Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. MT. GAMEDAY PROMOTIONS Thursday s contest against the Lopes will feature every fans favorite event with post-game autographs following the final buzzer. Saturday s matchup against the Roadrunners is set to feature the Pistoleros at halftime. SCOUTING THE LOPES Grand Canyon enters the Pan Am on Thursday night holding the same record as the Aggies at 7-8 overall and 1-0 in WAC play. The Lopes are currently riding a five-game winning streak, most recently taking down Seattle U at home GCU averages 64.1 points per game and has four players averaging doubledigits. Brie Mobley leads the team with 19.2 points per game and 8.2 rebounds. Jessica Gajewski has added 13.3 per contest. August Touchard has averaged 10.6 per game to go along with a team-leading 26 steals. Jordan Jackson has put up 10.4 per game and has a team-high.418 clip from three-point range. The Lopes best play has come in the fourth quarter with the team putting up 254 points in contrast to allowing just 234 through 15 games this season. Grand Canyon s defense has forced an average of 14.8 turnovers per game and has held opponents to a.290 clip from downtown. LOOKING AT THE ROADRUNNERS Saturday s contest against CSU Bakersfield pits the Aggies against a Roadrunner squad who currently sits at 7-8 overall and 1-0 in WAC play. Bakersfield just ended a two-game losing skid when they took down Utah Valley on Jan. 6. Aja Williams has been the best scorer for the Roadrunners averaging 12.5 per game. Jazmyne Bartee leads the team on the boards with 6.6 rebounds per game and has a team-high 26 blocks. The Bakersfield defense currently leads the WAC in scoring defense allowing just 56.1 points per game and also leads the conference in field goal percentage defense allowing opponents to shoot just.370 from the field. ANOTHER WEEK, ANOTHER TOP PERFORMANCE The Western Athletic Conference announced the players of the week on Monday, Jan. 8. A historic night in the WAC opener saw NM State guard Brooke Salas earn the nod to open NM State Womens Basketball

3 The Placentia, Calif. native led the Aggies to a victory over Chicago State to begin conference play. The strong play featured Salas scoring 23 of the Aggies 28 points over eight minutes of play, including knocking down a jumper to close out the third quarter and give NM State the lead. This buzzer-beating shot also made her the 23rd Aggie in program history to join the 1,000 point club. After 39 minutes played for the Aggies, Salas recorded a double-double with a career-high 33 points to go along with 13 rebounds. The junior was also disruptive on the defensive end forcing five steals and adding three blocks. Through 15 games this season, the guard leads the WAC in blocks (26), ranks second in scoring (19.1) and is fourth in rebounding (103). SALAS JOINS 1,000 POINT CLUB Trailing Chicago State in the closing seconds of the third quarter, NM State guard Brooke Salas knocked down a jumper to beat the buzzer. This basket not only gave the Aggies the lead but it also made Salas the 23rd player in program history to join the 1,000 point club. The junior guard joins a pair of former teammates Brianna Freeman and Moriah Mack who became a part of the elite club in LAST TIME OUT The New Mexico State women s basketball team opened Western Athletic Conference play against Chicago State on Saturday, Jan. 6, in the Pan American Center. Despite trailing after 20 minutes, the Aggies came out and dominated in the second half, led by Brooke Salas, en route to a victory over the Cougars. Following the victory to open WAC play, Salas led the way on a historic night for the guard as she recorded a double-double with a career-high 33 points and 13 rebounds. A pair of Aggies also finished the night in double-digits as Pack scored 12 and M. Mills added 10. As a team, the Aggies dominated down low outscoring the Cougars in the paint while also outrebounding Chicago State, which included 18 offensive boards. UP NEXT New Mexico State hits the road for the first time in 2018 for a pair of tough Western Athletic Conference contests. First up the team heads to take on Seattle U. on Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. MT. Pack averaged a double-double (21.0 points/10.0 rebounds) in the tournament, which saw the Aggies split their games. In a heart-breaking loss to Northeastern the Phoenix, Ariz. native put up 15 points and eight rebounds to lead NM State. Then to close out the tournament the Aggies took down host Long Beach State The victory saw Pack score a team-leading 27 points to go along with 12 rebounds SEASON HIGHLIGHTS - NM State was named the preseason favorite to win the WAC by both media and coaches. - The Aggies set a new school record for wins in a row with Moriah Mack was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year and WAC Tournament MVP. - NM State defeated rivals UNM and UTEP in the same season for the first time in 21 years. PRESEASON FAVORITES The Western Athletic Conference released the preseason predictions from both coaches and media in which the Aggies were unanimously selected to win the WAC. This is the third season in a row which saw NM State selected as the preseason favorite. #AGGIEUP NM State women s basketball returns two starters and four letter winners from the squad. The returnees include junior Brooke Salas who was named to the All-WAC First-Team in Salas also got the nod for All-WAC First-Team on the coaches and media members preseason poll in Point guard Zaire Williams also earned the vote for second-team in the coaches poll. NEW FACES ON THE COACHING STAFF The New Mexico State women s basketball staff got a new look for which saw four new coaches join the Aggie family. Brooke Atkinson became the team s 11th head coach in program history on May 3rd, Atkinson then began to form her staff in the coming months welcoming on Ryan Brooke Atkinson joins NM State after spending the past three seasons at Colorado State University. However, Atkinson is no stranger Las Cruces as the Colorado native spent eight seasons on the Aggie bench from In her three seasons in Fort Collins, Colo., the Rams enjoyed three-consecutive Mountain West Conference regular-season titles, including an NCAA appearance during the campaign their first appearance in the Big Dance in 14 years (2002). Ryan McAdams enters his first season with New Mexico State after spending seven years as the head coach of Eastern Arizona. The Gila Monsters reached the national tournament in three of the last four seasons under McAdams. While at the helm for seven years, McAdams saw EAC named runner-up NJCAA Academic Team of the Year with the second-highest team GPA out of 181 schools, twice. Every two-year player under McAdams transferred to four-year schools under his watch. Aisha Stewart spent the past two years as assistant coach with the North Texas women s basketball team. She also served as recruiting coordinator, academic liaison and guards coach. During Stewart s time with the Mean Green, she was able to improve the teams winning percentage in each of the two seasons. Stewart led the North Texas attack as they were awarded with the NCAA Division I Women s Basketball Shooting Award for the most improved field-goal percentage in the season. DeAudra Brown joins NM State after two seasons as an assistant coach at Seward County Community College. In those years at Seward County, Brown helped lead the Lady Saints to a overall record along with a pair of appearances in the National Junior College Athletic Association Region VI Tournament Game and one in the NJCAA National Tournament. A leader off the court as well, Brown helped the Lady Saints in the classroom to an NJCAA Academic Team of the Year recognition with a 3.56 team grade point average in NM State Womens Basketball

8 BROOKE ATKINSON EXPERIENCE NM State Experience 1st Season NM State Record 7-8 NM State WAC Record 0-0 Collegiate Experience 1st Season Collegiate Record 7-8 Alma Mater Wichita State, 2003 Brooke Atkinson was named the 11th head coach in Aggie women s basketball history on Wednesday, May 3, to the Las Cruces community and media. Atkinson joins NM State after spending the past three seasons at Colorado State University. However, Atkinson is no stranger Las Cruces as the Colorado native spent eight seasons on the Aggie bench from In her three seasons in Fort Collins, Colo., the Rams enjoyed threeconsecutive Mountain West Conference regular-season titles, including an NCAA appearance during the campaign their first appearance in the Big Dance in 14 years (2002). Her first season with CSU ( ) resulted in in a 23-8 overall mark and 15-3 record in Mountain West play. The Rams also appeared in the WNIT for the second-straight season, the first time Colorado State has made back-toback postseason appearances since the seasons. With Atkinson s help, Colorado State has now produced the last three MWC Players of the Year with Ellen Nystrom laying claim to her second-straight player of the year accolade this past season. Prior to joining the Rams, Atkinson spent three seasons at the University of South Dakota ( ) where she initially worked under current CSU Rams head coach Ryun Williams in her first season. The Coyotes enjoyed postseason berths in all three years Atkinson was in Vermillion, S.D., including South Dakota s first-ever NCAA Division I Tournament appearance in The Coyotes claimed their first Summit League Tournament Championship in 2014 as well, beating out in-state rival South Dakota State in route to its first NCAA Tournament appearance. Atkinson also led the Yotes to the conference tournament championship game in USD also advanced to the WBI Tournament semifinals that year and fell to the eventual champions, McNeese State. Atkinson s first season with South Dakota resulted in the Coyote s first 20-plus win season as a Division I member institution. USD finished the campaign 23-8 overall and 12-6 in the Summit League good for third while earning its first WNIT bid. The Yotes reached the second round of the WNIT with a victory over Drake before falling to Colorado Before joining South Dakota, Atkinson coached at New Mexico State for eight seasons ( ). While in Las Cruces, she helped the Aggies reach the postseason for the first time in 16 years. As a player, Atkinson started her career at Western Nebraska Community College ( ) before finishing her collegiate career at Wichita State ( ). Her 127 assists during the campaign still ranks seventh all-time while her 77 steals that season ranks 18th in Cougars history. In addition, Atkinson s 203 career-assists at WNCC sit at No. 10 all-time. Meanwhile, her.328 career shooting clip from 3-point range at Wichita State places her 13th in Shockers history. Atkinson graduated from Wichita State in 2003 with a bachelor s in elementary education and earned a master s degree in educational curriculum from New Mexico State in NM State Womens Basketball
