10 minutes and followed with a decisive offensive effort in the fourth quarter to take the win. A key factor in the game was turnovers. Providence committed 24 miscues and the Golden Eagles benefited by outscoring the Friars in points off turnovers. The Friars held their ground on the boards, as the two teams each hauled in 36 rebounds. Jovana Nogic finished the night with a game-high 24 points. Freshman Chanell Williams (Bronx, N.Y.) chipped in 11 points, six rebounds, three assists and a career-high five steals. Junior Ny-Asia Franklin (East Orange, N.J.) contributed nine points, seven rebounds and two steals. FRIARS EARN SEASON SWEEP OF ST. JOHN S... On Jan. 28, the Friars completed the season sweep of St. John s with a victory over the Red Storm. It marked the first set of consecutive wins over St. John s since earning back-to-back wins on Feb. 7, 2001 (83-63) and Feb. 6, 2002 (62-51). Jovana Nogic paced the Friars with a game-high 27 points on 9-17 shooting from the field overall, and hit 5-7 attempts from threepoint territory. Providence was efficient on the offensive end in the opening 20 minutes of play, shooting 56-percent from the field (14-25), including 57.1-percent from three-point territory (4-7). The Friars built a 10-point lead (23-13) with 8:35 remaining in the second quarter. St. John s battled back to within three on two occasions midway through the frame, but the Friars stayed poised and took a edge into halftime. Maddie Jolin led the Friars with 11 points in the first half on 3-4 shooting from the field, including a 3-3 performance from beyond the three-point arc. In the third quarter, Nogic went off for 15 of her 27 points and the Friars led by as many as 21 (59-38) with 1:07 left in the frame. Nogic hit 5-of-6 shots from the floor in the quarter, including all four of her attempts from beyond the arc. St. John s closed the third quarter with five-straight points from Qadashah Hoppie to cut the deficit to 16 (59-43) heading into the final 10 minutes of play. Midway through the fourth quarter (5:25), Providence maintained a 19-point cushion with the scoreboard in favor of the Friars, At that point, St. John s exploded on a 17-2 run to cut Providence s lead to four (69-65) with just eight seconds to play. Nogic hit one of two free throws to keep it a two-possession game and the Red Storm s Shamachya Duncan connected on a three-pointer as time expired, but SJU s come-back effort fell short. Chanell Williams tallied 13 points, four rebounds and three assists for Providence. Jolin finished the day with 11 points, four rebounds and one steal. The Friars shot 50-percent from the field for the game (26-52), marking the sixth time this season Providence has shot 50-percent or better in a game. PC was impressive from beyond the arc, converting 8-14 attempts to produce its best percentage from threepoint territory during BIG EAST play this season (57.1-percent). JOVANA NOGIC NAMED TO BIG EAST WEEKLY HONOR ROLL... Jovana Nogic was named to the BIG EAST Weekly honor roll Monday, Jan. 29. She earned the honor for the first time this season, having previously been named BIG EAST Player of the Week on Nov. 27. Nogic entered the season as a member of the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. 3 pair of games against Seton Hall and St. John s. She propelled the Friars to a season sweep of St. John s (70-68) on Jan. 28 with a game-high 27 points, including 15 in the third quarter. It marked her eighth 20+ point game of the season and 15th of her career. For the week, she shot 46.2-percent from the floor (12-26), including a blistering 63.6-percent from beyond the three-point line. NOGIC HAS PUT UP SOLID NUMBERS AGAINST MARQUETTE... During her career, Jovana Nogic has averaged 19.0 points per game against the Golden Eagles. In five meetings against Marquette all-time, she has reached double figures in the scoring column four times. Her lowest scoring out-put against Marquette came during her freshman year, when she was held to eight points in the second of two meetings that season. She enters Friday s match-up have recorded three-straight 20+ point games against Marquette. FRIARS IMPROVE TO 5-1 WHEN SHOOTING 50-PERCENT OR BETTER FROM THE FIELD... The Friars have shot 50-percent or better from the field in six games this season. Providence has compiled a 5-1 record in those games, with its only loss coming at Creighton (73-56) on Jan. 13. Most recently, Providence shot 50-percent against St. John s on Jan. 28, having converted attempts from the floor en route to a victory. FRIARS OWN SIX VICTORIES ON THE ROAD THIS SEASON... Providence has registered six of its nine wins away from home this season. Three of those wins came on a neutral court during the Savannah Invitational (Nov ). Providence defeated Northeastern (98-95 OT), Yale (55-51) and St. John s (49-44) on its opponent s home court. During BIG EAST Conference action, the Friars have compiled a 1-4 record on the road. FRIARS LEAD THE BIG EAST AND RANK 10TH IN THE NATION IN THREE-POINT PERCENTAGE... Providence College leads the BIG EAST Conference and ranks 10th in the nation (NCAA Division I) in three-point field goal percentage (.391), having converted 147 of 376 attempts. The Friars current shooting percentage is the highest in program history for a single season. Last year, the Friars shot a single-season program record.374 from three-point territory ( ). REGAINING FORM FROM BEYOND THE ARC... The Friars suffered through a stretch of four games between Jan. 5 and Jan. 13, where they shot a combined from three-point territory (25.4-percent). The Friars have regained their form over the course of the last four games, having hit a combined attempts from beyond the arc (45.9-percent). The Friars are coming off of their best shooting performance from three-point territory this season during BIG EAST regular-season play, having hit 57.1-percent (8-14) from three-point range against St. John s (Jan. 28). WILLIAMS SHINES IN STARTING ROLE... Overall this season, Williams is averaging 6.2 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. She was inserted into the starting line-up vs. St. John s on Jan. 2 for the first time in her career and has started nine games for the Friars since then. As a starter, Williams is averaging 10.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game. Five of her six double-digit scoring games have come during BIG EAST Conference play (as a starter). JOLIN QUIETLY DOING HER JOB... Junior guard Maddie Jolin has put together a steady season for the Friars. She ranks second in scoring (11.5 ppg) and rebounding (4.1 rpg) and leads the team in steals (1.1 spg) and three-point percentage (.431, ), while also contributing 1.6 assists per game. She has reached double figures in the scoring column in 16 games, including two 20-point outings vs. Northeastern (23) and DePaul (20). Maddie Jolin leads the Friars and ranks second in the BIG EAST Conference in three-point field goal percentage. She has hit 43.1-percent of her attempts from beyond the arc (53-123) and has hit at least three, three-point buckets in game 12 times, including each of the last four games. SINGLE DIGITS... Providence is 6-8 in games decided by 10-points or less, including a 5-2 mark in games decided by five points or less. FRIARS COME UP JUST SHORT... Eight of the Friars 14 losses this season have been decided by a single-digit margin, including two by five points or less. NOGIC TIED FOR 25TH PLACE ON FRIARS ALL-TIME SCORING LIST... On Jan. 10 vs. Marquette, junior Jovana Nogic became the 34th player in program history to eclipse 1,000 points. She hit the milestone just 1:30 into the game on a three-point bucket. Nogic finished the game with 24 points. Heading into Friday s game against Marquette, Nogic is tied for 25th on Providence s all-time career scoring list with 1,104 points. She needs 13 points to overtake Jen Gombotz 01 and Meghan Hinds 00, who are currently tied for 23rd on the list with 1,116 points. NOGIC RANKS FOURTH IN THE NATION IN FREE-THROW PERCENTAGE... Jovana Nogic ranks first in the BIG EAST and fourth in the nation in free throw percentage. She has shot 94.9-percent from the foul line (74-78). At one point during the season, Nogic had converted a season-best 33-consecutive attempts from the foul line. For her career, she has cashed in on 92.3-percent of her attempts at the line ( ). She has made a single-game career high of eight free throws in two games this season vs. Boston College (8-10) and St. John s (8-8). NOGIC HOLDS SINGLE-SEASON RECORD FOR THREE-POINTERS... Jovana Nogic set the Providence College single-season record for three-pointers, with 91, during the season. The previous record was held by Julie Wheeler 98, which she set during the season, with 82. For her career, Nogic has hit attempts from threepoint territory (.409). The Providence College record for career three-pointers made was set by Wheeler (252) in 101 games ( ). Nogic has hit 50+ three-pointers during each of her three seasons with the team. This season, she is from beyond the arc (.396). NOGIC RANKS AMONG NCAA ACTIVE CAREER LEADERS FROM BEYOND THE ARC... Jovana Nogic ranks 18th among active NCAA Division I players in career three-point percentage. Nogic has hit 40.9-percent of her attempts from beyond the arc ( ). Additionally, she ranks 16th among active NCAA career leaders in three-pointers made per game (2.54). DOUBLE-TROUBLE... Junior college transfer Ny-Asia Franklin recorded the first double-double of her career with the Friars on Nov. 14 against Northeastern. She posted 13 points and 13 boards against the Huskies. Franklin joins Allegra Botteghi (4) and Maddie Jolin (1) as the only active players on the current roster to record a double-double. FRANKLIN PACES THE FRIARS ON THE BOARDS... Ny-Asia Franklin leads Providence in rebounding with an average of 4.6 boards per game. She has pulled down 5+ rebounds in nine games this season. She grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds against Northeastern (Nov. 14), and has registered a season-high eight boards during BIG EAST regular-season play twice vs. Villanova (Dec. 30) and St. John s (Jan. 2). FRIARS CLAIM A WINNING RECORD IN NON-CONFERENCE PLAY IN BACK-TO-BACK SEASONS... The Friars finished non-conference play with a 7-5 mark and have secured a winning record in non-conference action in back-to-back seasons for the first time since the and campaigns. Last season, Providence finished the non-conference portion of their schedule with an 8-4 record. FRIARS CLAIM SAVANNAH INVITATIONAL TITLE... Providence posted a 3-0 record and claimed the Savannah Invitational title in Savannah, Ga. The Friars defeated Savannah State (78-48), Wright State (74-69) and Stetson (56-45). Chanell Williams earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors for a second time this season, when the league announced it s weekly awards on Jan. 22. The previous week, Williams posted a solid line in a pair of road games against Xavier and Butler, averaging 8.5 points, 3.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game. She posted the top assist-turnover ratio for a newcomer last week (+2.3), while also shooting 50-percent from the field (8-16). Williams previously earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors on Jan. 8. JOLIN NAMED TO BIG EAST WEEKLY HONOR ROLL... Jolin earned BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll recognition for the second time in her career on Jan. 8. She averaged 15.7 points per game and shot.533 from the field (16-30), including.529 from three-point territory (9-17). Jolin also contributed 3.3 rebounds and 2.7 steals per game. She is the only Friar to score in double figures during each game of the regular-season BIG EAST schedule. Jolin capped the week with a 20-point performance against #RV/RV DePaul on Jan. 7, marking her second 20-point game of the season and fourth of her career. She also collected a season-high five steals against the Blue Demons, marking the third time in her career that she has picked up 5+ steals in a single game. NOGIC NAMED BIG EAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK... Jovana Nogic was named BIG EAST Player of the Week on Nov. 27. It marks the first time in her career that she has earned the honor, and comes on the heels of being named Most Valuable Player at the Savannah Invitational on Nov. 23. Nogic led the Friars to a 3-0 record and the tournament title at the Savannah Invitational, where she averaged 22.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. She shot an impressive 43.5-percent from the field (20-46), including a blistering 57.1-percent from three point territory (16-28). Nogic also was a perfect from the foul line. BOTTEGHI NAMED TO SAVANNAH INVITATIONAL ALL-TOURNA- MENT TEAM... Allegra Botteghi was named to the Savannah Invitational All-Tournament Team on Nov. 23. She played steady basketball throughout the tournament and averaged 7.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game. Botteghi posted a tournament-high 12 points in the Friars victory over a tough Wright State team on Nov. 22. She also led Providence in rebounding in two of three games at the Savannah Invitational. In the Friars game against Stetson, Botteghi tallied a teambest six points and four rebounds in the first half to keep Providence in good position to stage a comeback. JOLIN NAMED TO OCEAN STATE TIP-OFF ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM... Junior guard Maddie Jolin earned Ocean State Tip-Off All-Tournament Team honors on Dec. 3. She averaged 15.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steal per game at the event in games vs. Brown and Rhode Island. Her scoring and rebounding averages were tops on the team. She shot.579 from the field (11-19),.500 from three-point territory and from the charity stripe (2-2) while averaging 32 minutes per game. Jolin tallied 16 points and nine rebounds against Brown and followed with 14 points, six boards, three assists and two steals against Rhode Island. MADDIE JOLIN SPARKS IMPROBABLE COMEBACK... Junior guard Maddie Jolin tallied 18 of her career-high 23 points in the fourth quarter, as the Friars mounted an improbable come-back victory against Northeastern on Nov. 14. The Huskies led with 9:09 remaining in the game, before Jolin rattled off 10-consecutive points en route to a 15-0 run by the Friars. Jolin shot 6-7 from the field in the final quarter,

6 including a 3-3 performance from three-point territory. She also hit 2-3 free-throw attempts. For the game, Jolin was 8-11 from the field, including 4-5 from beyond the arc. NOGIC DRAINS CAREER-HIGH 31 POINTS... Jovana Nogic led the Friars with a career-best 31 points on Nov. 14 against Northeastern. She complemented a red-hot Maddie Jolin in the fourth quarter with nine points, and took control in the overtime, scoring eight of the Friars 13 points in the extra session. For the game, Nogic shot from the field and hit 6-6 shots from the free-throw line. Nogic s 31 points are the second most scored by a BIG EAST Conference player this season. Audrey Faber (Creighton) notched 34 points against Drake on Dec. 3. THIRTY SOMETHING... Jovana Nogic is the first Friar to score 30+ points in a game since Tori Rule 15 dropped 30 points against Marquette on March 7, Nogic s 31 points against Northeastern marks the second-highest scoring total in the BIG EAST Conference this season. It marks the highest finish for the program since conference realignment, and best finish overall in league play since when the team finished fourth in the BIG EAST 7 division. WHAT S NEXT... Junior Jovana Nogic was announced as a candidate for the inaugural Ann Meyers Drysdale Award. The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced its watch list, comprised of 20 players, on Tuesday, Nov. 7. Named after the first player, male or female, to be named to the All-America Team in four-straight seasons, the annual award recognizes the top shooting guard in women s NCAA Division I college basketball. Nogic led the BIG EAST Conference and finished 19th in NCAA Division I in three-point field goal percentage (.429) and 20th in three-point field goals made per game (3.03). She ranked second in the BIG EAST and 25th in the nation in three-point field goals made (91). Additionally, Nogic hit at least one three-point bucket in 28 of the Friars 30 games. She knocked down three-or-more three-point attempts in 18 games, including six games with five-or-more makes from beyond the arc. On Jan. 27, 2017, Nogic recorded a career-best seven three-point makes (7-11) vs. eventual BIG EAST Tournament Champion Marquette. Her shooting prowess also extends to the free-throw line, where she knocked down 33-of-36 attempts (.917). Nogic is one of five players to land on the watch list from the BIG EAST Conference, joining Ashton Millender (DePaul), Natisha Hiedeman (Marquette), Allazia Blockton (Marquette) and Akina Wellere (St. John s). The Selection Committee for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award is composed of top women s college basketball personnel, including media members, head coaches, sports information directors and Hall of Famers.
