TCU QUICK HITS 4The Horned Frogs are looking to bounce back from a two five-set heartbreaking losses to Kansas State and Texas Tech. 4Preseason All-Big 12 selection Yvonne Igodan can be seen at the middle blocker and outside hitter position and leads TCU overall in kills with Igodan, along with Natalie Gower are ranked among the top 10 in the conference in hitting percentage with Gower at No. 5 (.336) and Igodan at No. 7 (.316). 4After suffering an injury before the Texas match, freshman Ashley Smith has returned to the lineup and is No. 2 on the team with 160 kills and 2.67 kills per set. 4Alexia Heist and Trisha Langely are guiding the TCU offense with 402 and 299 assits, respectively, while Langley leads the team with 18 service aces. 4Shane Peters is roaming the back court as libero and leads the team with 230 digs and 3.38 digs per set, which is good for No. 8 in the Big 12. 4Mattie Burleson is taking charge at the net and is ranked No. 7 in the Big 12 in blocks per set with 1.17 and leads the team with 75 blocks. TCU VS. BAYLOR SERIES NOTES 4TCU and Baylor are meeting for the 11th time, with Baylor holding a 9-1 advantage in the series. 4The teams have met in 1996, 1999, 2000 and every year since 2007, with three of the last five matches going five sets. 4After going five sets in 2009 and 2010, TCU won its only matchup between the teams in 2011, when the Frogs swept the Bears 3-0 at home. 4In the two meetings last fall in Big 12 play, Baylor won both matchups by claiming a five-set thriller in Waco and sweeping the Frogs in Fort Worth. 4First Meeting: Aug. 31, Baylor 3, TCU 0 4Last Meeting: Nov. 14, Baylor 3, TCU 0 BREAKING DOWN THE OPPONENT - BAYLOR 4Baylor earned its first Big 12 win of the season last week with a 3-0 victory over West Virginia. 4Thea Much-Soegaard had her ninth double-double of the season with 11 kills and 12 digs against WVU, while Zoe Adom added 10 kills. 4Tola Itiola was named Big 12 Rookie of the Week on Monday after recording seven kills for a.583 hitting percentage and four blocks in the win over the Mountaineers. 4Preseason All-Big 12 selection Adom leads the team with 215 kills and 3.07 kills per set, which is good for No. 9 in the Big 12. 4Freshman Amy Rosenbaum is dishing out the assists for the Bears and ranks fifth in the Big 12 in assists per set with After starting the season 2-6, which was the slowest in program history, the Bears began conference play with a.500 record, which extends an 18 season streak where Baylor enters conference play without a losing record. 4In the match against SMU on Sept. 3, Adrien Richburg became the first player in Baylor history and just the third in Big 12 history to have a perfect hitting percentage after going 10 for 10. LAST TIME OUT - TEXAS TECH RECAP 4In front of a sold out crowd of, the TCU volleyball was stunned as Texas Tech took a 3-2 (22-25, 19-25, 25-20, 25-18, 11-15) decision Saturday evening inside the University Recreation Center. 4The Horned Frogs (12-7, 1-4 Big 12) were down 2-0 to the Red Raiders (8-12, 0-5 Big 12) in the match before winning the next two sets, but the comeback fell short as Texas Tech would go on to win their first Big 12 Conference match of the season. 4The Frogs had three players notch double-digit kills with Natalie Gower recording a season- and career-high 16 kills and only three errors for a.433 hitting percentage. 4Stephanie Holland followed with 14 kills, while Ashley Smith finished the night with 10 kills. 4Alexia Heist finished with a double-double of 24 assists and 13 digs, while Shane Peters and Sutton Sunstrum each chipped in double-digit digs with 18 and 12, respectively. 2

3 ONLY ONE ERROR 4Senior Yvonne Igodan finished two championship matches of non-conference tournaments with only one hitting error. 4Igodan had a season-high 20 kills and only one error in the five-set win over Ole Miss on Sept. 13 to lead the Frogs to the title at the TCU Nike/Molten Invitational, while The Houston native once again limited her errors against UNC Greensboro by finishing with 17 kills and only one error to help TCU to the Spartan Spiketacular title. 4Igodan has been limiting her hitting errors all season and has recorded only one on six occasions and less than three in 12 matches. B IS FOR BLOCK 4Regan McGuire had a record-setting performance in her first weekend of action against Lipscomb, which helped establish TCU as blocking machines from the middle blocker position. 4The Flower Mound, Texas native tied a 13-year old record of 12 blocks in a sinlge match set by Jennifer Sebastian on Oct. 14, 2000 and was named TCU Muscle Milk Athlete of the Week on Sept. 4. 4Mattie Burleson followed up that match with her own double-digit performace by notching 10 blocks against UIC on Sept. 5., while also recording nine against Ole Miss on Sept Burleson is ranked No. 7 in the Big 12 with 1.17 blocks per set, while McGuire is averaging 0.78 blocks per set. STATISTICAL COMPARISON TCU Baylor Kills Per Set Hitting % Assists Per Set Service Aces Per Set Digs 961 1,069 Per Set Blocks Block Solo Block Assist Per Set Points 1, ROOKIE DEBUTS 4With the start of the 2013 campaign, TCU has had all eight freshmen see action in at least one set throughout the first half of the season. 4Trisha Langely helps guide the offense and has participated in 70 of the team s 71 sets and has recorded 299 assists on the season. 4Shane Peters and Ashley Smith have also seen significant time on the court in their rookie campagins. 4Peters has started at libero the last 13 matches and leads the team with 230 digs, while Smith is one of the Frogs offensive leader with 160 kills and 2.67 kills per set. 4Regan McGuire and Natalie Gower have lended a hand in the middle from time to time this season, with McGuire recording 36 total blocks, while Gower has 28 blocks and 67 kills on the season. LEFTY ATTACK 4The duo of left handed, right side hitters Stephanie Holland and Blaire Pickens have given TCU an offensive threat from the opposite position. 4In the opening half of the season, Holland has notched 138 kills, while Pickens has chipped in 97 kills. 4The lefties led the Frogs in kills in the final match of the Georgia Bulldog Invitational against Lipscomb, with both players recording nine kills a piece. 4Pickens only recorded six errors the whole weekend and hit a season-high.429 in the opening match against Furman. 4After recording 14 kills and only one error for a.433 hitting percentage in the match against Ole Miss, Holland was named co-mvp of the TCU Nike/Molten Invitational last weekend. 4Holland leads the duo in blocking with 49, while Pickens has chipped in 22 blocks for the season. THE GREAT LIBERO DEBATE 4With the loss of libero Meghan Horio, TCU looks to returner Sutton Sunstrum and newcomer Shane Peters to fill the void. 4Sunstrum started the first six games this season with the libero jersey and saw action as libero against Texas Tech in a set, while Peters has started the last 13 matches in the libero role. 4Sunstrum finished with double-digit digs in two of the team s first three matches with 11 against Furman and 14 against Lipscom, while also chipping in 12 against Texas Tech. 4Peters has racked up double-digit digs 12 times this season, including six of the last seven games and notching a season- and career-high 23 in the match against Kansas State. 4Peters leads the two with 230 digs and 3.38 digs per set, while Sunstrm has 139 digs and 2.04 digs per set for the season. IGODAN - A PRESEASON FAVORITE 4Senior Yvonne Igodan was a unanimous selection to the Preseason All-Big 12 Team for the second year in a row on Aug. 6 after being named a 2012 All-Big 12 Honorable Mention honoree. 4The Houston, Texas native has been named to the Georgia Bulldog Invitational All- Tournament team, the Marquette Challenge All-Tournament team, named co-mvp of the TCU Nike/Molten Invitational and MVP of the Spartan Spiketacular this season. 4Igodan is coming off a strong 2012 campaign where she finsihed first in kills (311), kills per set (3.24) and hitting percentage (.323). LEWIS-A WINNING COACH 4With 224 victories, coach Prentice Lewis has established herself as the all-time winningest coach in TCU program history. 4The Horned Frog s 104 wins are the third most wins in the state of Texas in the last five years. 4TCU is one of only four teams in Texas to make is past the NCAA First Round in the last five years. 4In 2012, Lewis collected her 200th win at TCU with a 3-0 sweep of SMU on Aug In the final match of the 2012 season, Lewis guided the team to its 100th win in the URC with a 3-0 victory over West Virginia. BIG 12-THE BEST IN THE NATION 4TCU enters its second season in the Big 12 Conference, which has established itself as the best conference in the nation for volleyball. 4The Big 12 has had three teams finish in the top 25 in each year and a total of 67 top 25 finishes all-time. 4By winning the 2012 Division I National Championship, Texas became the third Big 12 team in the last 12 years to capture the title marked the fourth straight season five or more Big 12 teams earned bids to the NCAA postseason event. TV DARLINGS 4 TCU is making appearances on the FOX Broadcasting channel six times this season and other stations a total of 10 times. 4The Frogs won their first television match of the season and home opener against North Texas on Sept. 11, 3-0 and defeated Stephen F. Austin 3-1 in the team s second TV match. 4Big 12 matches against Texas (Sept. 25), West Virginia (Oct. 2), at Baylor (Oct. 16) and Oklahoma (Oct. 23) will also get the television coverage on FSSW+ and FOX Sports Southwest. 4The Frogs will also be getting coverage at Kansas on Sept. 28 (MetroSports/ESPN3), at Kansas State on Oct. 5 (FOX College Sports Central/K-StateHD.TV), at Texas on Oct. 30 (Longhorn Network) and at Oklahoma on Nov. 13 (Sooner Sports TV). Yvonne Igodan got the Frogs started off on the right foot with a kill to score the first point of the match. A combination of kills from multiple players would keep the Frogs in control the rest of the set as the team would hit a match-high.424 hitting percentage to win the first set TCU found itself behind to start the second set as a string of serves from Elle Rose gave the Paladins a 13-7 advantage. The Frogs slowly climbed their way back into the set as six straight kills from Regan McGuire and Ashley Smith pulled the match even at Furman would fight to take the next four out of six points to give the Paladins a set point, but crucial errors and a solid block by Igodan and Burelson gave TCU the advantage to seal the victory at and take a 2-0 lead in the match. The offense continued strong into the third set as the Frogs gained an 11-7 edge to start the set. The first half of the match was a battle for points as both teams never gained more than a two-point advantage. Tied at 14-14, two straight kills from Brittany Northcutt, plus errors by TCU led to a 7-0 run by Georgia that forced the Frogs to use both of their timeouts. TCU would take the next two points, but a 4-1 run by the Bulldogs would close out the first set as Georgia would hit a.500 hitting percentage in the set. After dropping the first two points in the second set, the Frogs fought back to win the next five and take control of the set. After a Georgia timeout at 7-4, the Bulldogs used errors by TCU combined with two kills from Lauren Teknipp to take the lead at 8-7. TCU came out firing to start the match on a 4-0 run with kills from Yvonne Igodan and Stephanie Holland. George Mason would come back within two, but that was as close as they would get as the Frogs jumped out to a 19-9 lead highlighted by a balanced offensive attack by TCU that led to a set one win. The Frogs had three players notch double-digit kills with Natalie Gower recording a season- and career-high 16 kills and only three errors for a.433 hitting percentage. StephanieHolland followed with 14 kills, while Ashley Smith finished the night with 10 kills.
