After coming within three games of defeat in the opening round, the sisters saw off former Roland Garros doubles champion Sara Errani and her partner Kirsten Flipkens on Friday. Elsewhere in the bottom half, No.9 seeds Kiki Bertens and Johanna Larsson have made smooth progress through to the third round, while No.2 seeds Andrea Sestini Hlavackova and Barbora Strycova came from a set down to defeat Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Samantha Stosur. In the top half of the draw, Timea Babos kept alive her hopes of claiming the No.1 ranking for the first time with a second-round win alongside Kristina Mladenovic against Nao Hibino and Oksana Kalashnikova.
