4 Description of the equipment D A B E C 3 C A Frame: load-bearing structure of the equipment. The user stands in front of any of the four sides of the frame to perform the exercises. On sides 2 and 4 there are high pulleys; on side 1 there is an adjustable output pulley; on side 3 there is a low pulley and a high pulley. B Adjustable cable outlet: adjust height using knob (D). C Weight stacks: each pulley, operated by the user, moves the weights along two guide rails by means of a cable. A pin (E) is used to select the workload, to adjust the exercise effort level. 4

6 Safety devices and warnings The maximum user weight is 180 kg. The outside of each weight stack is covered by a protective panel. The equipment has no sharp corners. All parts which come into contact with the user's body are suitably protected with rubber coverings or padding. Pay particular attention to the parts of the equipment with labels indicating BEWARE OF CRUSHING. This symbol accompanies safety warnings. It is used to draw attention to potential risks of personal injury. Pay attention to all safety warnings accompanied by this symbol to avoid possible injury. Warning During all operations involving transport, maintenance and cleaning, pay attention to any part of the equipment where body parts may become trapped. 6

7 Safety devices and warnings Warnings Attention must be paid to the labels attached to the equipment, as they provide information about possible risks and hazards. We recommend immediately replacing the labels when they become damaged or difficult to read. WARNING SERIOUS INJURIES CAN OCCUR ON THIS EQUIPMENT. YOU MUST ALWAYS TAKE THE FOLLOWING PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID INJURY! Before using the equipment, read all the warnings and all the instructions. Be certain on the use of the equipment. Use the equipment only for its intended use. Do NOT modify the equipment. Always consult with a qualified and licensed medical professional before starting any exercise program. If you feel any pain or abnormal symptoms, stop your workout immediately and consult your physician. Keep body, hair and clothing away from all moving parts. Check the equipment before use. Do not use the equipment if you see signs of wear or damages. In this case notify the staff immediatley. Before using the equipment check that the cables are correctly routed inside the races of all the pulleys, and check the state of wear of the cables and their connections. If you see signs of wear, notify the staff immediatley. Be certain that the weight pin is completely inserted. Use only the pin provided by the manufacturer. If unsure, seek assistance. Never pin the weights in an elevated position. DO NOT use the equipment if found in this condition. Seek assistance from floor staff. Do not use attachments not recommended by the manufacturer. Do not allow children unsupervised access to the equipment. Close supervise teenagers. DO NOT REMOVE THIS LABEL. REPLACE IF DAMAGED. WARNING Before use be certain that the equipment is secured to the wall or to the floor. If not, notify the staff immediatley. If unsure, seek assistance. 7

8 Place of installation To ensure safe, comfortable and effective use of the equipment, the place of installation must comply with certain specific requirements; in particular, before choosing where to install the equipment we recommend that you check that the following conditions are available: - a temperature between +10 C and +25 C; - sufficient ventilation to maintain a humidity level between 20% and 90%, when the equipment is in use; - sufficient lighting to make the area a safe and relaxing place to exercise; - sufficient clearance on all sides of the equipment, taking into account its maximum dimensions when in use, to ensure safety; - a flat, stable and vibration-free floor surface, with sufficient load bearing capacity for the equipment s weight. If the equipment is to be installed in a public recreation area, the place of installation must comply with all the requirements of the regulations currently in force. Warnings The equipment must be installed and used in a place where access and supervision are specifically controlled by the owner. When installing the equipment, use suitable personal protective equipment. 8

9 Lifting and moving the equipment Use the four castor wheels (optional) to move the equipment. If the equipment has already been anchored to the floor, it needs to be released from the anchorage and its original feet refitted: follow the instructions in the paragraph describing anchoring to the floor in reverse order. Warning Move the equipment very carefully, because it may become unstable and tip over. The castors for moving the equipment snap on underneath the feet of the equipment, after it has been raised, and are held in place by the special straps. Raise the equipment using a pallet truck or fork-lift truck; and for greater safety place a wedge under the frame to keep the equipment raised. Warning We recommend placing padded material between the frame and the wedge and between the frame and the machinery used to lift it. Fit two of the wheels: fit the castor stems (A) into the holes provided under the equipment feet, then push hard until they snap in. A

10 Lifting and moving the equipment Proceeding in the same way, lift the equipment from the other side and insert the other two wheels. Lastly, lift the equipment again, remove the safety wedges and place the wheels on the floor. Warnings When lifting the equipment, do not press against the weight stack protective panels. Do not use the equipment with the castors fitted. The castors are to be used only for moving the equipment and must be removed before exercising on it. After moving the equipment, it must be anchored to the floor before use. 10

11 Assembly Warning When installing the equipment, use suitable personal protective equipment. B C Assembling the weight stacks on sides 2 and 4 Loosen the two screws (A) inside each of the guards (B) on sides 2 and 4, then lower the guide rails (C) until they are resting on the floor. Warning Screws (A) secure the guide rails (C); hold on to the guide rails when loosening these screws to prevent them from dropping on the floor. The weight stacks must be made up as follows: - side 2 weight stack with backrest: 9 wide weights, plus wide crosspiece; - side 4 weight stack with high pulley: 13 wide weights, plus wide crosspiece. 12 Assembly Assemble one weight stack at a time. For every weight stack take the crosspiece (E) from the crate and then take the weights out one by one, starting from the last one (the one with the highest number), and insert them in guide rails (C) from above. E Warnings The weights must be assembled with the selection holes facing the outside of the equipment and the numbers upright. To keep the weights in the correct order always take them out of the packaging and insert them ONLY one at a time; this will ensure that the numbers stamped on the weights will be in the right order in each weight stack. 13 Assembly Once the weight stacks have been assembled insert their respective crosspiece (E) above the weights; carefully insert guide rails (C) into their upper housings (F); then tighten screws (A) to lock them in position. Proceed in the same way for the other weight stack. F F C C E A After completing the weight stacks on sides 2 and 4, assemble the cables (see the Assembling the pulleys and cables section). 13

14 Assembly Assembling the supports Side 2 Insert upper cross-bar (A) into the frame and secure it with the three screws (B), two at the sides and one underneath. Fit handgrip (C) into the two frame pins and secure it with the four screws (D), two on each side. B B A C D 14

16 Assembly Assembling the pulleys and cables Re-route the cables on sides 2 and 4 as shown in the illustrations, threading them through the holes (A) provided in the equipment tubing. Check that the cables are correctly positioned in the pulley grooves. A A

17 Assembly After re-routing, the cables must be secured: fit rubber gaiter (B) on to the end of the cable, insert the cable into connector (C) and then thoroughly tighten screws (D). B D C 17

18 Assembly Assembling the weight stack protective panels Place a counterframe (R) in front of each weight stack, ensuring that the holes match those in the brackets. Fasten the protective panel to the brackets and to the counterframe using the 6 screws and washers (S). Repeat on each side. R S 18

19 Anchoring to the floor The following anchoring parts are supplied: 4 feet, feet protections, anchor screws. Warning To anchor the equipment, use anchor screws suited to the kind of floor, and which strictly comply with the following minimum requirement: minimum guaranteed load of 50 kg. min. 50 kg When anchoring the equipment to the floor, the feet need to be replaced: loosen screw (A) to remove all the supporting feet. Do not throw the original feet away, so that you can use them for inserting castors when moving the equipment. A 19

20 Anchoring to the floor Apply adhesive protection (B) to the new feet. Attach all 4 new feet to the equipment using the screws (C) provided. Mark the position of the holes to be drilled in the floor. Drill the holes in the floor. Insert anchor screws (D) and screw then tightly to the floor. B Warning The equipment must be anchored to the floor. Technogym accepts no responsibility for injury caused by failure to anchor it to the floor. D C 20

21 Fitting the number holder The number holder must be fixed immediately underneath the cross-bars: standing facing the equipment, attach the number holder to the left tube supporting the guide rail, so that it is flush with the rubber stop on the guide rail. The number holder is made up of two sections: the larger section (A) must be placed at the front; the curved closing section (B) must be placed at the back of the equipment. B Insert the two screws (Tbic M5x6 Z) from the front of the equipment, coupling them with the two M5 cap nuts at the rear; then tighten the nuts using the appropriate spanners. The number holder is optional. A 21

22 Routine maintenance Warnings The safety of the equipment is assured only on the condition that it is carefully inspected every two weeks for any signs of damage and/or wear and to ensure that it is perfectly anchored to the floor. Replace defective and worn components immediately, or alternatively remove the equipment from service. The equipment should always be kept clean and free of dust, in compliance with good hygiene practice, especially if it is used in a gym or by more than one person. Use a moist cloth or a sponge and mild soap to clean the padded parts. Wipe the outside of the equipment every week using a damp sponge. Do not use chemicals or solvents. Warning Be careful not to rub too hard on the drawings and instructions shown on the labels. Oiling the weight stack guide rails: - remove the protective panel covering the weight stack, following the instructions found in the paragraph headed Removing the weight stack panels; - use a soft cloth to remove any dust and oil residues from the guide rails; - slightly moisten the cloth with the oil supplied in the optional Basic Box kit; - using this cloth, apply a very thin layer of lubricant over the guide rails, taking care not to apply too much; - refit the weight stack protective panel. Call the Technogym Technical Support Service for instructions on any maintenance operations not described in this manual. 22

23 Replacing the padded parts If any of the padding shows signs of wear, especially in the interests of hygiene, we recommend replacing them completely. In order to replace the backrest and headrest unscrew the screws on the opposite side to the padding. 23

24 Replacing the cables Cables must always be replaced at the first sign of wear, even if only the outer rubber protection is worn. Warnings Carefully check the state of the cables once a month. ALWAYS use cables supplied directly by Technogym. When replacing cables, note that the equipment comes with various cable anchor systems. Before replacing them, remove the weight stack protective panel: unscrew the 6 screws attaching the panel to the bracket. After replacing the cable, refit the protective panel. A 24

25 Replacing the cables Side 1, adjustable outlet cable The cable is secured with screws (B) and (D), both to the connector and the anchor points. A E - Remove any accessories; - raise rubber gaiter (A); - unscrew the screws (B) and pull the cable out from connector (C); - unscrew the screws (D) and pull the cable out from connector (E); - remove the whole cable from the equipment; C B D - insert the new cable (ensuring that it follows the same route as the original cable, as shown in the illustration); - insert the cable into connector (E) and tighten screws (D); - insert rubber gaiter (A) and the connector (C); then tighten the screws (B); - lower rubber gaiter (A). 1 25

26 Replacing the cables Side 2, high pulley The cable is fixed to attachment (C) with three screws (B), which must be loosened, and with adjuster (E), from which it must be withdrawn. - Remove any accessories; - raise rubber gaiter (A); - unscrew the screws (B) and pull the cable from connector (C); - loosen lock nut (D) and unscrew adjuster (E); - pull out the cable from the weight stack side; - insert the new cable from the adjuster side (ensuring that it follows the same route as the original cable, as shown in the illustration); tighten the adjuster; - insert the rubber gaiter (A) and connector (C); then tighten the screws (B); - lower the rubber gaiter (A). 2 A B C E D 26

27 Replacing the cables Side 3, high pulley and low pulley The cable is secured with two identical connectors with screws (B), three for each connector. - Remove any accessories; - raise rubber gaiter (A); - unscrew the screws (B) and pull the cable out of connector (C); - repeat for the other end of the cable; - remove the whole cable from the equipment; - insert the new cable (ensuring that it follows the same route as the original cable, as shown in the illustration); - insert rubber gaiter (A) and connector (C); then tighten the screws (B); - lower the rubber gaiter (A); - repeat for the other end of the cable. 3 B C D 27

28 Replacing the cables Side 4, high pulley The cable is fixed to connector (C) with three screws (B), which must be loosened, and with adjuster (E), from which it has to be withdrawn. B - Remove any accessories; - raise rubber gaiter (A); - unscrew the screws (B) and pull the cable out of connector (C); - loosen lock nut (D) and unscrew adjuster (E); - pull the cable out from the weight stack side; - insert the new cable from the adjuster side (ensuring that it follows the same route as the original cable, as shown in the illustration); tighten the adjuster; - insert rubber gaiter (A) and connector (C); then tighten the screws (B); - lower the rubber gaiter (A). 29 Replacing the spring hook Always replace the spring hooks as soon as you notice the slightest signs of wear, buckling, difficulty closing, or anything else that may interfere with its durability. When replacing, always use a spring hook supplied directly by Technogym. If it is impossible to obtain an original part, use a spring hook that strictly meets the following minimum requirements: - materials used: AISI 316 stainless steel; - maximum capacity on main axis: 1600 kg (3500 lb); - maximum capacity on minor axis: 350 kg (770 lb). Warnings Once a month, carefully check the condition of the spring hook. Do not alter the spring hooks in any way. 29

30 Technical Service The Technogym Technical Support Service provides: - telephone assistance; - information on which service calls are covered and not covered by warranty; - on-site assistance; - sending of original spare parts. Technogym Technical Support Service tel: fax: service@technogym.com When contacting the Technogym Technical Support Service, please specify the following details: - equipment model, - date of purchase, - serial number, - precise description of the problem. Warning Any operations carried out by persons not authorized by Technogym on the equipment will invalidate the warranty. 30

31 Storage If the equipment is not expected to be used for a prolonged period, we recommend storing it: - in a clean and dry place, covered with a cloth to protect it from dust; - in an environment with a temperature between +10 C and +25 C and humidity between 20% and 90%. Use the original packing materials, to better preserve the equipment. 31

32 Disposal It is always good practise to ensure that the equipment can never constitute a hazard; therefore do not leave the equipment where children may play with it. Do not dump the equipment in the environment, or in public areas or private areas accessible to the public. The equipment is made from recyclable materials such as steel, aluminium and plastic, which must be disposed of in the manner prescribed by the urban refuse collection regulations in force, by firms specialised in urban and environmental hygiene. 32

33 Using the equipment The equipment is intended for medical use and is designed and constructed for use in doctors' surgeries, hospitals, clinics and gyms, for muscle treatment and rehabilitation, prescribed and supervised by medical personnel or qualified professional staff. The methods of use must be evaluated by qualified personnel according to the medical conditions to be treated and the treatment prescribed. Consult a doctor or a qualified professional before using the equipment. Some examples of installing accessories and a small selection of the exercises that may be carried out using the are described below. Triceps bar 33

Stand with the arm to be raised away from the equipment and your legs slightly apart for greater stability. Abduct your outstretched arm until it is parallel to the ground without making counter-lateral movements with your torso. Maintain a smooth controlled speed; we recommend a slower speed during the return phase than during the approach phase. The weight stack should not return completely to rest position during the return phase. 36

37 Using the equipment Front arm raise (anterior deltoids) Jointed bar in low position. Select the workload with the pin. Stand facing the equipment with your legs slightly apart for greater stability. Lift your arms simultaneously to shoulder height without moving your torso. Maintain a smooth controlled speed; we recommend a slower speed during the return phase than during the approach phase. The weight stack should not return completely to rest position during the return phase. 37

38 Using the equipment Lateral arm raises, with trunk bent at a right-angle (medial and posterior deltoid) Handle in low position. Select the workload with the pin. Stand with the side to be exercised away from the equipment with your legs slightly parted and grasp the side handgrip for greater stability; bend your torso at a right angle. Raise your outstretched arm until it is parallel with the ground without making counter-lateral movements with your torso. Maintain a smooth controlled speed; we recommend a slower speed during the return phase than during the approach phase. The weight stack should not return completely to rest position during the return phase. 38

39 Using the equipment Chin pulls (trapezoid) Jointed bar in low position. Select the workload with the pin. Stand facing the equipment with your legs slightly apart for greater stability; arms outstretched. Pull the bar toward your chin by bending your elbows: shoulders, elbows and hands must all be aligned. Maintain a smooth controlled speed; we recommend a slower speed during the return phase than during the approach phase. The weight stack should not return completely to rest position during the return phase. 39

40 Using the equipment Internal rotation (subscapular, teres major, greater pectoral) Handle at elbow height. Select the workload with the pin. Stand with the side to be exercised toward the weight stack, arm bent at 90 and turned outward with legs slightly apart for greater stability. Rotate your arm inwards towards your trunk while keeping your elbow at the right angle. Maintain a smooth controlled speed; we recommend a slower speed during the return phase than during the approach phase. The weight stack should not return completely to rest position during the return phase. 40

41 Using the equipment External rotation (supraspinatous, subspinatous, teres minor) Handle at elbow height. Select the workload with the pin. Stand with the side to be exercised away from the equipment, arm bent at 90 and rotated close to your trunk, legs slightly apart. Grasp the side handgrip with your free hand for greater stability. Rotate your arm outwards while keeping your elbow at a right angle. Maintain a smooth controlled speed; we recommend a slower speed during the return phase than during the approach phase. The weight stack should not return completely to rest position during the return phase. 41

42 Using the equipment Pulls (latissimus muscle of back) Jointed bar in high position. Select the workload with the pin. Kneel in front of the equipment and grasp the bar with a reverse grip and arms outstretched. Curl your arms close to your chest. Maintain a smooth controlled speed; we recommend a slower speed during the return phase than during the approach phase. The weight stack should not return completely to rest position during the return phase. 42

43 Using the equipment Cross with handle (greater pectoral) Handle at shoulder height. Select the workload with the pin. Stand with the arm to be exercised toward the equipment and legs slightly apart for greater stability. Adduct your outstretched arm inwards. Maintain a smooth controlled speed; we recommend a slower speed during the return phase than during the approach phase. The weight stack should not return completely to rest position during the return phase. Alter the cable outlet height to change the working angle of the pectoral muscle. 43

44 Using the equipment Biceps with handle (biceps) Handle in high position. Select the workload with the pin. Stand facing the equipment with your legs slightly apart for greater stability and grasp the handle with your arm outstretched, reverse grip. Curl your forearm up without moving your upper arm. Maintain a smooth controlled speed; we recommend a slower speed during the return phase than during the approach phase. The weight stack should not return completely to rest position during the return phase. 44

45 Using the equipment Forearm curls (biceps) Jointed bar in low position. Select the workload with the pin. Stand facing the equipment with your legs slightly apart for greater stability and grasp the bar with your arm outstretched, reverse grip. Curl your forearm up without moving your upper arm. Maintain a smooth controlled speed; we recommend a slower speed during the return phase than during the approach phase. The weight stack should not return completely to rest position during the return phase. 45

46 Using the equipment Triceps extensions (triceps) Jointed bar in high position. Select the workload with the pin. Stand with your back against the backrest and grasp the bar at chest height. Extend your forearm downward without moving your upper arm. Maintain a smooth controlled speed; we recommend a slower speed during the return phase than during the approach phase. The weight stack should not return completely to rest position during the return phase. 46

47 Using the equipment Triceps extensions with handle (triceps) Handle in high position. Select the workload with the pin. Stand with your back towards the equipment and move the leg on the same side as the working arm in front of the other for greater stability. Grasp the handle with your arm bent. Extend your forearm outwards without moving your upper arm. Maintain a smooth controlled speed; we recommend a slower speed during the return phase than during the approach phase. The weight stack should not return completely to rest position during the return phase. 47

48 Using the equipment Lateral leg swings (abductors) Ankle strap in low position. Select the workload with the pin and put the ankle strap on. Stand with the side to be exercised away from the equipment. Grasp the handgrip with one hand to steady your torso. Swing your leg outwards without making counter-lateral movements with your torso. Maintain a smooth controlled speed; we recommend a slower speed during the return phase than during the approach phase. The weight stack should not return completely to rest position during the return phase. 48

49 Using the equipment Leg adductions (adductors) Ankle strap in low position. Select the workload with the pin and put the ankle strap on. Stand with the side to be exercised toward the weight stack. Hold your leg outstretched and slightly raised. Grasp the handgrip with one hand to steady your torso. Swing your leg inward without making counter-lateral movements with your torso. Maintain a smooth controlled speed; we recommend a slower speed during the return phase than during the approach phase. The weight stack should not return completely to rest position during the return phase. 49

50 Using the equipment Back leg swings (gluteus) Ankle strap in low position. Select the workload with the pin and put the ankle strap on. Stand facing the equipment and grasp the handgrips to steady your torso. Raise the leg to be exercised slightly above the ground in front of the other. Swing your leg back keeping your torso immobile and tilted slightly forward. Maintain a smooth controlled speed; we recommend a slower speed during the return phase than during the approach phase. The weight stack should not return completely to rest position during the return phase. 50

51 Using the equipment Forward leg bend (hip flexors) Ankle strap in low position. Select the workload with the pin and put the ankle strap on. Stand with your back to the equipment and grasp the two side handgrips to steady your torso. The leg to be exercised should be slightly raised off the ground and behind the other. Swing your leg forward without moving your torso. Maintain a smooth controlled speed; we recommend a slower speed during the return phase than during the approach phase. The weight stack should not return completely to rest position during the return phase. 51

52 Using the equipment Crunch (abdominals) Kneel facing the equipment; triceps bar in high position. Select the workload with the pin. Crunch forward seeking to bring your breast bone as close as possible to your pelvis. Maintain a smooth controlled speed; we recommend a slower speed during the return phase than during the approach phase.
