1 By: Elizabeth W. For my comparison and contrast document, I chose Sponge Bob and Patrick from the cartoon, Sponge Bob Square Pants. I am going to compare them in appearance, personality, actions, motives and their houses. Let s get started!

2 Looking at the two cartoon characters, you may see differences and similarities. The similarities are they both wear some sort of shorts. They also both have eyes. You can also find these two sea creatures under the sea. Some differences are the colors of their bodies. Sponge Bob is yellow, and Patrick is pink. One has a lot of holes, and one has a lot of dots. One has a nose and the other one does not. Hey, fun fact, did you know that in one of the episodes Patrick was jealous of Sponge Bob s nose, so he got one stitched on his face? Sponge Bob always wears socks and shoes. Patrick never does. They are both different things. Sponge Bob is a sea sponge and Patrick is a star fish. Sponge Bob is pretty skinny, but on the other hand, Patrick is slightly chubby. In the cartoon, they are pretty much wearing the same clothes all of the time, so it s pretty easy to compare the two. A lot of people have different personalities, sometimes characters can have the same. Some similarities in the two creatures are that they are both super hyper and super loud. Patrick and Sponge Bob always stand out. They never run out of energy. But, that s not it. They are both super loyal. They do have their differences. One of them is, you can only really depend on one of them, and that one is Sponge Bob! Patrick is kind and all, but never trust him with your prized possessions. Patrick

3 is very lazy and stupid. On the other hand, Sponge Bob is very hardworking, has a job, and is very smart. My last contrast is that one is a daredevil and the other is very superstitious. Patrick always wants to do something scary, when Sponge Bob is never sure about it. The next category I would like to talk about is their actions and motives. One similarity is that they both run around, blow bubbles and catch jellyfish to have fun! One of the main things Sponge Bob and Patrick really want is to have fun. They never want to be bored. They both are very open minded. They think that their neighbor, Squidward, might want to play with them if they do anything for him. So, they do! One of Sponge Bob s biggest motives is to get a promotion. Now, because of this, he goes to work super early every day. In case you didn t know, Sponge Bob works at the Krusty Krab as a fry cook. Sponge Bob really wants to learn karate. Now, Sponge Bob practices with his friend Sandy a lot in her tree house. She is a squirrel. It s not just Squidward he wants to be friends with, it is all of Bikini Bottom! So, he s super nice to everyone. Patrick really wanted a nose. He was super jealous of Sponge Bob because he wanted to smell the deliciousness in town everyone else smelled. When he went in to town, he went in the shop and had a nose stitched on his face. One time, Patrick wanted to get a job, so he went in to town and looked for a job, but he never found one. Patrick was not as motivated as Sponge Bob to have a job.

Sponge Bob s and Patrick s houses are objects of things you can find under water. Both boys live on the same street, so they can always play. Sponge Bob s exterior of his house looks bigger than Patrick s. Sponge Bob s house has 2 floors and Patrick s only has one. Patrick s house inside is made of sand where the inside of Sponge Bob s house looks like an ordinary house. Sponge Bob s house is a pineapple and Patrick s house is a rock.
