1 Amsterdam Swim Cup 2004 April 1st 4th Sloterparkbad, Amsterdam Again, elite swimmers are in the center of attention in the 3rd edition of the Amsterdam Swim Cup, initiated by TopZwemmenAmsterdam (TopSwimmingAmsterdam, TZA). In cooperation with swimming club De Dolfijn Spax, and supported by the City of Amsterdam, Topsport Amsterdam and many (corporate) partners, this great meet is organized in the pool Sloterparkbad in Amsterdam. The meet is the second one in the Dutch Open Swim Cup cycle, and is preceded by the edition in Eindhoven (March 27 th and 28 th ). The schedule of the meet in the Amsterdam Swim Cup 2004, is identical to the meet in Eindhoven the week before. The program mainly consists of short and middle distances and has been awarded the status of a Olympic Qualification Meet by the Dutch National Olympic Committee. All Dutch top swimmers will be present to gain Olympic participation. Also, there will be a strong representation from international elite swimmers from all over the world. The Amsterdam Swim Cup 2004 is the ideal environment to improve personal records in an Olympic year! In Amsterdam and Eindhoven, the total prize money is ,--. Every individual winner gains 50,--. Also, in Amsterdam and Eindhoven, the top 8 swimmers win prize money, determined by a number of points, according to the LEN-table (starting at 1.200,-- and decreasing to 100,-- for the number 8). The individual winner of the Dutch Open Swim Cup, both in the men s and the women s meet, will be awarded a prize of 3.000,-- (this prize can only be won when swimmers participate in Eindhoven and Amsterdam). The LEN-scores achieved in Eindhoven and Amsterdam will be added, and the result determines who will be the overall winner in the Dutch Open Swim Cup. This prize will be awarded in Amsterdam on the final day of the meet (Sunday, April 4 th, 2004). Amsterdam and Eindhoven succeed in organizing a great event in the Olympic year of The true swimming fans should definitely visit the Sloterparkbad in Amsterdam between April 1 st and 4 th, 2004.

3 Entering the Amsterdam Swim Cup You are requested to enter (register) the meet on or before March 17th, You can send your registration to the Meet Secretary at It is required that entering times can be checked and they have to be swum after January 1 st, Entering times can be swum in both 50 meter and 25 meter pools, but times swum in a 25 meter pool will be altered to 50 meter pool times by the Meet Secretary. Please send in withdrawals or alterations through (henko.dolfijn@planet.nl). If swimmers withdraw after this time slot, the starting fee has to be paid. All draws will be placed on on Friday, March 26 th, Clubs whose swimmers are denied to participate, will be informed through . Starting money is 3,-- per individual serie start. The starting money has to be paid when entering the pool, before participation. Bills (per club) will be at the door, with 3 meet programs for each club. For spectators, entry to the pool is free. Meet programs are available for 2,-- per day. Meet programs for the afternoon finals will be handed out in the stands. The results of the meet will be published at The text file of the results, will be mailed to the clubs. Results will not be handed out on paper.

4 Participation in the Amsterdam Swim Cup There will only be races for grown ups. 2. The number of participants that can be accepted per program number is: 50m: 3 series 100m: 3 series 200m: 2 series 400m and 800m: direct final 3. All starts in the series will be made Olympic. The 8 fastest swimmers reach the final. Per program number, a maximum of three foreign participants can be placed. For each final there will be 2 reserve swimmers indicated and they will be in the final-schedule. 400 meters (free style and medley) will be swum as a direct final in the morning program (8 participants). Withdrawal for the finals can only be done in writing, up to 1 hour after the results are published in the pool. 4. Individual participants of the World Championships 2003 (Barcelona) can, when they wish, be placed directly for the final of that program number. This wish has to be noted clearly at entry to the Amsterdam Swim Cup Time will be kept electronically. Clubs, parents, and all other relations who would like to spend the night(s) in Amsterdam, can contact mrs. Yvonne Verwoerd ot ATP Sports Travel. Depending on developments in the area of Paralympic swimming it could be that a few Paralympic numbers will be added to the schedule. Swimmers and coaches will be informed accordingly.

7 Prizes in the Amsterdam Swim Cup 2004 The overall winners of the Dutch Open Swim Cup, both men and women, win 3000,--. Every winner of an individual race wins 50,--. In Amsterdam, the following 8 prizes are available for the best achievements: 1st prize nd prize rd prize 750 4th prize 600 5th prize 450 6th prize 300 7th prize 200 8th prize 100 Result is determined by the times swum. They are recalculated according to the actual LEN-table. The swimmer with the most points wins the 1 st prize, etc. Only times swum in finals qualify for these prizes. Disqualifications do not qualify for these prizes. Every swimmer can win only one money prize. For example, if a swimmer books 1st, 4th and 7th times, only the 1st prize will be awarded. When two swimmers book the same results, prizes will be divided. For example, when two swimmers equally book 3 rd and 4 th prizes, they will be awarded 1350/2 = 675. 8 Further information about the Amsterdam Swim Cup 2004 Cars can be parked at the parking place of the former Sloterparkbad. The parking at the pool is not accessible freely. Swimmers and coaches enter through the main entrance (up the stairs, through round doors on the right). Public enters through the left entrance. Entry money can be paid at the entrance per team. We request teams to pay per team per day.
