CBI JOURNEY BEGINS: For the 26th time overall and first time since 2011, the Miami University men s basketball team is competing in a postseason basketball tournament. The RedHawks have earned a spot in the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) and will travel to Campbell to face the Camels on Wednesday. Tip time is scheduled for 7 p.m. and it will stream live and for free on the Big South Network. 2. MIAMI IN CBI: This is the third time the RedHawks have competed in the CBI during its 11 year history. Miami was selected the very first year of the event in 2008 when it fell to Tulsa, 61-45, in the first round. The Red and White also participated in the tournament in 2011 where they fell to Rhode Island, 76-59, in a first round game. 3. MIAMI IN POSTSEASON: This is Miami s 26th all-time postseason appearance. That includes 17 times in the NCAA Tournament, six times in the NIT and three times in the CBI. The RedHawks will be going for their ninth overall win in postseason play and first since they advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament in RINGO NATIONAL RANKINGS WATCH: Junior guard Darrian Ringo currently ranks seventh in the nation with 229 total assists while his 6.9 assists per game average ranks eighth. Ringo is fifth in the country with 89 total steals. His 2.70 steals per game average ranks seventh.

The RedHawks have earned a spot in the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) and will travel to Campbell to face the Camels on Wednesday. Tip time is scheduled for 7 p.m. and it will stream live and for free on the Big South Network. ABOUT CAMPBELL: The Camels are on the season and finished fourth in the Big South with a 10-8 record. It was their best league finish in the past six seasons and most league wins since They were defeated by fifth seed Liberty, 73-59, in the quarterfinals of the Big South Tournament in their last action on March 1. Campbell has a dynamic guard duo led by junior Chris Clemons. He is the fourth leading scorer in the entire nation, averaging 24.5 points per game. Sophomore Marcus Burk gives the Camels a nice second option, averaging 14.8 points per contest. Campbell is a strong shooting team, hitting 47.6 percent of its shots and averaging 9.1 three-point makes per game. THE SERIES WITH CAMPBELL: This is the first meeting between Miami and Campbell. MIAMI VS. BIG SOUTH: The Big South features 10 schools located in the states of North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. The RedHawks have very little history with the schools of this conference, but hold a perfect 4-0 record. That includes a 3-0 mark against Liberty and 1-0 against Longwood. In addition to Campbell, Miami has never played Charleston Southern, Gardner-Webb, High Point, Presbyterian, Radford, UNC Asheville or Winthrop. UP AHEAD: The RedHawks will have to win to keep their season alive. With a victory, Miami advances to the second round of the CBI where it will take on the winner of the game between the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley and New Orleans on Monday. The site of that contest is still to be determined. 8 MIAMI UNIVERSITY REDHAWKS MEN S BASKETBALL Head Coach Jack Owens Miami University has tabbed Jack Owens to take over the reins of its men s basketball program, announced by Athletics Director David Sayler on Wednesday, March 29. Owens becomes the 27th coach in Miami basketball history. I m extremely excited about becoming the head men s basketball coach at Miami University, said Owens. I would like to thank President Greg Crawford and Athletic Director David Sayler for this opportunity and I look forward to not only rebuilding this championship program, but also making this program one that all Miami alumni can be proud of. In Owens, Miami acquires a coach that has advanced to postseason play in 13 of the past 17 seasons and went on to the NCAA Tournament in 11 of the past 13 years, including four trips to the Sweet 16. He has also helped secure several top recruiting classes, produced NBA talent and developed some of the nation s top players. Owens spent the past nine seasons on staff at Purdue University, three as an assistant coach and the last six years as its associate head coach. Since his arrival, the Boilermakers have recorded 209 wins (23.2/year), including 27 during the season, helping Purdue win a Big Ten Regular Season Championship. In Owens nine seasons with Purdue, the Boilermakers have made the NCAA Tournament on seven occasions, advancing to the Sweet 16 three different times. secure four classes ranked in the Rivals.com top 30 in each of the last four seasons, including the 15th-ranked class in Owens came to Purdue after a five-season stint as an assistant at Southern Illinois. In , Owens was part of a Southern Illinois team that went 25-5 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. In the next four seasons at SIU, Owens helped guide the Salukis to three more NCAA Tournament berths, a trip to the NCAA Sweet 16, a Missouri Valley Conference title and an appearance in the National Invitation Tournament. Prior to joining SIU, Owens served as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Eastern Illinois, during the season, and spent the campaign as an assistant at Barton County Community College, which reached as high as No. 2 in the national polls during the season. Owens began his coaching career as an assistant at Howard Community College during the season, serving as the team s interim head coach for a portion of the year. The Indianapolis native began his collegiate playing career at Murray State, and played a season at Howard Community College before playing two seasons at Eastern Illinois. While at EIU, Owens averaged 11.7 points and 6.5 assists per game as a senior, earning honorable mention All-Ohio Valley Conference honors. He also served as team captain during his final campaign, and garnered team MVP and Outstanding Defensive Player honors. During the season, Owens remained a part of the Eastern Illinois program as a student assistant coach. Owens and his wife, Kamilah, have three daughters, Alanah, Aniyah and Anyah. Owens has helped produce five NBA draft picks, including AJ Hammons and Robbie Hummel and multiple professional basketball players. This past season, he helped guide Caleb Swanigan to national attention, recently being named one of five finalists for the John R. Wooden Award, given to the nation s top player. When you combine all those factors with the understanding of how to win at an institution similar to Miami, in Purdue, it is easy to see why we are excited to have him as our head coach. With all of Purdue s accolades on the court, Owens biggest impact for Miami may come on the recruiting trail, especially in the Midwest. A tireless worker, Owens played a significant role in landing Purdue s first Indiana Mr. Basketball since 1991 in Swanigan for the season. His efforts helped Purdue
