DOCKTALK August 2014 SAIL CAMP 2014 Sail Camp is a week of sailing instruction on Optis or El Toros for sailors aged 9-14. The kids come on a Sunday and camp until the next Saturday.

It is a wonderful week of being surrounded by people who love sailing and want to pass that love on to the next generation.

8 DOCKTALK August 2014 SAIL CAMP 2014 Sail Camp is a week of sailing instruction on Optis or El Toros for sailors aged The kids come on a Sunday and camp until the next Saturday. They are coached on land and on the water and they also make crafts, put on skits, build a boat from cardboard, go on the Wednesday night big boat race, and they even have a dance! It is a wonderful week of being surrounded by people who love sailing and want to pass that love on to the next generation. Camp is jointly run through the Richmond Yacht Club, Santa Cruz Yacht Club, and the Stockton Sailing Club. Through this endeavor, we have forged a tight bond with their members and so have our young sailors. On our 24th year of Sail camp we hosted 78 young sailors, 7 land counselors, 19 Junior instructors, and more volunteers than you can count. So many different people came together for one cause, Sail Camp! All of the kitchen help, crafts people, dock help, on the water help, Wednesday night racers, directors, registrars, our doctor and instructors all volunteered their time for the kids! Page 8

9 DOCKTALK August 2014 We have been lucky to enjoy the beautiful facilities, outdoor retreat and warm water. This is a wonderful venue for this event and everyone appreciates the generosity of the Stockton Sailing Club for allowing us to camp here every year. Thank you to everyone involved in Sail Camp 2014; the office, the Stockton Sailing club and all of its members for their tolerance and generosity.
