U-M has made the postseason in each of head coach Kim Barnes Arico s five seasons. U-M is 14-4 in postseason action under KBA. The Wolverines are making their third straight appearance in the quarterfinals of the WNIT. U-M knocked off Southern Miss in 2015 and Temple in 2016 in the quarterfinal round. The Maize and Blue has won 25 games this season, setting a new program record for wins. In addition, U-M has set a new record for home wins with 17, compiling a 17-1 mark at Crisler Center. Senior Siera Thompson is Michigan s career leader in games played at 138 after her appearance against St. John s (March 23). She is also two assists away from tying Anne Thorius for first alltime (537). Junior Katelynn Flaherty, who was named to the WBCA All-Region Team on Thursday (March 23), is now the owner of the top two scoring seasons in school history. Flaherty set the record last season with 774 points, with her 672 points this season ranking second. Sophomore Hallie Thome led the way offensively for Michigan, going for 19 points and six rebounds, with junior Katelynn Flaherty turning in 17 points, three boards and four assists. Senior Siera Thompson went for eight points, six boards, three assists and two steals in 39 minutes of action. U-M held a advantage on the glass, getting a game-high seven rebounds from freshman Kayla Robbins off the bench. Thome found junior Jillian Dunston out of the double team as U-M took its largest lead of the day to that point, 42-36, with 2:36 remaining in the third to force an SJU timeout after opening the period on a 13-6 run. Michigan s run was ignited by a Thompson triple with 8:54 on the clock and also featured four points from Flaherty, two from Thome and the Dunston layup. The only scoring the remainder of the quarter came courtesy of a free throw from Flaherty with 1:27 left in the period, sending U-M to the fourth with a lead. Thompson once again opened the scoring for Michigan in the period with a triple, before a layup from Flaherty pushed Michigan s lead into double figures for the first time in the game, 48-38, with 7:47 left. U-M s lead never dipped below double digits the rest of the way as U-M went 5-for-10 from the floor in the final 10 minutes and 5-for-8 from the free throw line. Postseason Play For the eighth straight season, the longest streak in program history, the Wolverines are making a postseason appearance. U-M has made a run to the semifinals of the WNIT in each of the last two seasons. U-M is 14-4 in postseason action under fifth-year head coach Kim Barnes Arico. Home Sweet Home Michigan has set a new program record for home wins, going 17-1 at Crisler Center this season. U-M is averaging 78.8 points per game on 46.6 percent shooting at home while holding opponents to 56.1 points per game on 37.3 percent shooting. Thompson Leaving Her Mark Senior Siera Thompson is leaving her mark at Michigan, becoming the career leader for games played with 138 after U-M s win over St. John s. She is already the program leader for minutes played at 4,643 and is now just two assists away from tying Anne Thorius (537) for the program record. Thompson is the only player in school history with 1,000 points, 400 rebounds and 500 assists. Williams Does the Little Things Senior Danielle Williams made her 100th consecutive appearance in U-M s win over St. John s (March 23). Williams went for four points, three rebounds, an assist and a steal in 33 minutes. She also took a charge in the open court to stop a fast break. Williams has appeared in 118 career games and is serving as a captain with Siera Thompson for the second straight season. Flaherty Named WBCA All-Region Again For the second consecutive season, junior Katelynn Flaherty was named to the WBCA All-Region 4 Team on Thursday (March 23). She is now eligible for the WBCA All-America team. Flaherty is the first Wolverine in school history to earn the All-Region honor twice in a career. The junior is guaranteed to earn All-America honorable mention by her selection to the all-region team. Thompson, Flaherty Combine for 500 Triples With a combined seven triples against Nebraska, senior Siera Thompson and junior Katelynn Flaherty became the first teammates in Big Ten history to combine for 500 three-pointers. Flaherty is first all-time at Michigan with 279 triples, with Thompson behind her in second at 237. They are the only teammates nationally right now to combine for 500 as well. New School Records Michigan has won 25 games this season, bettering the previous school record of 22 that was set in both and In addition, U-M has set new school records for home wins with 17 and three-pointers made with 259. Scouting Virginia Tech Virginia Tech (20-13) is coming off a win at Penn State on Thursday (March 23) to advance to the quarterfinals of the WNIT. The Hokies feature four double-figure scorers in Chanette Hicks (16.2 ppg), Regan Magarity (13.6 ppg, 9.6 rpg), Sidney Cook (13.0 ppg, 8.2 rpg) and Samantha Hill (10.5 ppg). VT is averaging 71.0 points per game on 40.4 percent shooting while allowing 67.4 points per game on 41.8 percent shooting. U-M is 2-0 alltime against Virginia Tech. New Way to Win Michigan has been known for its prolific offense the last few seasons, averaging 75.1 points per game since the season began. U-M flipped the script against St. John s, holding the Red Storm to just 10 second-half points on 5-for-26 shooting from the floor en route to a win. It was the fewest points scored by U-M in a win since recording a win at Wisconsin on Jan. 26, Flaherty Keeps Scoring Junior Katelynn Flaherty has continued her scoring ways this season, averaging 19.8 points per game on 43.6 percent shooting. She is up to 1,943 career points, ranking second all-time at U-M to Diane Dietz (2,076). Flaherty is now the sixth active player in the conference with 1,800 points and joins Ohio State s Kelsey Mitchell as the only juniors to reach that total. She now owns the top two scoring seasons in school history, setting the record last season with 774 points and totaling 672 points this season (2nd). Thome Anchors the Middle Sophomore Hallie Thome has anchored the middle for Michigan this season, averaging 15.5 points on 61.2 percent shooting to go with 7.2 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game. She has scored in double figures in all but two games and has six 20-point games this season. Thome became the third sophomore in school history to reach 1,000 points following her 23-point performance against Wright State (March 18). Her 526 points puts her at No. 7 on the single-season scoring list. Dunston Provides a Spark Junior Jillian Dunston has started all 34 games this season, averaging 5.6 points on 53.8 percent shooting and 7.5 rebounds in 28.0 minutes per game. She exploded for a career-best 15 points on 7-for-8 shooting at Illinois (Feb. 1) to go with four assists and seven boards. The junior has seven double-figure scoring games and has PAGE 3

4 PLAYER & TEAM NOTES grabbed at least six rebounds in 19 contests. She has two double-doubles on the season after going for 10 points and 10 rebounds at No. 11 Ohio State (Jan. 7). Dunston grabbed 12 rebounds against Michigan State (March 3), becoming the 23rd Wolverine in school history with at least 500 boards. Her 255 rebounds this season rank eighth on the single-season list. Third Place Finish For just the fourth time in school history, U-M finished with in the top three of the Big Ten standings with an 11-5 record. It was Michigan s highest finish since tying for third in Kysre Getting It Done Freshman Kysre Gondrezick became the first freshman in school history to earn All-Big Ten honors (first or second team) and was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week a school-record six times. She is averaging 14.9 points, 3.6 boards and 2.9 assists in 27.8 minutes per game. Gondrezick is eight points away from reaching the 500-point mark this season. She can become the third freshman to score 500 points in school history. Freshman Success Freshman Kysre Gondrezick has followed in the footsteps of successful freshmen at Michigan, turning in 14.9 points per game. She is fourth on the freshman scoring list at U-M with 492 points. Michigan has had a freshman score in double figures in each of the last three seasons in Siera Thompson (13.2), Katelynn Flaherty (14.3 ppg) and Hallie Thome (14.4 ppg). The four Wolverines account for four of the top six scoring seasons by a freshman in school history: No. 2 Thome (505), No. 3 Flaherty (499), No. 4 Gondrezick (492) and No. 6 Thompson (449). Sharp Shooting For the 10th time this season, the Wolverines shot at least 50 percent from the floor when they hit 52.5 percent of their shots at Illinois (Feb. 1). It was Michigan s third 50-percent shooting game in Big Ten play. On the season, U-M is second in the Big Ten and 10th nationally in field goal percentage at 46.7 percent. Michigan is shooting 39.3 percent from behind three-point range, which is fifth nationally. The Floor General Senior Siera Thompson leads Michigan in assists this season, handing out 160 for a 4.7 per game average. She became just the second Wolverine to top 500 assists and now has 535 to rank second all-time at Michigan. The California native has appeared in all 138 games (1st all-time) since she arrived in Ann Arbor, starting all but four of them. She is the first player in school history with 1,000 points, 500 assists and 400 rebounds. Munger Mania Sophomore Nicole Munger came off the bench and made a big impact in Michigan s win at Nebraska (Jan. 22), going for a season-high 18 points on 6-for- 9 shooting. She was 4-for-7 from three-point range, setting new career highs in makes and attempts. She played a season-high 25 minutes against Iowa (Feb. 5), going for seven points and two boards. Munger scored the game-winning layup for U-M with 20 seconds remaining before going for six points in 13 minutes at Purdue (Feb. 8). She followed that up with the first double-double of her career against Wisconsin (Feb. 12), going for 12 points and a career-best 10 boards. Cole, Johnson Out for Season Freshman Akienreh Johnson and senior Abby Cole will not play the remainder of the season. Johnson is out with a knee injury and Cole is out with a lower-leg injury. KBA Hits 100 Wins at Michigan Head coach Kim Barnes Arico is in her fifth season in Ann Arbor and already holds the distinction of the first head coach to record five straight 20-win seasons. She has 108 wins now in Ann Arbor and has moved into second place on the all-time list at U-M. Her.632 winning percentage is tops by a Michigan women s basketball coach. She is 16 wins away from becoming the all-time winningest coach at U-M. Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better! Sophomore Hallie Thome put up a career-high 37 points in Michigan s win at Wisconsin (Jan. 1), tying her for second on the single-game list at Michigan. Her mark did not last for long as junior Katelynn Flaherty turned in a career-high 38 points at Ohio State (Jan. 7). Diane Dietz, now a Deputy Commissioner with the Big Ten Conference, holds the single-game record with 45 points. Thompson Turns in Another (!) Double-Double Senior Siera Thompson turned in the second double-double of her career in Michigan s win over Ohio (Dec. 13), going for 10 points and a career-high 12 rebounds. It came on the heels of her first career double-double at San Diego State, when she recorded 11 points and 11 assists. She joins Shannon Smith and Carol Szczechowski as Wolverines with a point-assist double-double and a point-rebound double-double. 100-Point Games Michigan has reached the 100-point mark 15 times in school history, with five of those games happening under fifth-year head coach Kim Barnes Arico. Michigan opened the season with three straight 100-point games, the longest streak in school history. Junior Katelynn Flaherty spearheaded the run, scoring 17 points with six assists. Sophomore Hallie Thome had 12 points, freshman Kysre Gondrezick went for nine and junior Maria Backman chipped in five. Junior Jillian Dunston, senior Danielle Williams and senior Siera Thompson each scored three points to account for all 52 during the run. Familiar Faces Michigan s coaching staff has remained intact for the third straight season as Melanie Moore (fifth season), Megan Duffy (third season) and Joy McCorvey (fifth season) return alongside head coach Kim Barnes Arico. U-M s assistant coaches combined to score 4,107 points during their college careers. Captains Seniors Siera Thompson and Danielle Williams will serve as Michigan captains for the second consecutive season. Simple Enough...Just Score U-M is 39-5 under head coach Kim Barnes Arico when scoring at least 80 points. Flaherty Explodes for 38 points Junior Katelynn Flaherty found her scoring touch again in Michigan s contest at Ohio State (Jan. 7), scoring a career-best 38 points on 15-for-24 shooting and setting a new school record with eight three-pointers. All 38 of her points came from the floor as the junior did not attempt a free throw. It was the second-highest single-game total in school history behind the 45 points Diane Dietz totaled on Feb. 27, 1982 against Illinois. PAGE 4

24 Head Coach Kim Barnes Arico Fifth Year Montclair State, 93 Career W-L: Michigan W-L: Kim Barnes Arico enters her fifth season as head coach in , guiding the Wolverines to at least 20 wins in each of her first four seasons. She was announced as the ninth head coach in the 40-year history of the Wolverine women s basketball program on April 20, The only coach in program history with four 20-win seasons, Barnes Arico already ranks fourth in Michigan history with 83 wins and is tops in winning percentage at.606. She has led Michigan to the postseason in each of her four seasons, making the NCAA Tournament in 2013 and stringing together back-to-back WNIT Semifinal appearances in 2015 and Michigan is at home during the KBA era as U-M has won at least 13 home games in three of her four seasons. Barnes Arico completed a two-year stint with USA Basketball ( ), serving as an assistant coach alongside Dawn Staley (South Carolina) and Jeff Walz (Louisville) for the U18 (2014) and U19 (2015) teams. She won a pair of gold medals at the FIBA U19 World Championships in 2015 and at the FIBA U18 America s Championship in Michigan rewrote the offensive record book in , setting new school records in points (2,751), points per game (78.6), field goals made (1,058), field goal percentage (.478), three-point field goal percentage (.398) and assists (606). The Maize and Blue finished the season ranked fifth nationally in three-point field goal percentage, sixth in field goal percentage and 11th in points per game. U-M won 21 games, the second-best total in school history, while advancing to the semifinals of the WNIT. Katelynn Flaherty scored a school-record 774 points en route to become just the third Wolverine to earn consensus All-Big Ten first-team honors and the second to be named to the WBCA All-Region team. Hallie Thome, a Big Ten All-Freshman Team member, finished second nationally in field goal percentage (.630), while Siera Thompson dished out 178 assists for a new school record. Michigan went in and swept in-state rival Michigan State in the regular season for the first time since the campaign. Flaherty became the first Wolverine in school history to be named the Big Ten Sixth Player of the Year and was the first freshman to earn a spot on the all-freshman team since Cyesha Goree picked up her second straight All-Big Ten second-team nod and Nicole Elmblad completed her illustrious career by earning the Big Ten Medal of Honor, WNIT All-Tournament Team accolades and an Academic All-America third-team citation. U-M completed the season with a mark after making the third round of the WNIT. Goree led four players to garner All-Big Ten honors, as the junior forward was named to the second team by both the coaches and the media. Elmblad was also named the program s second-ever Academic All-American, earning a second-team nod. Barnes Arico picked up her 300th career victory in when the Wolverines defeated Southern, 83-59, on Dec. 20. Michigan went in Barnes Arico s first season, tying the mark for most wins in school history. The Wolverines earned their second straight NCAA Tournament bid and advanced to the second round for the first time since U-M was ranked as high as No. 22 in the Associated Press poll in January, the first time the Maize and Blue was listed in the poll since the season. The Wolverines tied the longest winning streak in school history during the season, winning 10 straight games from Dec. 1, 2012-Jan. 17, Senior Kate Thompson was named to the All-Big Ten second team after hitting a school-record 110 three-pointers and participating in the Allstate Three-Point Shootout. Fellow senior Jenny Ryan picked up All-Big Ten third-team honors, with seniors Nya Jordan and Rachel Sheffer earning honorable mention. The Wolverines finished tied for fifth in the Big Ten with a 9-7 record, reaching the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament. U-M defeated Michigan State, 70-69, during the Crisler Dedication weekend for its first win over the Spartans since the season. Prior to joining the Maize and Blue, she spent 10 seasons at the helm of the St. John s women s hoops program, building the Red Storm into a national power. She guided St. John s to four NCAA Tournament appearances, with the Red Storm advancing to the Sweet 16 in 2012 after back-to-back second-round appearances (2010, 11). The winningest women s basketball coach in St. John s history, Barnes Arico compiled a overall record and five 20-win campaigns. She was twice named Big East Coach of the Year (2006, 2012) and had 11 of her players earn All-Big East honors and six receive all-rookie team selection. In , St. John s posted a overall record and finished second (13-3) in the Big East standings. Barnes Arico was named the 2012 Big East Coach of the Year and was a finalist for the USBWA National Coach of the Year award. St. John s finished No. 15 in the final USA Today Coaches poll and reached its highest-ever ranking of No. 13 by the Associated Press (March 5, 2012). The highlight of the season was when Barnes Arico and her Red Storm ended Connecticut s 99-game home winning streak with a win on Feb. 19, 2012, at Gampel Pavilion. It was also the UConn s first home loss to an unranked opponent in nearly 19 years. Prior to accepting her position at St. John s, Barnes Arico was extremely successful in three seasons at NCAA Division II Adelphi ( ). She led the Panthers to three consecutive postseason appearances, posting a overall record and a league mark. She guided Adelphi to a 28-win season in , the year the program returned to the NCAA Tournament field for the first time since In , Adelphi won its first New York Collegiate Athletic Conference (NYCAC) championship and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. The Panthers finished with a 28-3 record and earned the school s first national ranking in school history, finishing No. 12. Barnes Arico was named the NYCAC, NIT/Metropolitan Basketball Writers Division II and Nassau County Sports Commission Outstanding Female Coach of the Year. In addition to her coaching responsibilities, Barnes Arico served as an assistant athletic director and was the academic liaison for student-athletes at Adelphi. She also served as a member of the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional Selection Committee and the ECAC Advisory Committee. Barnes Arico started her head coaching career at Fairleigh Dickinson-Madison, a Division III University in New Jersey. She led the Devils to a record during the season before accepting the head coaching post at New Jersey Institute of Technology for two seasons ( ). Helping the program transition from Division III to Division II, Barnes Arico was named the New Jersey Coach of the Year after taking the program from the five-win total in her first season to 11 victories in year two. A native of Mastic Beach, N.Y., Barnes Arico helped lead Stony Brook University to the 1989 NCAA Division III Tournament as a freshman. She spent her final three seasons at Montclair State University, serving as captain during her junior and senior seasons. Barnes Arico led the team to back-to-back ECAC Tournament appearances in 1991 and 1992 and was the team s leading scorer both seasons. A scholar-athlete award recipient, Barnes Arico graduated from Montclair State in 1993 with a bachelor s degree in physical education and health. Barnes Arico went into teaching after graduation, accepting a position as a physical education and health teacher at the Academy of Saint Aloysius in Jersey City, N.J., during the academic year. She left Saint Aloysius and moved into an identical position at Chatham High School from in Chatham, N.J.
