Don t forget to get on the court and work off all of those extra calories. A great way to do that is to join the Winter Mixed doubles league. Find a partner and join the league! You can sign up at Leagues/Login.aspx. USTA is also forming a new league coming up in January, Adult at many levels. New teams are forming, find a Captain and join! Congratulations to those who competed at Nationals! I haven t heard all of the results but what I have heard was that all had a great time. It isn t an easy thing and not everybody earns the opportunity to go, so, NICE JOB Captains and players Being thankful and kind Last month I said that it is time to be thankful and kind, but shouldn t that happen all of the time? I saw this on a banner at Diamond Hills recently and I think we should also adopt this. I m interested in hearing your thoughts. Player Promise One of the responsibilities of playing tennis, and what makes our game so great, is the spirit of fair play. I promise to always play by the rules, to make every call honestly and to the best of my ability, and to always give my opponent the benefit of the doubt. I appreciate that sportsmanship lies at the heart of our game and know that my behavior during the match is a true reflection of that. Whether this match ends with my victory or defeat, I promise to conduct myself in a way that honors my opponents, my team, those who support me, and the game of tennis. Be well and we will see you on the courts! Glenn 2 The Court Reporter December 2017

4 Tennis News Deuces WILD The 2.5 Deuces Wild 2017 season came to an end in October after a exciting trip to Alabama for Nationals. Only 5 players from the team were able to make it so it was a rough couple of days as we all played back to back to back, taking turns at playing singles. The tennis was fun but very competitive, our team won the first match but lost the next 3. More than anything though was the bond we solidified after a weekend supporting each other in tennis, and playing in the streets of downtown Mobile. Thank you to everyone that supported us and helped us get there! Having fun in downtown Mobile: Christina Tapp, Nancy Guzzaldo, Kelly Anderson and Julie Amthor Nationals!
