GREEN WHITE SOCCER CLUB A non-profit 501(c)(3) community based organization VOLUNTEER REWARDS PROGRAM The success of our organization depends on the effort we put forth. Whether it is a coach, manager, director, player or our Green White Families, it takes Teamwork to accomplish our goals. As a not-for-profit youth soccer organization, Green White relies on the support of volunteers to supplement the volunteer efforts of the club s board. To encourage people to become more involved, the board is putting money behind the effort to increase involvement. Every year, the board will budget and allocate funds to reimburse volunteers. This pool of money will be allocated to GW players based on the relative effort they (and their supporters) put forth, as measured by the points earned for them. At the end of the season, players (their parents, actually) will receive checks for their earned portion just in time to pay for the next season s participation fees. Many people would love to get more involved but are unaware of the volunteer opportunities available. There is actually a wide variety of things people can do to support Green White and make us more visible in the community something for everybody no matter how much, or little, time they have to commit. Point-earning activities will be displayed on this SignupGenius website ( and updated regularly as new activities become available. You just need to sign up for the activities you wish to attend, and you ll start racking up points. A tally sheet that shows how many points have been earned will be posted on the website, so you will always know how you re doing relative to the other volunteers. Examples of volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to, the following: Manning the GW table at Park District Events o Easter Egg Hunt o Concerts o Halloween o Christmas Party o Mardi Gras o Strive for Five Manning the GW table at Community Events o Block Party o Parade Green White Soccer Club Post Office Box 596 Mount Prospect, Illinois U.S.A.

GREEN WHITE SOCCER CLUB A non-profit 501(c)(3) community based organization Working at Club Events o Spring/fall hot chocolate/lemonade day o Tournament o Picnic o Out-of-town tournament picnic o Holiday Party o Try-outs Regularly supporting the club through Jobs o Team Manager o Board Member meeting attendance o Senior Club Committee Participation In general, you can earn a point for every 2 hours worked at any of these events. Additional points can be earned for planning an event or for organizing the volunteers at an event and submitting the completed volunteer lists. If the whole family volunteers, each person can designate which GW player will benefit from their efforts. The more people who attend these events, the more fun everyone will have and the better represented Green White will be in the community! Thanks for all you do for our club! Green White Soccer Club Post Office Box 596 Mount Prospect, Illinois U.S.A.

6/17/2016 Provide excellent professional training by making sure the PLAYER comes first. Provide life long lessons through soccer Coaches should be organized for every session. A coach will help nourish a players development in the game of soccer. Each player will leave with a LOVE of the GAME All coaches should work to better themselves through clinics and camps. DOC, along with coaches input through tryouts, will determine Roster size, playing up and the determination of teams. All players should be on time for practice 6pm means 6pm not 6.10pm please work with the coach to ensure all players are on time. Strongly communicate this to all parents All players will wear Green White T shirts and long sleeve shirts for practice. Players will receive T-shirts and a warm-up (uniform package) jacket which should be worn for training and games Please wear dark colors when training in the colder months to assist coaches with organization of training. Players/ managers/coaches should not wear any other club logos etc. to practice 3 Key Areas for Parents 1. Be positive on the sideline 2. Be careful to on what you say on the sideline 3. Sit down and watch the game Let coaches coach! 3 Key Areas for Coach/ Manager 1. Sit down and watch more Try to stand less 2.Give positive direction and information 3.Take good notes Philosophy Playing time and quality training/practices have a big role in the development of a soccer player. The soccer matches and training scrimmages are an important assessment tool. How a player performs on the field during matches and training scrimmages provide the ultimate training tool for coaches. The philosophy is that playing time is based on the following factors: Attendance Regular attendance at training sessions and matches Ability Can work well individually and with teammates Attitude- Behaves well on and off the field in all situations and puts in good effort Fitness Level Is able to deal with the physical demands of a soccer match Technical/Tactical Good understanding of the game Flow of the Match- A coaching decision made by the coach during the course of a match. 5

6/17/2016 General Guidelines U8, U9, U10 At this age level players should expect to play on average approximately minutes of a 60- minute match. U11 U12 At this age level players should expect to play on average approximately minutes of a 70- minute match Coaches can reduce playing time for individuals in the above age groups with reference to five factors listed above.; Attendance, Ability, Attitude, Fitness Level, Flow of the Match. U13 and above- At this age level the amount of playing time is up to the discretion of the coach. Decisions made by the coach should be done with consideration of the player, the team and the nature of the competition. All players should expect to play at least a portion of the match. Coaches can reduce playing time for individuals with reference to the following factors; Attendance, Ability, Attitude, Fitness and Technical/Tactical, Flow of the Match. Points to Note. The coach of the team should communicate with the player reasons for reduced time. It may be simply deficiencies in the factors previously listed. Coaches will communicate with the player on how potentially they can improve their chances of more playing time. If a player/parent has a problem with playing time please address that with the coach this will be done in appropriate manner no sooner than 24 hours after a match. During the course of a match it is up to the coach to make the best decision he/she see fits that will enhance the team s chances to win the match. The coach s decision is final. YSSL and IWSL will implement the calendar year age grouping for player registration beginning with the soccer year. Previously, age groups were determined based on players born between Aug. 1 and July 31. The change to calendar year age groups will reflect the calendar year, or Jan. 1 to Dec. 31. Players are still allowed to play up or play in an older age group. What if a player wants to play with his or her school friends, but is in a different age group? A player will be able to play up with an older age group, which has been true for decades. As always, a player may not play down with a younger age group. This will be decided following the tryouts in May/June. How does this affect tournaments? Starting Fall 2016 all state sanctioned tournaments in Illinois will go with calendar year groups. All IYSA and US Youth Soccer state and national tournaments will align with calendar groupings as well. Birth Year and Season Matrix When determining the age group for a season, the year the season ends should be used for determining the birth year. Also note that the format U followed by age really means that age and younger. For example, U8 should be read as 8 and younger. For more age-group information please reference U.S. Soccer s Player Development Initiatives Season Birth Year U U6 U U6 U7 U U6 U7 U8 U U6 U7 U8 U9 U U6 U7 U8 U9 U10 U U6 U7 U8 U9 U10 U11 U U6 U7 U8 U9 U10 U11 U12 U U6 U7 U8 U9 U10 U11 U12 U13 U U7 U8 U9 U10 U11 U12 U13 U14 U U8 U9 U10 U11 U12 U13 U14 U15 U U9 U10 U11 U12 U13 U14 U15 U16 U U10 U11 U12 U13 U14 U15 U16 U17 U U11 U12 U13 U14 U15 U16 U17 U18 U U12 U13 U14 U15 U16 U17 U18 U U13 U14 U15 U16 U17 U18 U U14 U15 U16 U17 U18 U U15 U16 U17 U18 U U16 U17 U18 U U17 U18 U U18 U19 6

6/17/2016 We already partake in an open tryout style of allocating players to teams, so the transition will be very easy. Simply all the players tryout for their new age group and make the teams. Some players can play up and decisions on players who fall into that category will be done following the tryout process. Again some players will be asked to play on a couple of teams as needed. This Spring you will see teams occasionally practice together and Remember, Green White S.C is here for the kids. All of this has nearly no effect on them. They just want to play soccer. Most of the stresses and worries we have do not even cross their minds (until we start expressing them to our kids and make them worry for no reason). As long as the players are doing their best, learning, and enjoying themselves, we are serving them well. Teams in each age group to play in State Cup/ Illinois Cup or Presidents Cup (IYSA Sanctioned tournaments) Continued stronger Education for coaches and players Increased opportunities for players to participate in ODP, College Search showcase tournaments and Camps Increased participation and work with Recreation Soccer to provide the best experience for all players whatever their level Continue to work on Player Development Model with addition of increased GK training and speed programs Continue to look at Facility Improvement Projects Turf Fields and better playing surfaces Sponsorship programs to assist players in programs not included in their Fees ( IEP, ODP, Playing opportunities) Adam Howarth Director Of Coaching ahowarth@greenwhitesoccer.org Mike Folkers President mfolkers@greenwhitesoccer.org Mario Valentini Girls Travel Director mvalentini@greenwhitesoccer.org Dave Viers Boys Travel Director dviers@greenwhitesoccer.org Steve Samuelson Treasurer ssamuelson@greenwhitesoccer.org 7
