April Nick 1,124 (00-03) Senior CLASS Award: Senior outside hitter Kelsie Wills continued to add to her accolades as she was named one of only 30 candidates nationally for the Senior CLASS Award. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete needed to be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence community, classroom, character and competition. Coach Mansur: Head Coach Emily Mansur is in her first season as the head coach of the Hofstra Volleyball program after serving as an assistant coach in A 2005 graduate of Iona College, Mansur joined the Hofstra staff after spending the previous season as an assistant coach of the professional-level Lusofona Volleyball Club. She returned to the college game with extensive experience coaching club teams as well as serving as an assistant coach for one season (2006) at Marist College. Mansur was an assistant coach for two Lusofona Volleyball Club teams based out of Lisbon, Portugal. A two-year captain for the Gaels from 2003 to 2004, Mansur was a four-year starter as a right side and outside hitter, and setter. She was named to the allconference first team in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) in 2003 and 2004 while earning the MAAC Setter of the Year Award in HOFSTRA TEAM LEADERS Kills 1. Her career kills total ranks third among ALL Division I active players. In addition, she ranks fourth in total attempts, 10th in kills per set, 15th in attempts per set, 23rd in matches played, 25th in sets played and 109th in career digs among active players. Exclusive Club: Senior outside hitter Kelsie Wills joined an exclusive club in the Sacred Heart match as the New Zealand native became only the sixth player in program history to reach both 1,000 kills and digs in their spectacular careers. 3 Two and Out: Since 1982 the Hofstra Volleyball team is (96%) when winning the first two sets of a match. Hofstra had won 25 matches in a row when winning the first two sets of a match prior to the UNC Wilmington loss on October 9, Currently, Hofstra has won 35 straight matches when winning the first two sets of a match.
