Jot this one down on your calendar, people TRI-MEET KAPITI, LEVIN & RAUMATI MASTERS SUNDAY, 21 AUGUST The third annual fun meet between the three clubs will be hosted by Kapiti Masters this year. Warm-up starts at am and events kick off at am. The Otaki Pool is a 33 ⅓ job, so you ll have to swim a bit further. There are four ordinary swim events and the rest is fun stuff (maybe we should get in some practice!). See attached programme. Brunch will be served after the swim. Directions: Turn left at the roundabout on SH1 onto Mill Road, then right (about half a km) into Haruatai Park and follow road up to pool. ~~~~~~~ SUBS RENEWAL DUE NO LATER THAN 31 AUGUST 2016 You have three payment options: 1. 2 North Island Short Course Champs Taupo 6-7 May 2016 A team of seven swimmers attended this meet and all enjoyed the competition and friendly atmosphere. Several PBs were achieved and Marco placed first equal overall in his age group. Huge congrats, Marco! Kudos to Mary s husband, Russell, who cycled around Lake Taupo while we swam! The evening function was great, with the Raumati/Levin contingent the last to leave as usual. The DJ, got fed up with us and put his play list on auto pilot, no doubt hoping we d get the message and go home. Ha! The proximity of the lake to our accommodation tempted Donna, Sue, Marco and Grant to torture treat themselves to a chilly pre-breakfast dip on Sunday morning. They returned with frostbite. 5 COMBINED LEVIN/RAUMATI MASTERS MEET 16 JULY 2016 The Raumati and Levin Masters clubs welcomed 61 swimmers to this unsanctioned meet the first to be hosted by Raumati Masters for many years. Congrats to club members Hazel, Jenny, Tomo and Stuart on attending their first swim meet! Huge thanks to our club people and their families who volunteered at the meet or who lent support from the spectators benches. It was great to see a few former Raumati Masters members among the volunteers. We were very fortunate to acquire the significant support of both Coastlands Shoppingtown Ltd, who sponsored the pool hire fee, and the Infinity Foundation, who provided a grant to cover the cost of the venue hire and management fee for the evening function. Many thanks to Erica for her work on the grant application. Several local businesses supplied some fabulous spot prizes and Kapiti Hire generously donated lots of goodies for the raffle see back pages for a list of our awesome sponsors. Thanks, too, to club members who contributed to the laden spot prize table. An excellent buffet dinner awaited us at the Coastlands Kapiti Sports Turf pavilion including two sumptuous beef roasts donated by Simon and Jacqui van den Berg. We worked off our second helpings on the dance floor.

6 Surely, this one s gotta be mine! ~~~ RMS PRESIDENT After 16-plus years as club president, Simon is stepping down from the role. During that time, he s attended national and regional Masters meetings as our delegate, clocked up a zillion kms swimming for the club at almost every meet on the calendar, delivered speeches, represented us at formal and social functions, and officiated as an excellent Santa at our annual Christmas dinner. Huge thanks, Simon, for your enthusiastic contribution to the club throughout your presidency and for your willingness to fill that role for so long.
