USTA MIDDLE STATES SECTION GRANT APPLICATION IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATION; PLEASE READ: All grant applicants including all lead coaches working with youth under the age of 18 MUST be approved on NetGeneration.com ( prior to submitting this grant application. USTA MS Grants are available to non-profit organizations that provide community tennis programming. All completed applications will be reviewed by a staff and volunteer review board and decisions will be communicated within 60 days of the application deadline. GRANT ELIGIBILITY Financial support will be awarded only to organizations; applications by individuals will not be accepted. Applying organizations must be open to all people, regardless of race, creed, religious belief and nationality. Please note that in order to apply for a USTA Middle States Grant, your organization must be an active USTA Organizational Member. To apply or renew your membership, please go to the following website: Priority will be given to those programs which target new players, link their program(s) to USTA Tennis programs, are a registered Community Tennis Association, NJTL Chapter, USTA Junior Team Tennis Program, Tennis On Campus, Adaptive Program, Wheelchair Program, Multicultural Program, 10 and Under Tennis, Adult Learn to Play, Local Play and Competition, Millennial Programming or School Tennis Program. Programs or Individuals are only eligible to apply ONE time per year. PLEASE PRINT & READ THE PROGRAM GRANT GUIDELINES AND NARRATIVE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE COMPLETING THIS APPLICATION. These documents can be found on our grants web page. Please visit hover over the "Organize" tab, click on "Grants & Assistance", then scroll down to and click on "Program Grants". There is a link to each document, which you can click on, print, and review information. NOTE: There is no option to "save" your work; however, if you need to exit the application prior to submitting it, you can close the application and then return using the EXACT SAME COMPUTER and the same web link another time. The application should return to where you left off and your previous information should still be there. Please only submit applications online. We will not accept mailed or faxed applications. 4 NET GENERATION JOIN THE FUTURE OF TENNIS Net Generation, an official part of USTA, makes it easier and more fun to get kids and teens into tennis. Together, we're going to grow the game of tennis. Net Generation Empowers Providers with the latest tools and curricula. To be eligible to APPLY for a USTA Middle States Program Grant, you and your organization's lead coaches working with youth under the age of 18 MUST approved on Net Generation. * 3. 5 III. USTA MIDDLE STATES PROGRAM GRANT DESCRIPTIONS United States Tennis Association Middle States (USTA MS) is committed to promoting tennis at the local level. To that end, USTA MS offers grants to assist non-profit organizations to initiate or expand their tennis programming activities. Program Grants may be used to start instructional programs and/or leagues for players of all ages, abilities, and populations. TYPES OF USTA MS GRANTS: USTA MS Program Grants will be awarded for a period of one year. PROGRAM GRANT AWARDS WILL RANGE BETWEEN $100 TO $3,000. ALL GRANTS WILL BE DECIDED UPON BY A STAFF AND VOLUNTEER REVIEW BOARD. A. COMMUNITY TENNIS ASSOCIATION START-UP AND EXPANSION: For expenses related to developing a USTA member Community Tennis Association including: incorporation fees, rental of facilities, costs of equipment, etc. B. USTA SCHOOL TENNIS: Funding for elementary, middle, junior high and high schools who interested in starting or expanding upon their school tennis program. This includes integrating tennis into their PE Curriculum or running before/after school programs. Schools are encouraged to integrate Junior Team Tennis into their School Tennis programs. C. NATIONAL JUNIOR TENNIS AND LEARNING START-UP AND EXPANSION: For creating or expanding USTA Tennis National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) that also provide some type of educational support service, including homework clubs, mentoring and tutoring programs, SAT review courses, and guidance counseling. NJTL programs and chapters are highly encouraged to run USTA Jr. Team Tennis. D. USTA JUNIOR TEAM TENNIS: For creating or expanding Junior Team Tennis leagues registered on TennisLink. E. USTA ADAPTIVE TENNIS OR WHEELCHAIR TENNIS: For creating or expanding community tennis programs for special populations including persons with mental, emotional, physical and developmental impairments. F. MULTICULTURAL PARTICIPATION: For creating or expanding tennis programs in diverse communities. G. YOUTH TENNIS: For programs looking to start or expand tennis programming, that utilizes the the proper red, orange, and green youth progression format. H. TENNIS ON CAMPUS: New Tennis On Campus teams/clubs forming in our section are eligible to apply for support to cover travel and start-up expenses. All applicants must be recommended and approved by Middle States Manager of Adult Competition.
6 I. ADULT LEARN TO PLAY: For creating or expanding tennis programming for beginner adults, utilizing transition equipment such as red, orange, and green balls. J LOCAL PLAY AND COMPETITION: With new, flexible formats of Junior Team Tennis and Entry Level Tournaments, it's easier than ever to align tennis with other youth sports. This grant is for creating or expanding upon local, non-travel introductory competition for tennis programs, including local, nonadvancing junior team tennis, team challenges, and entry level tournaments. K. YOUNG ADULT (ages 18-39) PROGRAMMING: for any programs interested in tennis programming for the millennial population. This can include innovative, flexible adult formats, sport and social leagues, tennis mixers, or anything else targeting this population. * 5.
