Stay in-bounds, ski/board within your ability, with a buddy, where it is lit. Students are expected to follow the University Prep behavior guidelines at all times. CANCELLATIONS There will be no refunds for bus cancellations. In the event the ski bus is cancelled due to ski area closure or other unforeseen events (school closure, highway/road conditions, etc.) this fee is not refundable. FRIDAY OUTLINE GEAR STORAGE AT SCHOOL Make sure all gear is clearly labeled with your name. Each Friday morning, bring your gear to the fence down the stairs behind the Puma statue, outside the classroom building. Lean the skis and snowboards up in the ski racks provided. Dress code rules apply at all times. STUDENT CARS IN THE PARKING LOT All ski bus participants cars must be moved to the Dahl Field parking before students and chaperones board their buses. The Temple needs both the campus lots and available spaces along 25 th Ave NE for Friday evening services. 2:50 PM LOADING THE BUS Put your backpack in your locker. DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING IN THE PUMADOME, HALLWAYS, OR COMMONS. Take your gear to the bus (lots of gear looks alike make sure you only take YOUR gear). The charter buses will be at the Dahl Field parking lot. Buses will line up #1-#4 in order heading north. All skis/poles/boards must be stored under the bus. Never lean ski equipment against the bus. You must show your ski pass to the chaperone as you enter the bus. Be prepared for every seat to be full. If a seat says Reserved for Chaperone or Reserved for Senior do not move the sign and do not stack your stuff on that seat. No boots in the overhead compartments. Keep the aisle clear at all times. ON THE BUS Clean up after yourself. Garbage bags will be provided. Bringing snacks and water is recommended. All snacks must be peanut-free. One person to a seat and you must sit in the seat. We recommend you bring fun movies to show on the bus. There are regular DVD players (no Blu Ray). Movies can be G or PG, with staff-approval of PG-13 movies. No scary movies! Behave appropriately this means no yelling, throwing, inappropriate behavior or language, or public displays of affection.

7 UNIVERSITY PREP 2014 SKI PROGRAM Each ski bus will have at least two chaperones on board. Students must adhere to all chaperone requests. Failure to do so may result in having your lift ticket revoked or suspension from the ski program. Once we are minutes from the mountain (Money Creek Campground/tunnel) we will let you know that you can change into your ski clothes and boots. ON THE MOUNTAIN UNLOADING Lots of gear looks alike. Make sure you ONLY take YOUR gear from the bus, not just gear that LOOKS LIKE yours. If you realize you made a mistake, you need to report to the chaperone table in Granite Peaks Lodge. RENTALS If you signed up for rentals you will get your rental equipment on your first trip to Stevens. Rentals must be picked up at the rental office. A chaperone will meet all renters in the parking lot and escort you to the rental office on that first night. You will need to remember to pick up your shoes and bring home the rented ski boots on your first trip up. LESSONS/CLINICS Lessons begin at 6:00 pm at the Stevens Pass Ski School (directly behind the gear check). Lessons end at 8:00 pm. SAFETY SAFETY FIRST!!!! Skiers/riders are expected to know and follow the rules of conduct posted at Stevens. Remember, absolutely no off-trail skiing, and always ski within control. Never ski or ride alone be with a buddy at all times. If an injury occurs, the buddy should notify a lift operator, who will dispatch the Ski Patrol. A University Prep chaperone will check Ski Patrol every 30 minutes. Students are to ski only on lit patrolled slopes. Under no circumstances should a student wander off into (unlit) unpatrolled wooded areas. Violators of this rule will be removed from the ski program. If you ski out of bounds, you are off the program. Boundaries are defined by Ski Patrol, not the students. TICKET/PASS ISSUES If you have any problems with your pass (including forgetting to bring your pass), go to Guest Relations on the main floor of Granite Peaks Lodge. GEAR CHECK We strongly encourage each participant to check their gear at the Gear Check area when they are not on the slopes. The cost is $3.00 for in and out privileges all night. Gear check is FREE and REQUIRED for all renters to use.

8 UNIVERSITY PREP 2014 SKI PROGRAM LOCKER RENTAL If you have extra gear (besides your skis and poles or board), you can rent a locker in one of the lodges. You will not be able to get back on the bus until 9:30 pm. You cannot store gear at the chaperone table. IF YOU NEED HELP For non-injuries, questions not pertaining to your ticket/pass, or have a pre-arranged pick-up: go to the chaperone table upstairs in Granite Peaks Lodge. PRE-ARRANGED PICK UP Parents must Laura Zaugg PRIOR to 1:30 pm on Friday with the name of the adult picking up your student. Pick up must happen at the chaperone table at Granite Peaks Lodge before 9:15 pm and adults must be prepared to show ID. INJURIES If someone you are skiing with is injured, immediately send a skier down to notify the nearest lift operator. Ski Patrol is located around the backside of Granite Peaks Lodge. If a student is involved in an accident, Ski Patrol will notify his/her parents as soon as the details of the accident are known. Should Ski Patrol decide that transport needs to be by ambulance, parents will be notified and such transport will be at the parent s expense. Major causes for accidents are skiing/boarding too fast, re-injuries (weak ankles, shoulders, and knees) poorly adjusted equipment, fatigue, lack of instruction, or failure to ski in a safe manner. Stay in control! REVOKED PASSES Any student who has their ticket revoked (taken away) during the evening by a Stevens Pass employee or Ski Patrol officer (typically for reckless skiing or foul language), will be either suspended from their next ski trip, or removed from the program. Parents will be notified. LOADING BUSES AT STEVENS PASS Buses are not open during the evening; you cannot get back on the bus until 9:30 pm. A chaperone must be present for students to board the bus. When entering the bus, kick the snow off your boots on the right front tire (NOT the edge of the step). Never place wet or snow covered items in the overhead compartments above the seats. No boots in the overhead compartments. Clean up after yourself. Garbage bags will be provided. 10 Frequently Asked Questions About the University Prep Ski Program Overall Program Questions Q. What are the ski bus dates? A. We go up to Stevens Pass for five Fridays, from 3 pm- midnight: January 24, January 31, February 7, February 21, February 28. Q. Do I have to know how to ski or snowboard in order to join? A. No. Many students join who have never been on skis before. Novice skiers/snowboarders must sign up for lessons, however. Stevens Pass Ski School has well qualified instructors with a student/teacher ratio of about 6:1. Q. Are there financial aid dollars available for this program? A. Yes. The student must be a current University Prep student and their family must already qualify for and receive financial aid. For registration, please see Michele Hayes in the Admissions office: (206) Q. Is the program well chaperoned? A. Yes. Faculty and staff, alumni, parents and community members all serve as chaperones. A chaperone is on-call at all times at the Granite Peaks Lodge should any emergency arise. Q. May I come up for only one or two times if I am unable to sign up for the entire season? A. Yes. However, you must register ahead of time. You must be pre-registered to attend any of the ski dates (registration deadline is December 6, 2013). Q. What if I cannot attend one of the dates for which I registered? A. Unfortunately, there are no refunds for missed ski bus dates. Please Laura Zaugg (lzaugg@universityprep.org) as early as possible if you are going to miss a ski bus date. Questions about Friday evenings: Q. How, when and where do we bring ski gear? A. On Friday mornings, students will be responsible for bringing all of their gear for that evening. We will store skis and snowboards along the fence down the stairs from the Puma statue. Ski bags and boots can be stored in student lockers or on the landing in the classroom building (between the English and math floors). Bags cannot be stored in hallways or in PE locker rooms. Equipment may not be stored for longer periods of time unless we have to suddenly cancel a trip due to poor conditions. Q. When do I change into my ski clothes and boots? A. Change into your thermal under layers prior to boarding the bus. When we reach the tunnel approximately 20 miles before Steven s, you will be given permission to get up and change into your boots and ski clothes. Q. What about my school backpack? A. Leave your backpacks in your lockers before we depart for Steven s. Do not leave anything in the Pumadome! Upon our arrival, the Commons and Classroom buildings will be opened to let everyone get their school bags.

11 Q. What time does the bus leave and return to the school? A. In general, these situations are pre-arranged by the parents/guardians prior to the trip departure and is approved depending on the situation. Please notify Ms. Zaugg as soon as possible so that your situation can be evaluated. The bottom line is that the school needs to be released of any responsibility and liability. Q.
