Saturday (3 p.m.), the Lady Hornets will take on host UNLV (2-2), followed by a Sunday (3 p.m. or 5:30 p.m.) contest against the winner or loser of Northern Illinois (1-3) and South Dakota State (2-2).» THE OPPONENTs After opening the season with back-to-back wins, the Lady Rebels (2-2, 0-0 Mountain West) have dropped their last two with losses to Missouri and Hawaii last week. Leading the offensive charge for UNLV is guard Danielle Miller, who sits 20th (23.3 ppg) in the country in scoring. Also, averaging in double figures in the scoring column is forward Alana Cesarz (14.8 ppg), while UNLV s top rebounder is center Aley Rohde (8.8 rpg). The Huskies (1-3, 0-0 MAC) enter the weekend on a three-game skid since defeating Illinois State at home in their season-opener. In its most recent defeat, which came at Eastern Illinois, NIU s Amanda Corral poured in a game-high 24 points (8-of-12) off the bench, in what was her first game of the season. Leading the squad in rebounds (7.8 rpg) and sitting third in scoring (9.8 ppg) is guard Ally Lehman. To open the season, the defending regular season Summit League champions came away with a convincing victory at BYU. So far in , SDSU (2-2, 0-0 Summit League) has three players averaging in double figures, led by guard/forward Megan Waytashek (16.5 ppg). Waytashek is also SDSU s leader in 3-pointers made (11), whereas forward Mariah Clarin sits second (12.3 ppg) in scoring and is tied for the team in rebounds with center Clarissa Ober (6.8 rpg).» THE COACH Kathy Oliver is in her seventh season at the helm for the Lady Rebels. A graduate of UNLV, Oliver has posted an record, headlined by a (10-4 Mountain West) in Kathi Bennett is in her fifth season the NIU women s basketball program. Throughout her tenure, she holds a overall mark, including three MAC Tournament wins. Aaron Johnson is in 15th season with the Lady Jackrabbits. Last season, he was named Summit League Coach of the Year, after leading SDSU to overall record and 13-1 finish in league action. 3 DSU Women s Basketball Game 6-7 Nov A WIN WOULD MEAN» DSU s first two-game winning streak since beating Wesley and Morgan State last season.» The Lady Hornets first victories over UNLV, NIU or SDSU.» Delaware State s first road wins of the season. LAST TIME OUT DSU fell on Wednesday at Mount St. Mary s. At game s end, guard Raven Bankston finished with 23 points (9-of-20), including knocking down a career-high five 3-pointers. As a team, the Lady Hornets were outrebounded 44-31, in addition to only getting to the free throw line four times. COMING HOME Guard Jade Washington returns to her hometown this weekend with DSU taking part in UNLV s Lady Rebel Round-Up. Washington, who attended Liberty High School, was a two-time Team Most Valuable Player, in addition to earning Team Defensive Player of the Year honors. She also led her squad to two Sunrise Region and Southeast Division Championships as four-year varsity standout. HOT ON ONE END, COLD ON THE OTHER So far in , the Lady Hornets are third (73.0 ppg) in the MEAC in scoring with guard Raven Bankston (22.0 ppg) leading the conference in scoring and forward Tierra Hawkins sitting fourth (20.2 ppg), respectively. However, DSU ranks 12th in scoring defense giving up 82 points per contest and allowing opponents to shoot 43 percent (134-of-313) from the fiel d. DOUBLE TROUBLE DOWN LOW Despite DSU s loss to Binghamton, forwards Tierra Hawkins and Amber Bogard showed a sign of things to come for the Lady Hornets frontline with both players recording double-doubles. For the season, DSU s tandem down low has notched a team-high two double-doubles, whereas Hawkins is second on the team in points (21.8) and first in rebounds (7.8) per game. Bogard, who sat out last year after spending two seasons ( ) at Eastern Michigan, leads the Lady Hornets in blocks (6) and sits second in rebounding (6.6 rpg). Scoring wise, she is one of three players on the team averaging in double figures (12.6 ppg). WHAT A SEASON FOR RAVEN In as a freshman, guard Raven Bankston earned All-MEAC Third Team and All-Rookie Team recognition, in addition to being named MEAC Player of the Week three times and Rookie of the Week on five different occasions. Scoring wise, she finished second in the conference and 25th in the nation (21.3 ppg), while also setting a new DSU single-season scoring record (595). In DSU s overtime victory over Howard, she poured in a season-high 38 points (14-of-32), which was the third most in team single-game history. FEAR THE HAWK Senior Tierra Hawkins, who missed 14 games in , including the final 12 due to a season-ending shoulder injury, is aiming to continue her dominance as one of the best post players in the conference. Before going down, the forward out of Clinton, Md., was one of eight players in the country averaging 20+ points and 10+ rebounds per game, along with finishing as DSU s leader in double-doubles (8) and earning MEAC Player of the Week twice. 5 DSU Women s Basketball Game 6-7 Nov MEAC Rookie of the Year ranks in the top 10 on DSU s all-time list for most points, rebounds and blocks. FLOOR-GENERAL WASHINGTON Leading the Lady Hornets in assists the past two seasons, senior Jade Washington set a new DSU single-season mark with 126 in , along with finishing second on the team in steals (45). Last season for Washington also featured a career-high 12 assists dished out in DSU s win over Wesley, which tied a team single-game record. Career wise, Washington is fifth all-time for most assists in school history with 243. SISTER, SISTER Highly touted twin sisters, Raine Bankston and Raven Bankston, head into their second seasons aiming to turn heads. For Raven, she finished second in the MEAC and 25th in nation in scoring (21.3 ppg) on her way to earning All-MEAC Third Team and All-Rookie Team honors. Raine, on the other hand, season abruptly ended with a knee injury suffered in practice in preparation for DSU s game against George Mason in early December. In five starts, she averaged 7.6 points, 3.6 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. Coming out of high school, both ranked among the top 20 players in Michigan and helped lead John Glenn High School to city and district championships as seniors. In a game during their high school careers, they combined for 75 points. MIDWEST FEEL The Delaware State women s basketball team features five players from the Midwest region of the country. Guards Raine Bankston (Detroit), Raven Bankston (Detroit) and Aliah Stinnett (Burton) all hail from Michigan, whereas forward Amber Bogard and Mikah Aldridge reside in Cleveland, Ohio. Head coach Tamika Louis, meanwhile, is a native of Flint, Mich. HORNETS TABBED TO FINISH 12TH IN THE MEAC, RAV. BANKSTON GETS SECOND TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE NOD The Delaware State Lady Hornets were picked to finish 12th (89 points) and guard Raven Bankston receiving Second Team All-MEAC recognition. Earning the top nod was North Carolina A&T, totaling 329 points and receiving 15 first-place votes. Last year, the Lady Aggies were the regular season conference runners-up, finishing with a 13-3 MEAC mark and 24-7 overall record. Hampton, the five-time defending MEAC Tournament and regular season champions, was picked to finish second with 309 points and five first-place votes. The Lady Pirates finished last season with a 28-5 overall mark and 16-0 record in MEAC play on their way to a 13th seed in the NCAA Tournament.

6 DSU Women s Basketball Game 6-7 Nov Rounding out of the rest of the predicted order of finish were Savannah State (256 points), Coppin State (253 points), Howard (198 points), Florida A&M (175 points), Bethune-Cookman (160 points), Norfolk State (152 points), UMES (137 points), North Carolina Central (122 points), South Carolina State (110 points) and Morgan State (79 points). Crowned as the Player of the Year, meanwhile, was Savannah State s Ezinne Kalu. RETURNERS Topping the list of returnees for DSU, along with Raven Bankston, Tierra Hawkins and Jade Washington are guards Raine Bankston and N Kayah Kersey. Rai. Bankston, who started the first five games before suffering a season-ending knee injury, averaged 7.6 points, 3.6 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 steals per contest. Kersey, on the other hand, led the Lady Hornets in 3-pointers made (33) as the only returning player to appear in all 29 games last season. being selected as one of the Top 40 Student-Athletes in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Freshmen wise, DSU features center Janay Carter will look provide depth in the frontcourt, after sitting out last season because of a knee injury. In the backcourt, guards Mikah Aldridge, Bri Justice, Nateyah McLeod and Aliah Stinnett aim to make a significant impact, despite a logjam at the position. TOUGH ROAD AHEAD The schedule for the Lady Hornets are headlined by 19 out of their 31 games played away from Memorial Hall, including a seasonlong seven-game road trip (Nov Dec. 30). The longest home stretch for DSU this season will be a threegame swing (Jan Jan. 19). Providing depth and length in the frontcourt is sophomore Mi Queara Lewis, who appeared in 26 games, including 14 starts. FRESH FACES Leading the way for the newcomers are upperclassmen Amber Bogard and Nikkei Blackburn. Both listed as forwards, Bogard sat out last year after transferring from Eastern Michigan, where she was a two-year letterwinner. Blackburn, meanwhile, comes to DSU from the junior college ranks by way of South Georgia Tech. Last season, she led the nation in rebounds (13.4 rpg), in addition to

7 DSU Women s Basketball Game 6-7 Nov HEAD COACH TAMIKA LOUIS Lou Hamilton Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator Fayetteville State 85 First Season Lou Hamilton joined the DSU women s basketball staff in August of 2014 as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. Previously, Hamilton spent two seasons at Grambling State as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator under Patricia Cage-Bibbs in his first year, followed by an interim head coaching stint in year two. With the Tigers, he developed Joanna Miller, who went on to earn First Team All-SWAC and All-SWAC Tournament Team honors in , in addition to being named the conference s Newcomer of the Year. As the head coach, GSU jumped from ninth in the conference standings in year one to seventh the following season with an (7-11 SWAC) mark. Hamilton is also no stranger to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. For two seasons ( , ), he served under Cage-Bibbs at North Carolina A&T as the practice and recruiting coordinator. Jaresha Obey Assistant Coach Rochester College 07 First Season Jaresha joined the DSU women s basketball program as an assistant coach in August of Before coming to Delaware State, she spent four years at Rochester College (Mich.), where she was an assistant coach women s basketball coach and admissions recruiter. Additionally, she implemented and ran the summer conditioning program for student-athletes, while also serving as the defensive coordinator for both teams and recruiting coordinator for the freshman and sophomore women s basketball development team. Throughout her tenure with the Warriors, she spearheaded a defensive attack that ranked third in the NAIA in points allowed per game and 10th in field goal percentage during her first season. As the recruiting coordinator, meanwhile, Obey inked over 15 student-athletes, in addition to developing notable players such as Ke ala Ka aikala during her first two seasons, who earned First Team All-American Honors (USCAA). Obey also helped the Warriors to one national championship appearance and two Final Four appearances (USCAA). Her experience also includes spending two seasons coaching AAU for Greg Grant Basketball Club (Mich.), whereas interning for the Palace of Auburn Hills, home of the NBA s Detroit Pistons, doing brand marketing, organizing advertising promotions and athletic programs for the youth and the Year- Round Hoops Program. Educationally, Jaresha received her bachelor s degree in Sports Management in 2007 from Rochester College, as she is currently in the process of obtaining her master s degree in Sports Management from Wayne State University. Jaresha also serves as a Commissioned Officer in the Air Force (Air National Guard). Family wise, she has three siblings in Moni (brother), Paulus II (brother) and Javae (sister), while her parents are Janel and Paulus. Third Season at DSU Record: (9-23 MEAC) A new era began on Thursday, May 31, 2012 for the Delaware State University women s basketball team as President Harry L. Williams introduced Tamika L. Louis, a former championship junior college head coach and Division I assistant coach, as the new head coach. Year two under Louis, the Lady Hornets were hit hard on the injury front to finish at 8-21 (3-13 MEAC). Notable non-conference wins for DSU, however, were victories at Manhattan (80-69) and a overtime triumph over the Atlantic 10 s George Mason. Earning yearly honors was guard Raven Bankston receiving MEAC Third Team and All-Rookie Team recognition. Additionally, Bankston s teambest 21.3 points per game was not only good for second in the conference and 25th in the nation, but her 595 points set a new DSU single-season scoring record. In her first season, the Lady Hornets finished overall, including 6-10 in MEAC action to earn the ninth seed in the conference tournament. Nevertheless, DSU took down the eighthseeded Bethune-Cookman Wildcats in the opening round, 55-44, to snap a five-year MEAC tournament skid. Meanwhile, forward Tierra Hawkins was able to garner Second Team All-MEAC honors by leading the Lady Hornets in scoring (17.1 ppg) and rebounding (7.4 rpg). Louis arrived at Delaware State with 14 years of coaching and recruiting experience on the NCAA Division I, Junior College and high school levels. Before accepting the position at DSU, she served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator during the season at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. As the Lady Hornets head coach, I will be a servant-leader and hope that my energy, dedication and work ethic will be infectious to the young ladies on the team. From , Louis was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for St. John s University, where she was in charge of organizing all recruiting initiatives, game scouting, overseeing player academic progress and of-court mentoring. Additionally, she was responsible for the development of the Red Storm guards, including Second Team All-Big East and Freshman All- American Shennieka Smith. Prior to her time at SJU, Louis served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the University of Illinois from where she was instrumental in signing the No. 2 and No. 3 ranked players in the 2009 class in the country, according to ESPN Hoop Girl and Blue Star rankings, in All-Americans Destiny Williams and Karisma Penn. From , she was the head women s basketball coach at Mott Community College in Flint, Mich., where she led her squad to a overall record during her tenure.
