1 Issue 37 Thursday, November Infants Thanksgiving Service On Friday 30 th November the Infants students will be participating in their annual Thanksgiving Service. This is always a very special occasion that I look forward to. Alice In Wonderland Our Primary (Year 3-6) Drama Production, Alice In Wonderland, will be on Thursday 29 th and Friday 30 th November. The children have been putting a great deal of effort into the preparation of this play and I encourage everyone to come along to watch what will be a magnificent production. Infants Visit to Macquarie Care Centre On Monday 3 rd December our Infants students will be travelling to Macquarie Care Centre to perform their nativity tableau for the residents. From the Chaplain Fr Paul Woodhart Thank you for so many overwhelming good wishes and for the delightful Junior School gift of the portrait gallery. As we look towards the whole school Carols this coming Wednesday (at 6pm) we have taken the Year 6 students for their practise and plan to take the Kindy students next Tuesday morning. The Cathedral is a great venue for this grand Christ-centered occasion. There is an Advent Carols and Lessons at 4.30pm this Sunday and is well worth visiting to take in the exquisite choral music and Biblical passages which anticipate the coming of Christ. Each Saturday in December I will be leading the 6pm Eucharist. This is a reflective Communion and some have expressed their desire to come with their children so they can make their first communion. The services are in the Warriors Chapel. I look forward to seeing you at the Carols and at Presentation Day. Father Paul All Saints College JUNIOR SCHOOL VIM From the Head of Junior School Mr Chris Jackman Carols Service Our annual College Carols Service will be held at All Saints Cathedral at 6.00pm on Wednesday 5 th December. Students must wear summer uniform. Junior School Presentation Day The Junior School Presentation Day ceremony will be in the Bickerdike Centre on Thursday 6 th December at 9.00am. Students are to wear summer uniform. What does the All Saints College Foundation do? We all want to give our children the best education and opportunities we can. The Foundation generates community and financial resources to help support the College Council in improving the education facilities and scholarships offered to its students. Our next goal is to raise money to build new boys boarding facilities and improve the existing facilities. The Foundation has already supplied money for planning of this project. In the past the Foundation has funded the fibre optic network that now supports our wireless IT: the Music Rooms received their update through the Foundation Funds; the improvements to the Reekie Language Centre; and the building of the Bickerdike Multipurpose Centre. Our other aim is to encourage and foster the interest of the College community in improving and developing the school facilities. With this in mind, we d like to extend to you all, an invitation to join us at a Cocktail Party after the Carols service in Wednesday, 5 th December, We hope to see you there. In the warmer months they are conducted on the Outdoor Assembly area and during the colder months we move into the Kemmis Building. Assemblies begin at 9.00am. Transition News The children were very excited to see Father Paul arrive on his motor scooter for his last chapel service last Wednesday! He was very impressed with how the Transition children sang along with the Junior School. The Transition staff will certainly miss the rapport Father Paul has with the children and wish him all the very best for his retirement. During Christian studies last week, the children visited the chapel and got to see gold, smell frankincense and were anointed with myrrh. This helped the children make sense of a significant event in the story of Christmas. I d like to thank Liz and Doug Rolfe for hosting the Transition dinks night in their wonderful garden. It was such a lovely occasion where parents and staff could socialise in a tranquil environment. By the time the VIM is ed all three Transition Christmas concerts will be over. The children have certainly risen to the occasion and have done everyone proud. We look forward to our picnic at Peace Park next Wednesday with our families to conclude our very action-packed year in Transition. I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe and relaxing holiday. 3 From the REGISTRAR Mr Michael Hissey The final Revelations for 2012 brings with it reminiscences of such a busy 10 months since commencing as Registrar. For this writer however, the greatest joy in the position of Registrar is to be had in meeting so many wonderful families and helping them with their choice of schooling for their delightful children. Over the past 10 months more than 40 tours of the College have been conducted, hundreds of prospectuses posted, countless telephone enquiries answered, information evenings hosted, regional educational expos attended, special event days organised the list goes on. As we approach the new school year, the enrolments at the College are now in a very healthy state with in excess of 520 students enrolled for Pre-Kindergarten, Year 1, Year 5, Year 7 and Year 12 are now full and at wait-listing status. In addition, All Saints College will commence 2013 with around 100 boarders. These are gratifying statistics and reflect positively on the superb reputation of our great school and staff in the wider community. My thanks to all staff, students and willing parents who have assisted the Registrar s Office throughout this busy year. Singular thanks must go to Mrs Kathryn Parnell who has over past months, brought to the position of Assistant Registrar her amazing insight and energy. Best wishes to all for the approaching holiday season and a healthy and prosperous YEARS CRICKET Congratulations to the 10 Years cricket team on their finally game for 2012 that was played on Saturday morning against Oxford. Unfortunately they were defeated by a much older, more experienced and fuller team on the day. However ASC need to be commended on the improvement that each and every player has made with batting, fielding and bowling. Mitch Nelson was a courageous Captain and played and excellent game as wicketkeeper. Andy Jackman once again batted superbly and Emmett Miller was fast and accurate out on the field. Dylan was awarded player of the match for ASC for his consistent batting and fielding and his wonderful enthusiasm and sportsmanship that he displayed on the day. Thank you to Mr Hope for doing a wonderful job as umpire for the game! A big thank you to Mrs Gardiner for organising a lovely morning tea for the team after the game, and also to the parents who assisted her. As this was my last game as coach for the team I would like to say thank you to all of the players, you have all been a pleasure to coach! I have loved your enthusiasm, commitment and most importantly sportsmanship. Thank you also to the Somma for umpiring and to all of the parents for your assistance and support at the games. Good luck boys next year when the season continues. I look forward to following your progress with Mrs Nicholls and am sure you will do very well! Mrs Allcorn 11 YEARS CRICKET The 11 Years team played the first week of a two day match against St Pats White. The St Pats team batted first and made use of the hot conditions to pile a total of 140 for the loss of no wickets. The ASC boys tried hard in the field and made some excellent stops. Some of the boys bowled accurately, but we bowled far too many wide balls in the innings hopefully some bowling practice at training will fix this for this Saturday. Our batsmen also enjoyed the conditions and made 93 runs for 3 out at the end of the 20 overs. We will bat first in the second week of the match and it is a great opportunity for our boys to pile o the runs early in the day. Congratulations to Cameron James for his patient and stylish 20 run innings which earned him Player of the Week. This information can be posted to BCASC, PO Box 929, Bathurst NSW Entry fee is $5.00 per event. This cost includes on-line program of events available via the MeetMobile smartphone application. A copy of the program will also be available for download from BCASC web site shortly after entries close. 7. Age as at 9 th December All events will be timed finals. Clubs will be allocated lanes to assist in timekeeping. 9. A Cash prize system will be awarded to swimmers in 12, 13, 14, 15+ years and OPEN. (1 st = $10, 2 nd = $6, 3 rd = $4). Medals will be awarded for 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd in all other events i.e. Beginner, 8 and Under, 9, 10 and 11 years. 10. No entry fee, medal or prize money for BBB events 5 and 6. For these events a swimmer must nominate to swim 200m of Breaststroke, Backstroke or Butterfly. 11. No entry fee, medal or prize money for long distance events 67 and 68. For event 67 a swimmer must nominate either 400m Freestyle or 400m IM. For event 68 a swimmer must nominate either 800m or 1500m freestyle. 12. Normal pool entry applies. 13. Meet Director reserves the right to alter program if necessary or if insufficient entries received. 14. Relay teams must have at least one swimmer of opposite sex. Relays may be entered on the day, and clubs will be invoiced for entered relay events upon completion of the meet. 15.
