The Falcons played in their first Mountain West Championship and qualified for its 25th bowl game. Air Force took on Pac-12 member California in the Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas. The Falcons have earned a bowl bid eight times in head coach Troy Calhoun s nine seasons. Air Force s 18 wins in tie as the third most in consecutive seasons in Air Force history. The seasons mark the seventh time in Air Force history the program has combined for 18 wins in consecutive seasons. The Falcons trailed only 10:19 overall at home, all coming vs. Fresno State. Junior defensive back Weston Steelhammer was on two national watch lists this season. Steelhammer is on the Jim Thorpe Award Watch List, given annually to the nation s top defensive back. He was also on the Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List which is based on both athletic ability and character attributes. Junior wide receiver Jalen Robinette was on the 2015 Fred Biletnikoff Award Watch List. Robinette joins five others from the Mountain West. The Biletnikoff Award is given annually to the most outstanding receiver in college football. Senior defensive lineman Alex Hansen was on the 2015 Lombardi Award Watch List. Air Force had seven players named to the all-mountain West football team. The Falcons had four players named to the first team, one second-team honoree and two honorable mention selections. Capt. Jared Tew, a 2011 Academy graduate, was a three-year letterman and two-year starter. Tew led Air Force to a record, while rushing for 1,897 yards and 17 touchdowns on 416 carries in his career. In 2009, he was named Second Team All-Mountain West after rushing for a team-leading 970 yards, which ranked third in the conference. He earned a B.S. in Business Management from Air Force in 2011, and he has served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force since graduation. Tew was ranked as the No. 1 wingman in the 35th Fighter Squadron during a one-year deployment at the Kunsan Air Base in Korea. The Silver Anniversary Award annually recognizes distinguished individuals on the 25th anniversary of the conclusion of their college athletics careers. Representatives of NCAA member schools Air Force Football 2

3 and conferences, along with a panel of former student-athletes, select each year s recipients. The 2015 recipients are Abby Cheng, Chris Howard, Jo-Juneau, Russell Maryland, Dikembe Mutombo, and Steve Smith. The NCAA will recognize the honorees at the Honors Celebration during the 2016 NCAA Convention on Jan. 15 in San Antonio. While in college, Chris Howard excelled on the football team, leading the U.S. Air Force Academy to back-to-back bowl games in 1989 and 1990, including an upset victory over The Ohio State University in the 1990 Liberty Bowl. His academic achievements were equally impressive, including two Academic All-America honors, an NCAA postgraduate scholarship and the 1990 Vincent DePaul Draddy Trophy (now known as the Campbell Trophy), which is the highest academic award in college football. He also earned a Rhodes Scholarship in 1991, and went on to earn a master s degree with distinction from Harvard Business School and a doctorate at Oxford University. He became an Air Force lieutenant colonel and served in Afghanistan in 2003, where he was awarded the Bronze Star. While on active duty, Howard served as an intelligence operations and plans officer with the elite Joint Special Operations Command. He currently serves as president at Hampden-Sydney College, which has improved 17 places in the U.S. News and World Report collegiate rankings under his leadership. Howard is on the NCAA Division III Presidents Council. He is a member of the national council of advisors to the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress, and a member of Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe s Commission to Ensure Integrity and Public Confidence in State Government. AIR FORCE HAS HIGHEST GSR IN MW, AMONG SERVICE ACADEMIES The Air Force football program has a graduation success rate of 87, according to the latest date released by the NCAA. The Falcons have the highest GSR in the Mountain West and among the three service academies. The score is the 10th best in the nation. The football program (980) was honored for being in the top 10 percent of their sports for all NCAA programs in Division I for APR. Air Force head coach Troy Calhoun also earned a 985 coaches APR mark which marks his eighth consecutive year above the national average for Division I programs. Air Force is using season-long team captains for the second consecutive season. THREE FALCONS ON WATCH LISTS Junior defensive back Weston Steelhammer was on two national watch lists this season. Steelhammer is on the Jim Thorpe Award Watch List, given annually to the nation s top defensive back. He was also on the Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List which is based on both athletic ability and character attributes. Junior wide receiver Jalen Robinette was on the 2015 Fred Biletnikoff Award Watch List. Robinette joins five others from the Mountain West. The Biletnikoff Award is given annually to the most outstanding receiver in college football. Senior defensive lineman Alex Hansen was on the 2015 Lombardi Award Watch List. Eligibility for the Rotary Lombardi Award is limited to down linemen, end-to-end, either on offense or defense, who set up no farther than 10 yards to the left or right of the ball, or linebackers who set up no farther than five yards deep from the line of scrimmage. AIR FORCE HAS SEVEN EARN ALL-MOUNTAIN WEST HONORS Air Force had seven players named to the all-mountain West football team. The Falcons had four players named to the first team, one second-team honoree and two honorable mention selections. Senior defensive lineman Alex Hansen and senior offensive lineman Sevrin Remmo, along with junior defensive backs Weston Steelhammer and Roland Ladipo were selected to the first team. Senior offensive lineman A.J. Ruechel was a second-team selection while junior running back Jacobi Owens and junior receiver Jalen Robinette were named honorable mention. ROBINETTE MOVING UP Junior receiver Jalen Robinette led the team in receiving yards with 641 and was second in catches with 26. He averaged a team-best 24.7 yards per reception which is the second-best single-season mark in Air Force history. He trails only Craig Hancock s 31.0 mark set in Robinette had two catches for 79 yards and a 67-yard TD catch at Boise State. He had one of the best days in school history in Air Force s win over Utah State Nov. 14. Robinette had career highs with seven receptions and 210 receiving yards. His 210 yards are the most-ever in the option era (1980-present), the third-most overall in school history and most since He hauled in a 74- yard touchdown catch which is the 12th longest in school history and longest since air force rushing Air Force won the Mountain West rushing title and and ranked fourth nationally in rushing with a average. Robinette has hit three of five passes for 130 yards and three TDs in his career. STEELHAMMER RANKS FIFTH IN AF HISTORY Junior Weston Steelhammer led the Falcons in tackles with 80 and interceptions with five. He finished third on the team in tackles for loss with 10.5 and second in pass breakups with seven. The first-team all-mountain West junior safety recorded his fifth interception at New Mexico. The interception is the 11 of his career which ties for fifth in school history. Steelhammer has 14 career turnovers (11 INT, 3 FR). Steelhammer had six tackles and his first interception of the season vs. San Jose State. He also recorded a career-best 3.0 tackles for loss, including a sack. He finished second on the team in tackles with 79 overall and has a sack and 4.5 tackles for loss. He was second on the team in interceptions with three. Ladipo led the conference and ranked 17th nationally in pass breakups with 17 and recorded a career-best four at Boise State. Ladipo had a career-best 12 tackles and a tackle for loss at Colorado State. He had his first-career pick in the season opening win over Morgan State, returning it 22 yards for the first touchdown of his career. SENIOR GARRETT BROWN Senior WR/KR Garrett Brown led the team with 27 catches and was second in receiving yards with 557. He averaged 20.6 yards per catch and rushed for 259 yard and a touchdown. In addition, he averaged 9.3 yards per punt return. Brown led the Falcons in rushing and receiving against Navy, rushing for 45 yards on nine carries and catches three passes for 64 yards. He also had one punt return for 15 yards. He rushed for a career-best 78 yards and scored on a career-long 63 yard run vs. San Jose State. Brown had a career-high 180 all-purpose yards in Air Force s win over Morgan State with three carries for 38 yards and a team-best two catches for 58 yards. He had a career-high 83 yards on two punt returns, including a 75 yard punt return for a touchdown. ROBERTS SETS SCHOOL RECORD IN WIN OVER BOISE STATE Senior quarterback Karson Roberts hit 9-16 passes for a career-high 279 yards and two touchdowns at Boise State. Roberts set a school record for most passing yards in consecutive conference games with 550. The total is the fourth-best overall in Air Force history. He connected on passes for 271 yards the previous week vs. Utah State. He also had a 74-yard completion vs. Utah State which is the 12th longest in school history. 9 Roberts hit 6-of-16 passes for 167 yards and a career-best three touchdowns at New Mexico. He connected on a career-long 75 yard touchdown pass which is the 11th longest in school history and longest since Roberts hit 26-of-49 passes for 717 yards with six touchdowns in the three-game stretch which is an average of 239 yards per game. He has hit passes for 1,446 yards and nine touchdowns on the season. He is also second on the team in rushing with 674 yards and nine touchdowns. OWENS MOVING UP THE CHARTS Junior Jacobi Owens went over the 1,000-yard mark for the season and the 2,000-yard mark for his career at San Diego State. Owens rushed for a season-high 156 yards on 17 carries and recorded a career-long run of 65 yards. Owens led the team and ranked eighth in the conference in rushing with 1,096 yards. He is just the fourth player in Air Force history with two 1,000-yard seasons. He joins Beau Morgan (1995, 96), Dee Dowis (1987, 89) and Asher Clark (2010, 11). Owens became the 11th player in school history to go over the 2,000-yard mark for his career. He ranks 11th in school history with 2,150 yards. Owens moved to fullback the last eight weeks due to injuries and responded with an average of 99.0 yards rushing per game. Strebel took over the punting duties during the New Mexico game and had three punts for a 46.3 average with a then-long of 49 on his first-career punt. He added a career-long punt of 52 yards at San Diego State and averaged 40.0 yards per punt. Strebel hit a career-best three field goals, including a long of 45 yards in the final two minutes to seal the game at Boise State.
