The Wolverines won the first game between the two, 74-48, at Crisler Center on Jan. 24. Michigan picked up its 20th win of the season in its win over Northwestern on Thursday (Feb. 8), giving Michigan its seventh straight 20-win season. It is the longest streak in program history. Prior to the current run, U-M had just three 20-win campaigns. The Wolverines, who are the only Big Ten team to have already played 13 conference games, only have three regular season games remaining the rest of February. Senior Katelynn Flaherty is now Michigan s career leading scorer with 2,637 points in her illustrious career - second-most among active NCAA Division I players. She is now fifth all-time in Big Ten history in scoring and second in three-pointers made (381). Michigan features three double-figure scorers in Katelynn Flaherty (23.8 ppg), Hallie Thome (17.0 ppg) and Nicole Munger (10.0 ppg). Flaherty is fifth nationally in scoring and Thome is sixth in the country in field goal percentage (.632). The duo combined for 61 points in Michigan s last game (Feb. 8), nearly outscoring Northwestern on their own (63-61). The win marked Michigan s 20th of the season, giving the Wolverines their seventh straight 20-win campaign. Flaherty missed her first four shots before catching fire in the second quarter, hitting five three-pointers in the period. Flaherty hit nine triples in the contest, the second-best single-game performance in school history, finishing with 36 points, four assists and two steals over 36 minutes. Thome scored 25 points on 8-for-12 shooting from the floor, while grabbing five boards and blocking four shots. Junior Nicole Munger turned in nine points and senior Jillian Dunston had seven points, 12 rebounds, five assists and a steal. Michigan outrebounded NU, 37-28, and shot nearly 50 percent from the floor (49.2). NU went on a 10-0 run to get within nine, 47-38, on a steal-and-score with 3:38 left in the third quarter. The Maize and Blue responded with six straight points of its own as Flaherty found Thome in transition, then made good on a pair of free throws before Munger scored in transition for a lead just over a minute later. In the fourth, Northwestern cut Michigan s lead to single digits, 57-49, after scoring the first four points of the period. Thome knocked down the first triple of her career on Michigan s ensuing possession, followed by a pair at the line to push Michigan s lead back to 13, 62-49, with 7:40 left. Michigan s lead never dipped below 10 points the rest of the way as Michigan outscored NU, 27-18, in the final 10 minutes to record the 21-point win. We Meet Again Michigan and Michigan State are meeting for the second time this season, completing Michigan s three home-and-home series during Big Ten action. Michigan went 2-0 against Northwestern and 1-1 against Ohio State in its two other double plays. U-M came away with a win over Michigan State on Jan. 24 in Ann Arbor. The Wolverines got 26 points from Katelynn Flaherty in that win, along with 13 from Nicole Munger and 10 from Hailey Brown. Getting to 20 Michigan picked up its 20th win of the season, marking the seventh straight 20-win campaign and 10th overall for the Wolverines. U-M s current streak of seven straight 20-win seasons - six coming under head coach Kim Barnes Arico - is the longest in school history. Prior to this current run that started in , Michigan had just three 20-win seasons in program history. The senior class of Jillian Dunston and Katelynn Flaherty has now tied the 2017 senior class of Siera Thompson and Danielle Williams as the winningest class in program history with 89 victories. Hot Shooting Michigan has found its shooting touch in its last 20 games, shooting over 50 percent nine times - including its first 60-percent showing since Nov. 23, 2015 after shooting 61.4 percent against Delaware State (Dec. 21). Michigan is now up to second in the Big Ten and ninth nationally in field goal percentage at.481. The Wolverines are also shooting 39.9 percent from behind the three-point line, good for second in the conference and eighth in the country. Simple Enough...Just Score U-M is 51-5 under head coach Kim Barnes Arico when scoring at least 80 points. Michigan has reached that mark 11 times this season. Staying in the Poll Michigan received its first preseason ranking in the Associated Press poll since 2001, coming in at No. 24 to begin the season. U-M has stayed in the poll since then, earning a No. 21 ranking this week (Feb. 5). Michigan s 14-week run in the poll is the longest streak in school history. Michigan made nine straight appearances from Nov. 6, 2001 through Jan. 7, Scouting Michigan State Michigan State (14-11, 4-8 B1G) has been hit with injuries lately, dropping its last six games. MSU features three double-figure scorers in Sidney Cooks (10.6 ppg), Branndais Agee (10.6 ppg) and Shay Colley (10.6 ppg). The Spartans are averaging 74.0 points per game on 42.6 percent shooting while allowing 66.0 points per game on 39.8 percent shooting. Michigan snapped a four-game skid to the Spartans the last time out. Flaherty Catches Fire Senior Katelynn Flaherty recorded her third 30-point game of the season and 13th of her career in Michigan s win over Northwestern (Feb. 8), scoring a season-high 36 points with nine three-pointers. Flaherty missed her first four shots from the field before going 12-for- 17 the rest of the way. She hit nine triples in the contest, the 27th time in her career she has hit at least five three-pointers in a single game. Flaherty holds the school record with 10 three-pointers in a contest, which she set against Penn State this season (Dec. 28). Before her, the record was seven three-pointers by Kate Thompson on Jan. 17, Flaherty has four games with seven-or-more triples in her career. Flaherty has made 381 three-pointers in her career, the most in Michigan history and second-most in Big Ten history. Brown Hits Her Stride Freshman Hailey Brown has hit her stride since returning from the holiday break in December, averaging 10.4 points and 5.2 rebounds in 26.8 minutes per game in Big Ten play. She has upped her shooting percentage to 48.2 percent in the last 13 games and has six double-figure scoring games in that span. Brown was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week and the USBWA Freshman of the Week this season. She is only the second freshman to be a full-time starter under sixth-year head coach Kim Barnes Arico, joining Hallie Thome. Dunston Hits the 800-Rebound Mark Senior Jillian Dunston grabbed 12 rebounds in Michigan s last game against Northwestern (Feb. 8), marking her 14th game this season with at least 10 boards. Thome also has 647 career rebounds, making her one of five players in school history with 1,500 points and 600 rebounds. She joins Trish Andrew, Stacey Thomas, Jennifer Smith and Abby Currier in that club. On the season, Thome has six double-doubles and is averaging 17.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game - both career highs for the lefty. Thome made the top 10 list for the Lisa Leslie Award, given to the nation s best center. Flaherty Keeps Scoring Senior Katelynn Flaherty continues to put her name in the Michigan and Big Ten record book. On the career front, Flaherty has officially become Michigan s career scoring leader after passing Diane Dietz in the last game. Dietz ( ) set the record with 2,076 points, which had stood since her graduation in Flaherty also passed Glen Rice s total of 2,442 and has is now the all-time leading scorer - man or woman - with 2,637 points. On the season, she is averaging 23.8 points per game, which is fifth nationally and third in the Big Ten. Flaherty has scored in double figures in all but one game this season and has point games. Flaherty is now second all-time in conference history with 381 triples. She also leads U-M in assists this season with 107 (4.2/game). KBA Gets 400 Head coach Kim Barnes Arico picked her up 400th career win in Michigan s win at Northwestern, becoming the seventh active Big Ten head coach to reach 400. KBA is Michigan s all-time wins leader with 131 and is still the winningest coach at St. John s with 176 victories. Her.655 winning percentage is tops in program history. Michigan s win over Northwestern marked KBA s 200th game at the helm in Ann Arbor. She joins Sue Guevara (205) and Bud VanDewege as coaches to hit that mark. Big Time Win Michigan picked up its first win this season over a ranked opponent the last time out, knocking off No. 8 Ohio State in Columbus on Jan. 16. It was just the fifth win over a top-10 team in program history and first since defeating No. 8 Ohio State on Jan. 7, All five of Michigan s top 10 wins have come against the No. 8-ranked team in the Associated Press poll. It was the first top-10 win for Michigan under head coach Kim Barnes Arico. Munger Mania! Junior Nicole Munger has proved to be a solid contributor in her first season as a full-time starter, averaging 10.0 points and 4.4 rebounds per game - both career highs. Munger is second on the team with 54 triples, hitting at a 43.5 percent clip - good for third in the Big Ten. Munger has scored in double figures in 14 games this season and had the first 20-point game of her career when she scored 20 points at Ohio State (Jan. 16). Dunston Does it All Senior Jillian Dunston has continued to do it all for the Wolverines, averaging a team-high 9.2 rebounds, 3.5 points and 3.8 assists per game. She has 14 games this season with at least 10 reboundss. Her 150 career steals puts her at No. 11 on the all-time list. Double-Double Times Two In Michigan s win over Illinois (Jan. 20), junior Hallie Thome (13 points, 11 rebounds) and freshman Hailey Brown (17 points, 14 rebounds) each recorded double-doubles. It was the first time since Nov. 14, 2014 that U-M had a pair of teammates each have a double-double. In that game against Detroit, Nicole Elmblad (10 points, 11 rebounds) and Cyesha Goree (10 points, 11 rebounds) each accomplished the feat. Thome now has six double-doubles on the season, with Brown checking in with three. Brown is second among Big Ten freshmen in double dips. Early Season Challenges in the Non-Conference Michigan faced its second top-five opponent of the season when it hosted No. 3 Notre Dame (Nov. 29). U-M had already faced Louisville, which was No. 5 at the time and now checks in at No. 4. It was the first time in program history that Michigan faced two top-five opponents in the non-conference portion of the season. Michigan also faced Marquette, a team that was ranked earlier in the season and receiving votes at the time of U-M s win. 100-Point Games Michigan has reached the 100-point mark 16 times in school history, with six of those games happening under sixth-year head coach Kim Barnes Arico. Michigan topped the 100-point mark for the first time this season in an win over Delaware State (Dec. 21). For the second time in program history, U-M took a trip overseas this past summer. Michigan got an extra 10 practices during the summer and spent 10 days in Italy (Rome, Pompeii and Sorrento) and Greece (Athens). The Wolverines went 3-0 on the trip and took in all Europe had to offer. PAGE 4

5 WOLVERINES SIGN NO. 11-RANKED CLASS ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women s basketball head coach Kim Barnes Arico announced the signing of Amy Dilk, Naz Hillmon, Emily Kiser, Danielle Rauch and Ariel Young to National Letters of Intent on Wednesday (Nov. 8). The quintet will join the Wolverines for the academic year and is the No. 11-ranked class by ESPN. Her brother, John, is currently a sophomore on the Valparaiso men s basketball team. Danielle Rauch 5-foot-8 Guard Cicero, N.Y. (Bishop Ludden) I think it is one of the best classes we have coming in since I have been here, from top to bottom, Barnes Arico said. It really targets each position that we need, one through five. These five young women are unbelievable basketball players, but they are even better people. They all come from great families, families who are basketball families. They each have a great understanding of the game and what it means to be part of a team. They know what it takes to be at the University of Michigan, on the court, in the classroom and in the community. They understand and embrace how special it is to be able to represent the Block M, not only while they are here, but also after they graduate. We have a lot of great talent in this group, but they want to create something special and win championships together. Amy Dilk 6-foot Guard Carmel, Ind. (Carmel) Dilk, a playmaking point guard, comes in at No. 39 by ESPN after averaging 14.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 3.2 steals per game as a junior at Carmel. A core member of the Indiana Junior All-Stars, Dilk led the Greyhounds to a 2017 sectional title, scoring a game-high 24 points in the championship game. Dilk recorded a triple-double as a junior, going for 10 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists against Center Grove. She was named to the Supreme 15 team for underclassmen by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association and helped Carmel to a top-10 ranking all season. She played AAU for the Indiana Flight Thunder. Rauch was named the 2017 All-CNY Girls Basketball Small School Player of the Year after averaging 17.9 points, 8.0 assists, 6.6 rebounds and 5.0 steals per game. She led Bishop Ludden to its first Section III Class B championship since 2006 and became the school s all-time leading scorer in the process; she enters her senior season with 1,484 career points. She also earned a spot on the all-state first team following her junior season. A three-star recruit by ESPN, she played AAU for I-90 Elite. Her father, Len, played for Michigan men s basketball head coach John Beilein at Le Moyne. Ariel Young 6-foot-1 Guard Tallahassee, Fla. (Lincoln) The first member of the class to commit, Young is ranked No. 96 by ESPN and is an athletic guard who can impact the game on both ends of the floor. During her junior season at Lincoln, she averaged 10.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. She was named the MVP of the Destin Holiday Classic and was named to the All-Big Bend second team. She played AAU for Central Florida Elite of the EYBL. Her mother, Carolyn, was a two-time All-American at Auburn, played for the Portland Fire of the WNBA and was a member of the 1992 US Olympic Team. Her father, C.Y., is an assistant coach for the Florida State men s basketball team. Naz Hillmon 6-foot-2 Forward Cleveland, Ohio (Gilmour Academy) Hillmon was named the Associated Press Division III Player of the Year last season after helping Gilmour Academy to the Ohio state championship, where she recorded 24 points and 17 rebounds in the title game. She averaged 15.8 points and 13.1 rebounds per game while topping the 1,000-point mark in her career as a junior. She was named the Division III Northeast Lakes All-District Player of the Year for the second straight season and was a finalist for Ms. Basketball. Hillmon was a finalist for the 2016 USA Basketball U17 World Championship team (2016) and is a four-star recruit (No. 57 by ESPN). She played AAU for Sports City U. Her mother, Nasheema, played basketball at Vanderbilt and in the American Basketball League (ABL) for the Nashville Noise. Emily Kiser 6-foot-2 Forward/Center Noblesville, Ind. (Noblesville) Kiser was named to the Indiana Junior All-Star team after averaging 19.6 points and 11.6 rebounds per game as a junior. Ranked No. 86 by ESPN, she was named to the Supreme 15 team for underclassmen by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association after her junior season. To start her senior campaign, she put together a 16-point, 15-rebound performance in her first game, followed by a 26-point, 17-rebound game in the next contest. 22 Head Coach Kim Barnes Arico Sixth Year Montclair State, 93 Career W-L: Michigan W-L: Kim Barnes Arico enters her sixth season as the head coach in , guiding the Wolverines to at least 20 wins in each of her five seasons and the 2017 WNIT Championship. She was announced as the ninth head coach in the history of the program on April 20, Barnes Arico enters the season on the cusp of becoming the winningest coach in school history after totaling 111 wins through five seasons. The only coach in program history to have five 20-win seasons, KBA needs just 13 wins to pass Sue Guevara (123 wins) for first on the all-time list. Barnes Arico is first all-time at Michigan in winning percentage (.638) and holds a record at Crisler Center during her tenure. U-M has won at least 13 games at Crisler in four of her five seasons, including a record-setting 19 wins in Barnes Arico compiled a overall record and five 20-win campaigns at St. John s. She was twice named Big East Coach of the Year (2006, 2012) and had 11 of her players earn All-Big East honors and six receive all-rookie team selection. In , St. John s posted a overall record and finished second (13-3) in the Big East standings. Barnes Arico was named the 2012 Big East Coach of the Year and was a finalist for the USBWA National Coach of the Year award. St. John s finished No. 15 in the final USA Today Coaches poll and reached its highest-ever ranking of No. 13 by the Associated Press. The highlight of the season was when Barnes Arico and her Red Storm ended Connecticut s 99-game home winning streak with a win on Feb. 19, 2012, at Gampel Pavilion. It was also the UConn s first home loss to an unranked opponent in nearly 19 years. KBA has coached 10 players to 14 All-Big Ten citations, including two-time All-Big Ten first teamer Katelynn Flaherty. Flaherty has also earned back-toback WBCA All-America honorable mentions (2016, 2017) as the only player in school history with multiple honors. Barnes Arico was named the 2017 Big Ten Coach of the Year by the coaches and media, becoming the first consensus winner in school history. Nicole Elmblad also earned back-toback Academic All-America honors (2014, 2015) and was the recipient of the Medal of Honor in Barnes Arico also completed a two-year stint with USA Basketball ( ), serving as an assistant coach alongside Dawn Staley (South Carolina) and Jeff Walz (Louisville) for the U18 (2014) and U19 (2015) teams. She won a pair of gold medals at the FIBA U19 World Championships in 2015 and at the FIBA U18 America s Championship in Barnes Arico led Michigan to its first postseason championship in as the Wolverines captured the WNIT Championship after being left out of the NCAA Tournament despite a third place finish in the Big Ten. Michigan went 11-5 in conference play to finish alone in third place, its highest finish since 2011 and the second-most Big Ten wins in program history. Flaherty and Hallie Thome each earned All-Big Ten first-team honors to mark the first time U-M had multiple first teamers. The Wolverines regrouped during the WNIT, reeling off six straight wins for the title. U-M held off Georgia Tech in three overtimes in the championship game to hang its first banner in Crisler. U-M shattered records in , setting new program records in wins (28), points (2,846), home wins (19), winning percentage (.756), three-pointers made (279) and rebounds (1,403). Flaherty became the second player in school history to top 2,000 points (2,019) and Thome became the third sophomore to reach the 1,000-point mark (1,105). Michigan has made the postseason in each of Barnes Arico s five seasons, highlighted by a second round appearance in the NCAA Tournament during the season. U-M has found itself back in the national spotlight as well during KBA s tenure, returning to the Associated Press poll in January 2013 for the first time in 10 years. Michigan has been ranked six times in the AP poll and four times in the coaches poll over the last five years. Prior to accepting her position at St. John s, Barnes Arico was extremely successful at NCAA Division II Adelphi ( ). She led the Panthers to three consecutive postseason appearances, posting a overall record and a league mark. In , Adelphi won its first New York Collegiate Athletic Conference (NYCAC) championship and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. The Panthers finished with a 28-3 record and earned the school s first national ranking in school history, finishing No. 12. Barnes Arico was named the NYCAC, NIT/Metropolitan Basketball Writers Division II and Nassau County Sports Commission Outstanding Female Coach of the Year. Barnes Arico started her head coaching career at Fairleigh Dickinson-Madison, a Division III university in New Jersey. She led the Devils to a record during the season before accepting the head coaching post at New Jersey Institute of Technology for two seasons ( ). Helping the program transition from Division III to Division II, Barnes Arico was named the New Jersey Coach of the Year after taking the program from the five-win total in her first season to 11 victories in year two. A native of Mastic Beach, N.Y., Barnes Arico helped lead Stony Brook University to the 1989 NCAA Division III Tournament as a freshman. She spent her final three seasons at Montclair State University, serving as captain during her junior and senior seasons. Barnes Arico led the team to back-to-back ECAC Tournament appearances in 1991 and 1992 and was the team s leading scorer both seasons. A scholar-athlete award recipient, Barnes Arico graduated from Montclair State in 1993 with a bachelor s degree in physical education and health. Barnes Arico went into teaching after graduation, accepting a position as a physical education and health teacher at the Academy of Saint Aloysius in Jersey City, N.J., during the academic year. She left Saint Aloysius and moved into an identical position at Chatham High School from in Chatham, N.J. Barnes Arico and her husband, Larry Arico, are the parents of a son, Trevor, and daughters Emma and Cecelia. Prior to joining the Maize and Blue, she spent 10 seasons at the helm of the St. John s women s hoops program, building the Red Storm into a national power.
