Feb. 22 Iowa State 2 p.m. Where: Ames, Iowa UPCOMING EVENTS March 7-8 Big Ten Championships Where: Columbus, Ohio B1G COMPETITION X No. 16 Wisconsin (9-3 overall, 7-2 Big Ten) sits seventh in the Big Ten standings. The Badgers are (75 percent) overall. Iowa leads the Big Ten with Minnesota and Ohio State right behind. Ten of 14 teams in the conference appear in the USA Today/NWCA Division I Coaches Poll Top 25. THE WEEK AHEAD X The Badgers travel to Ames, Iowa to close out dual competition for the season. X After the Iowa State dual, it s all about the Big Ten Championships. Wisconsin and the rest of the Big Ten will head to Columbus, Ohio for the tournament during the first weekend in March. LAST TIME OUT X No. 16 Wisconsin took on No. 21 Rutgers in the final home dual of the season. The dual ended with an tie, each team having five match wins. Under third criteria, the extra point goes to the team with the most individual points. Wisconsin outreached Rutgers to win the tiebreaker. X The then-no. 9 Ryan Taylor made a 17-3 major decision over No. 18 Scott DelVecchio. Frank Cousins, Ricky Robertson and No. 3 Connor Medbery all won by decision. The then No. 3 Isaac Jordan markeda 19-4 technical fall to put the Badgers within tying range of Rutgers. X The Badgers headed to Champaign, Illinois on Sunday to take on the Fighting Illini. The dual was packed with ups and downs, but ended in a loss for Wisconsin in the last conference dual of the season. X No. 7 Ryan Taylor pulled a major upset in his 23-5 technical fall over No. 3 Zane Richards. The then-no. 3 Connor Medbery notched a 13-0 major decision versus Brooks Black. X No. 20 Ricky Robertson defeated Nikko Reyes in a 4-2 sudden victory decision. No. 3 Isaac Jordan also won by decision, 5-1, over No. 8 Jackson Morse, moving himself to a 12-0 dual record. CHECKING OUT THE COMPETITION X The Badger will travel to No. 8 Iowa State to conclude dual competition for the season. The Cyclones met up with a conference opponenet, the West Virginia Mountaneers, away on Saturday, February 7. They were victorious with a decisive 29-7 final score. Iowa State is now 10-2 (83 percent) overall and 2-1 in the Big 12. Last weekend, Iowa State hosted Arizona State and Northern Iowa. The Cyclones won both duals, 26-7 and 24-12, respectively. X At 184 lbs., Lelund Weatherspoon marked a pin at 2:15 against West Virginia s Bubba Scheffel. Gabe Moreno (149 lbs.) and Tanner Weatherman (174 lbs.) both tallied major decisions to finish highlighting the competition. X Three wrestlers from Iowa State have been Big Twelve Wrestlers of the Week during the season up to this point. Kyven Gadson got the honor on December 8 and Tanner Weatherman received it January 19. Earl Hall earned the award twice, the first being the week of January 6 and the second being February second. Hall was also a 2014 All-American. BADGERS IN THE POLLS X After a thriller tiebreaker in Madison, the Wisconsin Wrestling program has moved up to No. 16 in the NWCA/USA Today Division I Coaches Poll, its highest ranking this season. X Wisconsin topped No. 21 Rutgers at home Friday, February 6. On Sunday, the team fell to No, 9 Illinois on the road. Huge individual victories for the Badgers increased their own rankings, and helped move the team up to No. 16 overall and rack up 114 points in the poll. X Ten of the 14 teams in the Big Ten Conference appear in the latest Top 25 rankings, including the Badgers. Three of the conference s schools, Iowa, Minnesota and Ohio State, were ranked among the top five for the week. X Isaac Jordan, a 2014 All-American, remains at No. 2 at 165 lbs in the Intermat weekly rankings. Jordan has taken on and defeated seven ranked opponents this season. Jordan was named the Big Ten Wrestler of the Week on Tuesday (Dec. 16) after collecting wins over two ranked opponents against Nebraska and Indiana. X Fellow sophomore Ryan Taylor jumped up two more spots to No. 7 at 133 lbs last week. Last week he he defeated the 18th-ranked wrestler in the country and upset the third-ranked 133-pounder, one by major decision and one by tech fall. X 2013 Big Ten Freshman of the Year Connor Medbery remains at the No. 3 ranking at heavyweight. Medbery qualified for the NCAA championship last season, finishing the season with a No. 10 ranking. His final record was 26-9 in He is currently 26-1 on the season. X Senior Timmy McCall moved to No. 15 after two one-point losses by decisions last weekend. X Redshirt freshman, Ricky Robertson, has moved into the No. 20 spot at 184 lbs after two wins by decision against Rutgers and Illinois. X Five Badgers appear in TheOpenMat weekly rankings and three are in the top five of their respective weight classes. Isaac Jordan and Connor Medbery both hold the No. 2 slots in their weight classes while Ryan Taylor is ranked fourth at 133 lbs. Timmy McCall is ranked No. 14 while Ricky Robertson checks in at No. 16. X Wisconsin is ranked at No. 14 by FloWrestling. X UW is ranked 10th in WIN Magazine s Tournament Power Index Rankings with a projected 44.5 points. ALL HE DOES IS WIN X Junior Connor Medbery leads the team with 26 total wins and has compiled a total of 88.5 team points. He also has the most wins by technical fall and major decision. Medbery has won six matches with tech falls and seven by major decision. His six tech falls are a season-best for him and his seven major decisions are also a season-high for the Loveland, Colorado native. FALL INTO PLACE X Sophomore Isaac Jordan has a team-best seven falls this season. His last fall was against Northwestern s seventh-ranked Pierce Harger when he pinned his ranked opponent in 2:21. Jordan s career high is seven pins in a season. #WINNING X Five Badgers have 20-plus win seasons already. Connor Medbery leads the team with 26 wins while Ricky Robertson has posted 22 wins this season. Ryan Taylor, Timmy McCall and Frank Cousins each have logged 21 wins apiece. 3 XJORDAN X DELIVERS Sophomore Isaac Jordan leads the team with the most falls (six). He has 12 career falls after recording seven last season, a mark he is one pin away from tying this season. XIN X THE SPOTLIGHT Wisconsin s dual versus Iowa State can be viewed on Cyclones.tv after signing up for the site. With the Big Ten seeking its ninth-striaght national championship, BTN s coverage of wrestling this season is the most extensive in program history. BTN will also have live coverage of the Big Ten Wrestling Championships in Columbus, Ohio. XNOTICE X US NOW On Friday, February 6, Wisconsin took down No. 21 Rutgers in a tiebreaker that came down to individual team points. Wisconsin outscored Rutgers 64-52, putting them at 2-0 in all time meetings. Wisconsin started what was an epic weekend with a 45-0 shutout win over conference for Indiana on Dec. 11. It was the first shutout win Wisconsin has had over a Division I school in 11 years. UW All-American Isaac Jordan defeated Indiana s No. 3 Taylor Walsh with a 3-1 decision. The Badgers gave up no offensive points by not allowing a single takedown or reversal. The unranked Wisconsin wrestling program upset No. 8 Nebraska with a victory at the Devaney Center in Lincoln, Nebraska on Dec. 13. The dual handed Nebraska their first loss of the season, dropping them to 4-1 overall and 1-1 in Big Ten competition. XJORDAN X EARNS BIG TEN WRESTLER OF THE WEEK ACCOLADES Sophomore Isaac Jordan was named the Big Ten Wrestler of the Week after posting two impressive wins over ranked opponents last week, it was announced by the conference Tuesday. Honored the first time this season and the second time in his career, Jordan has been at No. 3 in the Intermat weekrankings for four consecutive weeks. Jordan started his winning weekend with a 3-1 decision over No. 3 Taylor Walsh of Indiana, which helped lead the Badgers to their first shutout win (45-0) over a Division I school in 11 years. The Urbana, Ohio, native then followed by pinning No. 20 Austin Wilson of Nebraska in 32 seconds, marking his fifth pin of the season. Jordan now holds a perfect 6-0 record against ranked opponents this season and has tallied 50 career victories. He has tallied a 19-1 record on the season, including a 9-0 mark against Big Ten opponents. Jordan was also the last Wrestler of the Week from Wisconsin, bringing home the accolade on Feb. 25, XBIG X TEN CHAMPIONSHIP The 2015 Big Ten Championships will be held on March 7-8. This season, they will be hosted at Ohio State, in Columbus, Ohio. TERRIFIC TAYLOR No. 11 Connor Medbery (HWT) was near perfect for Wisconsin this season in dual meet competitions. The ly for Loveland, Colo., native finisehd the year with a 11-1 dual record. up After shifting weight classes, sophomore Ryan Taylor has seen great success at 133 lbs. No. 7 Ryan Taylor has established his place at 133 lbs. and has logged a 10-1 dual record since shifting weight classes. One of UW s 2014 NCAA qualifiers at 125 lbs., Taylor is adjusting well to his new weight class after recording his first fall of the season at North Dakota State. CHANGING IT UP Jesse Thielke also moved up a weight class to 141 lbs., as did 2014 NCAA qualifier Rylan Lubeck who jumped up to 149 lbs. Lubeck made his first appearance at 149 lbs. against Indiana and holds a 3-3 season record at 141 lbs. Thielke moved to 141 lbs. and is 3-7 on the season. FRESHMAN S FIRSTS True freshman Johnny Jimenez is 5-6 this season with eight starts as a Badger. MCCALL IS YOUR MAN No. 15 Timmy McCall finished as the runner-up in the 197 lbs. weight class at the 52nd annual Midlands Championships. The fifth-year senior was the only Badger who made it to the finals at Midlands and helped lead Wisconsin to a seventh-place finish at the tournament. He scored 17.0 team points for UW. The 197-pounder lost to sixth-ranked Nathan Burak of Iowa in the finals by a close 4-3 decision. WELCOME ABOARD The Wisconsin wrestling team welcomes six newcomers to the mat for the fall of 2015, head coach Barry Davis announced. The Badgers signed three of FLO Wrestling s top 100 recruits, two in-state seniors and one of Illinois top wrestlers. Izaec Quintanilla (Spokane, Washington), Michael Cullen (Cary, Illinois), Elijah Stickley (Urbana, Ohio), Hunter Ritter (Baltimore, Maryland), Mason Reinhardt (Merrill, Wisconsin) and Cole Martin (Lancaster, Wisconsin) all signed their National Letters of Intent to join the Wisconsin wrestling program in the fall of 2015.

4 EXCITING STARTS Andrew Crone and Seth Liegel registered their first career starts against Maryland. Crone won with a takedown in the last 14 seconds to log a 7-5 decision. Liegel tied Maryland s Louis Mascola three times before heading into an extra period and claiming a victory with a 10-8 decision. Crone and Liegel both won their matches with takedowns within the last fifteen seconds of each match. BRINGING OUT THE BIG GUNS No. 5 Connor Medbery and No. 16 Timmy McCall had an impressive debut in the season after quickly taking out the competition at the Cowboy Open. Medbery claimed the crown at Hwt., while McCall capped it off for the 197 lbs. weight class. Medbery and McCall are two of the five returning NCAA qualifiers from the squad. They have stayed constitent with Medbery holding a perfect 12-0 record McCall having only dropped two matches with a 10-2 record. ALL EYES ON ISAAC Standing alone at 165 lbs. is sophomore, Isaac Jordan. Jordan marked a 17-0 record in dual competition during the season at 157 lbs. At the 2014 Big Ten Championships, Jordan went 3-1 to finish third. He moved onto the NCAA championships, where a 4-2 record took him to a seventh place finish. Jordan earned All-American honors after his superb season, as well as being titled USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week (2/24/14) and Big Ten Wrestler of the Week (2/25/14). FIRST-TIME STARTERS There are six wrestlers that marked their first start for Wisconsin at the Cowboy Open. Eric Peissig is a sophomore at 197 lbs. Peissig went 10-7 in open tournaments during the season. The remaining five new starters all have freshman eligibility. Gabe Grahek is a 141 lbs., 5-foot-10 competitor. Last season, Grahek posted a 15-8 overall record in open tournaments. Andrew Crone is wrestling at 149 lbs. He held a 23-6 record last season and opened the season with a 10-6 decision over TJ Ruschell in the Intrasquad Scrimmage. Jarod Donar will be competing at 157 lbs. this season. In the season, Donar finished with an 11-9 record. He also wrestled in the Intrasquad Scrimmage, where he posted a 4-0 decision over Santonio Cathery. Jake Stilling stands 5-foot-11 at 174 lbs. He went 19-6 in open tournaments last season, which was highlighted by wins in the Blugold Open and Duhawk Open. The final new face to Wisconsin s starting lineup is Ricky Robertson. He went 21-5 in open competition after winning the Blugold Open, Duhawk Open and Jim Fox Open. At the Intrasquad Scrimmage, Robertson won with an 8-3 decision over Nic Veling at 184 lbs. FAMILY AFFAIR The Badgers boast two sets of brothers and a pair of guys with UW family connections on this year s squad. Brothers Scott and Seth Liegel and TJ and assistant coach Kyle Ruschell, along with Isaac Jordan (son of Jim, , nephew of Jeff, and brother of Ben, ) and Jarod Donar (brother of Jake, ) make up this year s roster. WATCH WISCONSIN Fans can watch live streams of the Badgers matches through BTN Plus. Four of UW s bouts will be broadcasted live through the BTN2Go network, Indiana (Dec. 11), Northwestern (Jan. 9), Rutgers (Feb. 6) and Illinois (Feb. 8). FAB FIVE Wisconsin currently boasts a roster with five returning NCAA qualifiers. No. 4 All-American, Isaac Jordan, is the only Badger in the 165 lbs. weight class. Jordan s 4-2 record at the 2014 NCAA Championships led him to a seventh place finish at 157 lbs. Rylan Lubeck, a sophomore coming into the season as the No. 19 wrestler at 141 lbs., held a 2-3 record at the Big Ten Championships, which took him to a sixth place finish. He went on to wrestle 2-2 at NCAA championships. The No. 7 sophomore at 125 lbs., Ryan Taylor, ended the Big Ten Championships with a 3-1 record and third place finish in the season. Taylor finished NCAAs with a 2-2 record. Connor Medbery, a heavyweight junior from Colorado, ranked in the top ten during the entire season. Medbery placed seventh at Big Ten Championships and went 2-2 at NCAAs. The No. 6 wrestler was also a 2014 Academic All-Big Ten honoree. Timmy McCall is a fifth-year senior coming into the season with a No. 3 rank. Last season, McCall placed seventh at Big Ten championships with a 3-2 record. State Indiana Maryland Wisconsin wrestling BTN broadcast schedule (all times CT) The Big Ten Network will air its most-ever wrestling events, including Wisconsin s dual meet at Michigan on Jan. 23 at 7 p.m., as announced by the conference. Additionally, the entire 2015 Big Ten Wrestling Championships will be broadcast live on the network. With the Big Ten seeking its ninth straight national championship, BTN s wrestling coverage, presented by returning sponsor Cliff Keen Athletic, will be the most extensive in network history. Additionally, a record 51 events will be streamed live on BTN Plus. A large number of those streamed events will also be televised on delay as part of BTN s Student U initiative. The rest of Wisconsin s conference matches will be available live through BTN Plus.

Davis has an overall dual record of The 2013 season saw Davis help Tyler Graff earn the third, and highest, All-America honor of his career, placing third at 133 lbs. Under Davis, Graff became the ninth three-time All-American in Wisconsin history. Davis also helped Jackson Hein and Connor Medbery qualify for their first NCAA championships appearances. In 2012, Davis coached Ben Jordan to an All-America honor at 165 lbs., joining his father, Jim Jordan, and uncle, Jeff Jordan, on the prestigious list. Davis led the Badgers to their third-straight top-10 finish at the NCAA Division I Championships in 2011, and coached four of the seven wrestlers to All-America honors. In 2010, Davis won the biggest accolade of his coaching career when he was named the National Coach of the Year by the National Wrestling Coaches Association. Davis helped Wisconsin to a fourth place finish at the NCAA championships, tying for best finish in school history and best under his reign. In addition, he helped aid Andrew Howe to his first NCAA Division I title at 165 lbs. and a perfect 37-0 overall record. Under Davis, the Badgers finished the dual season with a overall mark and 3-5 mark in the Big Ten. It marked the 11th time (and 10th-consecutive year) Davis teams had won at least nine duals. More impressive, Davis squad finished ninth at the NCAA championships. Five wrestlers qualified for the 2009 NCAA championships and Wisconsin brought home three All-Americans including runner-up at 165 lbs., Andrew Howe, Kyle Ruschell (3rd at 149 lbs.) and Zach Tanelli (4th at 141 lbs.). Davis reached a milestone during the season by recording his 150th career win with an victory over Oklahoma on Feb. 21, This made him just the second UW coach to do so, joining George Martin who coached for 32 years and finished Davis was installed as the 15th head coach in Wisconsin history on March 4, 1994, after serving as the program s interim head coach for the season. During his tenure, Davis has coached seven individuals to 11 Big Ten titles, including the latest, Andrew Howe, who captured the 165 lbs. title as a true freshman in Howe is the only true freshman during Davis s tenure to win a Big Ten title. Davis also coached Donny Pritzlaff (165 pounds, 1999, 2000, 01), Keith Davison (190 pounds, 1994), Matt Hanutke (118 pounds, 1994), Eric Jetton (126 pounds, 1997, 98) and Kevin Wilmot (167 pounds, 1997) Tom Clum (125 pounds in 2004 and 133 pounds in 2006) to conference championships. Additionally, 21 of Davis wrestlers have earned All- America honors, while sixty-two have qualified for the NCAA championships, including current Badgers Tyler Graff, Jackson Hein, Connor Medbery and Cole Tobin.
