She has 83 wins in four seasons, already ranking fourth all-time at U-M. Her.606 winning percentage is tops by a Michigan women s basketball coach and with 17 more wins, she will become only the second coach in program history with 100 victories in Ann Arbor. Michigan is coming off a season and a WNIT semifinal appearance in It marked the fifth straight 20-win campaign for the Wolverines, the longest streak in school history. Michigan set school records last year in points (2,751), points per game (78.6), field goals made (1,058), field goal percentage (.478), three-point field goal percentage (.398) and assists (606). U-M returns its top three leading scorers from a season ago in junior Katelynn Flaherty (22.1 ppg), sophomore Hallie Thome (14.4 ppg, 63.1 FG%) and senior Siera Thompson (9.4 ppg, 5.1 apg). Michigan returns three regular starters in Katelynn Flaherty, Siera Thompson and Hallie Thome as the trio combined to start every game last season. In addition, junior Jillian Dunston (9), senior Danielle Williams (7), sophomore Boogie Brozoski (5) and sophomore Nicole Munger (1) each started at least one contest last season. Michigan welcomes a four-member freshman class in Kysre Gondrezick, Akienreh Johnson, KeAsja Peace and Kayla Robbins. In addition to the freshmen, Abby Cole, currently a member of the Michigan volleyball team, will join the Wolverines following the completion of her volleyball season. She will have two seasons of eligibility on the hardwood. Michigan s roster features two players -- Hallie Thome and Danielle Williams -- who each have twin sisters playing Division I basketball. Thome (Hannah at Ohio) and Williams (Dominique at UCLA) will each face their twin this year as Michigan is playing both at UCLA and hosting Ohio. Michigan s coaching staff has remained intact for the third straight season as Melanie Moore (fifth season), Megan Duffy (third season) and Joy McCorvey (fifth season) return alongside head coach Kim Barnes Arico. U-M s assistant coaches combined to score 4,107 points during their college careers.

5 5 Head Coach Kim Barnes Arico Fifth Year Montclair State, 93 Career W-L: Michigan W-L: Kim Barnes Arico enters her fifth season as head coach in , guiding the Wolverines to at least 20 wins in each of her first four seasons. She was announced as the ninth head coach in the 40-year history of the Wolverine women s basketball program on April 20, The only coach in program history with four 20-win seasons, Barnes Arico already ranks fourth in Michigan history with 83 wins and is tops in winning percentage at.606. She has led Michigan to the postseason in each of her four seasons, making the NCAA Tournament in 2013 and stringing together back-to-back WNIT Semifinal appearances in 2015 and Michigan is at home during the KBA era as U-M has won at least 13 home games in three of her four seasons. Barnes Arico completed a two-year stint with USA Basketball ( ), serving as an assistant coach alongside Dawn Staley (South Carolina) and Jeff Walz (Louisville) for the U18 (2014) and U19 (2015) teams. She won a pair of gold medals at the FIBA U19 World Championships in 2015 and at the FIBA U18 America s Championship in Michigan rewrote the offensive record book in , setting new school records in points (2,751), points per game (78.6), field goals made (1,058), field goal percentage (.478), three-point field goal percentage (.398) and assists (606). The Maize and Blue finished the season ranked fifth nationally in three-point field goal percentage, sixth in field goal percentage and 11th in points per game. U-M won 21 games, the secondbest total in school history, while advancing to the semifinals of the WNIT. Katelynn Flaherty scored a school-record 774 points en route to become just the third Wolverine to earn consensus All-Big Ten first-team honors and the second to be named to the WBCA All-Region team. Hallie Thome, a Big Ten All-Freshman Team member, finished second nationally in field goal percentage (.630), while Siera Thompson dished out 178 assists for a new school record. Michigan went in and swept in-state rival Michigan State in the regular season for the first time since the campaign. Flaherty became the first Wolverine in school history to be named the Big Ten Sixth Player of the Year and was the first freshman to earn a spot on the all-freshman team since Cyesha Goree picked up her second straight All-Big Ten second-team nod and Nicole Elmblad completed her illustrious career by earning the Big Ten Medal of Honor, WNIT All-Tournament Team accolades and an Academic All-America third-team citation. U-M completed the season with a mark after making the third round of the WNIT. Goree led four players to garner All-Big Ten honors, as the junior forward was named to the second team by both the coaches and the media. Elmblad was also named the program s second-ever Academic All-American, earning a second-team nod. Barnes Arico picked up her 300th career victory in when the Wolverines defeated Southern, 83-59, on Dec. 20. Michigan went in Barnes Arico s first season, tying the mark for most wins in school history. The Wolverines earned their second straight NCAA Tournament bid and advanced to the second round for the first time since U-M was ranked as high as No. 22 in the Associated Press poll in January, the first time the Maize and Blue was listed in the poll since the season. The Wolverines tied the longest winning streak in school history during the season, winning 10 straight games from Dec. 1, 2012-Jan. 17, Senior Kate Thompson was named to the All-Big Ten second team after hitting a school-record 110 three-pointers and participating in the Allstate Three-Point Shootout. Fellow senior Jenny Ryan picked up All-Big Ten third-team honors, with seniors Nya Jordan and Rachel Sheffer earning honorable mention. The winningest women s basketball coach in St. John s history, Barnes Arico compiled a overall record and five 20-win campaigns. She was twice named Big East Coach of the Year (2006, 2012) and had 11 of her players earn All-Big East honors and six receive all-rookie team selection. In , St. John s posted a overall record and finished second (13-3) in the Big East standings. Barnes Arico was named the 2012 Big East Coach of the Year and was a finalist for the USBWA National Coach of the Year award. St. John s finished No. 15 in the final USA Today Coaches poll and reached its highest-ever ranking of No. 13 by the Associated Press (March 5, 2012). The highlight of the season was when Barnes Arico and her Red Storm ended Connecticut s 99-game home winning streak with a win on Feb. 19, 2012, at Gampel Pavilion. It was also the UConn s first home loss to an unranked opponent in nearly 19 years. Prior to accepting her position at St. John s, Barnes Arico was extremely successful in three seasons at NCAA Division II Adelphi ( ). She led the Panthers to three consecutive postseason appearances, posting a overall record and a league mark. She guided Adelphi to a 28-win season in , the year the program returned to the NCAA Tournament field for the first time since In , Adelphi won its first New York Collegiate Athletic Conference (NYCAC) championship and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. The Panthers finished with a 28-3 record and earned the school s first national ranking in school history, finishing No. 12. Barnes Arico was named the NYCAC, NIT/Metropolitan Basketball Writers Division II and Nassau County Sports Commission Outstanding Female Coach of the Year. In addition to her coaching responsibilities, Barnes Arico served as an assistant athletic director and was the academic liaison for student-athletes at Adelphi. She also served as a member of the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional Selection Committee and the ECAC Advisory Committee. Barnes Arico started her head coaching career at Fairleigh Dickinson-Madison, a Division III University in New Jersey. She led the Devils to a record during the season before accepting the head coaching post at New Jersey Institute of Technology for two seasons ( ). Helping the program transition from Division III to Division II, Barnes Arico was named the New Jersey Coach of the Year after taking the program from the five-win total in her first season to 11 victories in year two. A native of Mastic Beach, N.Y., Barnes Arico helped lead Stony Brook University to the 1989 NCAA Division III Tournament as a freshman. She spent her final three seasons at Montclair State University, serving as captain during her junior and senior seasons. Barnes Arico led the team to back-to-back ECAC Tournament appearances in 1991 and 1992 and was the team s leading scorer both seasons. A scholar-athlete award recipient, Barnes Arico graduated from Montclair State in 1993 with a bachelor s degree in physical education and health. Barnes Arico went into teaching after graduation, accepting a position as a physical education and health teacher at the Academy of Saint Aloysius in Jersey City, N.J., during the academic year. She left Saint Aloysius and moved into an identical position at Chatham High School from in Chatham, N.J. Barnes Arico and her husband, Larry Arico, are the parents of a son, Trevor, and daughters Emma and Cecelia. The Wolverines finished tied for fifth in the Big Ten with a 9-7 record, reaching the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament. U-M defeated Michigan State, 70-69, during the Crisler Dedication weekend for its first win over the Spartans since the season. Prior to joining the Maize and Blue, she spent 10 seasons at the helm of the St. John s women s hoops program, building the Red Storm into a national power. She guided St. John s to four NCAA Tournament appearances, with the Red Storm advancing to the Sweet 16 in 2012 after back-to-back second-round appearances (2010, 11).

7 7 Assistant Coach Melanie Moore Fifth Year Siena, 99 Melanie Moore enters her fifth season as an assistant coach with the University of Michigan women s basketball team in She has helped Michigan to the postseason in each of her four seasons, making the NCAA Tournament in 2013 and stringing together back-to-back WNIT Semifinal appearances in 2015 and Michigan rewrote the offensive record book in , setting new school records in points (2,751), points per game (78.6), field goals made (1,058), field goal percentage (.478), three-point field goal percentage (.398) and assists (606). Moore transitioned to coaching the post players in after spending her first two seasons with the guards, helping Cyesha Goree to her second consecutive All-Big Ten second-team nod. She also helped Nicole Elmblad earn a spot on the WNIT All-Tournament Team. In Moore s second season ( ), Michigan went and made the third round of the WNIT. The Wolverines also set then-program records for points (2,351) and assists (524). Moore helped guards Shannon Smith, Elmblad and Siera Thompson earn All-Big Ten honors after each one averaged double figures for the season. Siera Thompson set a then-freshman record for three-pointers in a season (75) and hit a three-pointer in all 34 games. Moore helped Michigan to one of its most successful seasons in program history during her first season in , as the Wolverines tied program records for wins (22) and consecutive wins (10). U-M made just its third second-round appearance in the NCAA Tournament after earning a No. 8 seed. Moore was instrumental in the development of Michigan s guards, helping seniors Kate Thompson (second team) and Jenny Ryan (third team) to All-Big Ten honors. Thompson set a new school record with 110 three-pointers on the season, finishing her career ranked as Michigan s second-most prolific three-point shooter. Moore was ranked No. 12 on collegeinsiders.com s Top-25 Mid-Major Women s College Basketball Assistants. The Tigers finished the year at 24-5 (14-0 Ivy) and rode a 17-game winning streak into the NCAA Tournament. The squad posted a 24-5 overall record and earned votes in both national polls throughout the season. The Tigers went 13-1 in the Ivy League to win their second straight championship, earning the program s second consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament. In , Princeton finished 26-3 with a perfect 14-0 mark in the League to reach the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. The team set numerous records during the year including: most wins in a season (26), winning 25 of those 26 games by double figures, most road victories (14), longest win streak (21), longest home win streak (9), fewest losses (3), best win percentage (.897), most conference wins (14), most points (2,051), and highest scoring average (70.7). The Tigers ranked sixth in the nation in scoring defense and fifth in scoring margin. Prior to joining the staff at Princeton, Moore was an assistant coach at University of Dayton for one season after gaining experience at both Indiana State and her alma mater, Siena College. Moore graduated from Siena in 1999 with a degree in finance and spent two years following graduation playing professionally in Luxembourg and Israel. She remains the all-time leading rebounder and ranks second in the category in Siena s Division I history, with 1,122 rebounds and 2,021 points. She was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Year in both 1998 and In 2001, Moore returned to Siena as an admissions officer before joining the women s basketball staff as an assistant coach for the season.
