1 PO Box Old Mt. Peter Road Warwick, N.Y Phone Fax Season Pass s Sal ale Details Insid ide Learn to SKI or Snowboard Multi-Week Lessons for Beginner to Advanced Adults or Children Weekdays or Weekends The Mountain Times Fall 2018 By Amy Sampson - Cutler What were you doing 25-years ago? I was headed to Switzerland to have a great au pair adventure (it wasn t great after all!), my sister Rebecca was in college studying Recreation Management, and my parents were getting ready to host the first Great American Ski and Snowboard Sale with Ski Barn! A lot has changed in 25-years, the mountain has grown and our love for our familyrun business has grown right along with it. Over the past year or so, we have been working on new five-and ten-year plans for the mountain. We are excited for our future at Mount Peter. One thing that has not changed is our gratitude to our friends at Ski Barn. They have been doing this sale with us for 25-years, and we are thankful for the working relationship we have with them, as well as the friendship. Our kick-off to winter wouldn t be the same without them! This year, at the sale (which is always the third weekend in October), we will have live music, beer and wine, food, pumpkin picking, face painting, and of course, chairlift rides. The view from the chairlift this time of year is stunning, and even if you are not a skier or snowboarder, I highly recommend you check it out. In the past 25-years, I have gone through great personal challenges and growth, as I am sure all of my winter friends have. It has been an amazing experience to see so many of my friends have children, and now they are skiing and riding with us some of them even work with us at the mountain! I am happy to take this moment to welcome you to the kick-off for the winter season. I am excited about the upcoming season, and I can t wait to greet everyone at our 25th annual Great American Ski and Snowboard Sale! For the season - In this issue: Season Pass Sale Great American Ski & Snowboard Sale with Ski Barn. Chairlift Rides, Live Music, Face Painting, Pumpkin Painting and more... 7 The Mountain Times Page 7 Mount Peter received $165,000 Award from NYSERDA! NYSERDA (New York State Energy Research and Development Authority) promotes energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources. NYSERDA developed a program for ski areas for a snow gun replacement program. Mount Peter received a grant towards 11 snow guns valuing $165,000 (which is 80% of the cost of the snow guns). We are replacing older SMI carriage fan guns with new SMI tower guns, which are more energy efficient and more effective at warmer temperatures. We are very excited for the opportunity to work with the state in this program. This program was a first come first serve opportunity and we were one of the first handful of ski areas to jump on this wonderful opportunity from the state right away. There is only 5 million dollars allotted for ski areas, up to $300,000 per ski area and Mount Peter was one of the first to be awarded. The snow guns will be installed before the start of this upcoming season! It s more than a Sale!
